Well, it's not really a trampoline. When Luke jumps off the platform, the sound effect of him landing comes in later than it should to make the platform seem higher that it is. Unfortunately, the shot is too long which allows Mark Hamill to stand back up after his landing and reveal the actual height of the platform.

What Did Vader say?

This was a THX laserdisc laserdisc called, "WOW!" It included a short documentary about sound editing called, "Soundtrack." There is the scene where Vader is choking one of the rebels for information. Here's Prowse's dialog...

Vader: (lifting up rebel) This ship carries the crest of Ahdra (?)! Was any of the royal family on board? (throws rebel to floor) Start tearing this ship apart until you find those tapes! Find the passengers of this vessel. I want them alive!

So some dialog was changed after the original readings.

The doc mainly focused on demontrating sound editing techniques for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but there is another brief Star Wars scene with the original on-set sound of the droids walking through the halls of the Tantive while it's being attacked. You can barely make out Anthony Daniels saying his lines under the costume. In this scene his dialog remained the same.

pictures of dual layer set
Time
Everyone,

I was one of the first to review the dual layered set a while ago. While my review is less technical, it pretty much matches TR47's review. The dual layered set's quality doesn't come anywhere near the TR47 or the Anamorphic sets. The actual manufacturers of the dual layered set had a chance to create what we have all been waiting for, but they just blew it. Particularly annoying was the interlacing problem. Stick with the TR47 or Anamorphic for now until a DIFFERENT dual layered set surfaces.

Yes. You have the anamorphic version. The TR47 version has slightly better picture quality (though not anamorphic) and way better sound quality (sans the commentary). Squeezing in the extra stuff takes away from the overall quality. If you can do without the bells and whistles, the TR47 set is definitely the way to go.

1997 SE officially bootleg fodder?
Time
I will always prefer the originals, but since I tend to be a completist about such things, I also own the 1997 SEs and will buy the 2004 versions (eventually previously viewed so the big GL won't see my money for them).

Currently, the unofficial Five Star Edition DVDs of the 1997 SE are adequate enough for me. They're not perfect, but they are factory pressed and dual-layered. When the time comes that the kinks in home-burned DVD9s get worked out, I would be interested in another laserdisc to DVD transfer if the quality could be improved over the Five Star version. Whoever did the Five Star version still did an excellent job, though. Far superior to earlier asian bootleg versions of the OT and still much better than the most recent Definitive Collection dual-layered release.

Reminder: Bootlegs of commercially available DVDs (such as the upcoming trilogy release) are NOT PERMITTED

I think the general consensus of those here who own the OT bootlegs is that we would buy still them if they were ever officially released.

By the way, since we all know that what is coming out on DVD are the 2004 versions, does that mean we can still discuss making copies/ bootlegs of the 1997 versions?

BTW, I think the anamorphic version looks really good. Though I would of liked the audio in it's original form, the DD 2.0 sounds good too.

From the menu screen of the Anamorphic versions, move the cursor to AUDIO OPTIONS (but do not press ENTER), then move one "click" RIGHT, then one "click" UP. A silhouette of Vader will appear. Press ENTER.

By the way, the Five-Star bootleg is excellent. It's dual layered and factory pressed, but is the 1997 Special Edition. The Dual-Layer Definitive Edition may be factory pressed D9 DVDs, but they in no way equal the quality of the TR47, Anamorphic, and Five-Star versions.

I don't mind having the extra stuff on a separate disc(s) for the sake of quality. To me, the TR47 set represents the closest quality currently possible to the Definitive Collection laserdiscs on a single layer DVD. The anamorphic version is a close second, but sacrifices a lot of audio quality and a bit of video quality in order to include commentary, menus, and an easter egg on the same discs. Plus, the original laserdiscs weren't anamorphic anyway. Still, it's nice to have both.

Special Edition on DVD (1997 versions)
Time
There is a great dual-layered set of the SEs called "The Five Star Collection" available for $25 to $35. DON'T get it on eBay. You'll most likely pay too much.

It's been reviewed here...

...and here...

I have sources for them, but will not post links because they also sell other bootlegs. PM me for info.

Does anyone have this mammoth release!?
Time
The extra material has all been released before. It just was packaged all together in this set.

The scripts were at one time available in book form. The documentaries have been released on VHS and laserdisc. The trailers, interviews, and behind the scenes footage appears on the Definitive Collection laserdisc. The only thing they couldn't get on The Executor Box Set from the laserdiscs was the 400+ still photos. Luckily, all of the Definitive Collection supplemental material is now on DVD thanks to fans on this site.

It is a great looking set, though.

There are two different releases of the Definitive set. The first accidentally omitted the welding footage. A second release corrected that. The TR47 set used the second release. The bit of black is a mastering error on the DVD only, not the laserdisc. A MINOR flaw at best.

DUAL LAYER SET's will hit soon - but be skeptical!
Time
Whoa, Rik! Thanks for the props. I just call 'em as I see 'em. I just don't want to see people get ripped off by getting any of the asian imports that claim to be the best versions just because they are factory pressed or (more recently) dual-layered. A lot more and better effort has been put into the OT project by people who visit these boards.

Honestly, I don't have super high-end equipment, but I have better than average in order to give a good general review. Also, I've been on the post production end of film and television for most of my adult work history so I kinda know what to look for. It's nice to feel appreciated.

True, but having the ad campaign at all is somewhat of an arguement for the fact that they did do something to inform people. Also, I've always taken the term "Original Star Wars Trilogy," when used in advertising, to mean "the first movies in the series to be released in theaters," and not, "the original versions of the first movies to be released in theaters."

Maybe I'm too informed on the issue and can't see it from a "general public" point of view.
