It reminds me of the batmobile from the animated series.
It reminds me of the batmobile from the animated series.
I hope Maz shows up with the saber Obi Wan lost in The Phantom Menace just to irritate people.
That mushroom looks intelligent. I’d still eat the cute birds.
The trailer was great, but just like The ForcecAwakens, the behind the scenes video got me more excited than anything. I can’t stop watching it. What a great time to be a Star Wars fan!
Mildly worried about the cutesy bird creatures pecking at Artoo.
And there needs to be a real sequel trilogy pinball machine.
What do you suppose Luke has been eating all this time?
Both Guardians of the Galaxy movies are among my favorite movies of all time.
You don’t like her, you like who you think she is. She is likely very different and less ideal than how your imagination fills in the blanks.
When I watch the despecialized I don’t see anything at all wrong. I never would have changed a thing. If Lucas were a better filmmaker he would have concentrated on making more movies instead of fiddling with the past. He wasn’t even confident enough to write the prequels without R2 and 3PO wedged in and ruining continuity.
I love the guy for creating the best movie universe ever, but I’m also frustrated at what he did to it later on.
Then he whined and said he wanted to make experimental cinema verite. Well you had more money than any other independent filmmaker ever. What was stopping you?
When I was a kid playing with Star Wars toys, I would imagine scenes like the space battle in Rogue One and Vader’s corridor scene. I certainly didn’t imagine a mentally challenged fish person stepping in poop, senate trade negotiations, or awkward romantic dialogue.
Where is Trump the Hutt?
At least they put real people in armor again now instead of CGI clone troopers like the prequels. What a stupid waste.
People forgot Woody was in a long running sitcom about a Boston bar already? And a little Oliver Stone movie called Natural Born Killers?
I loved him in Zombieland and No Country for Old Men.
Somebody send 2-1B in here with a box of tissues.
There are no holes in The Force Awakens that need explaining. Everything you need is right there in the movie. Sure, some things need to be inferred, but that is Star Wars. The the Original Trilogy was the same way. You don’t need everything spelled out. That would be as boring as a senate trade negotiation.
Maz is also the same character who glossed over the magical reappearance of a lightsaber that would have disintegrated in a gas giant (Bespin) within seconds of falling into it at the climax of ESB, so her word is hardly worth a Gungan’s foot.
Well she did say it was “a good question, for another time.” Sorry she didn’t get verbose in the middle of a First Order attack. The reappearance wasn’t magical at all. She said she had it for ages and kept it locked away. We don’t know how, when, or where she got it, and it is probably silly to debate the properties of gas giants in a fantasy movie with lightsabers and hyperdrives.
I can’t stop thinking about a new documentary now. One that shows all the changes, everything GL said about the GOUT, Harmy and other fan projects, and even show a few other movies that have been partially or completely lost because they were not properly preserved. Wish I had the ability to make something like that.
Rogue One is just so enjoyable. It ties everything together because it features elements of the Original Trilogy, the prequels, the clone wars animated series, Rebels, and even the old expanded universe. Since Kylo Ren loves all things Darth Vader, it’s possible Vader’s spot on Mustafar could show up in the new movies, or maybe one of those other places.
Baze and Chirrut from Rogue One were Guardians of the Whills. They weren’t Whills themselves but at least it’s been mentioned in a movie now along with Kyber Crystals. Maybe Snoke is a Whill. I’m sure Luke learned a lot from those books in the cave on that island
Disney is infusing a lot of fantasy elements in a franchise that desperately needed a break from the sci fi bullshit of the vong and midi chlorians…good
I loved that Maz reiterated Yoda’s description of the Force without mentioning midichlorians.
The prequels had a few bright spots, but overall it was a dark time and I didn’t see an end it sight. The special editions and prequels had turned the Star Wars I loved into a big campy slapstick fart joke. Some complain The Force Awakens has too much in common with the Original Trilogy. That makes no sense to me. After 40 years had passed, the special editions, and the prequels, something that much like true Original Trilogy is exactly what was needed. I’d take TFA over any of the special editions any day.
Now that we have TFA and R1, I went back and revisited the prequels. I found I was able to enjoy the few bright spots a little more because at least I knew Star Wars has a brighter future than unnecessary CGI troopers and horrible dialogue. Still, I cant call the prequels good movies, but I do not feel the need to ignore their existence anymore.
Prequels becoming cool? Never. I think they would be great on the new Mystery Science Theater 3000. That would be cool.
He certainly can shape the material that’s already been shot in the editing room. Almost like a fanedit. 😉
More like Ron Howard is the Director and Lord & Miller are second unit.
There is probably a lot of confusion about what a film producer actually does. Some are very hands on, others almost never visit the set.
True, but many of her detractors just visit theaters and internet forums. Armchair producers?
Baze and Chirrut from Rogue One were Guardians of the Whills. They weren’t Whills themselves but at least it’s been mentioned in a movie now along with Kyber Crystals. Maybe Snoke is a Whill. I’m sure Luke learned a lot from those books in the cave on that island
Maybe they could just make The People vs George Lucas: Special Edition with new scenes added.
I love George Lucas and thank him for creating the greatest movie universe of all time, but it was obvious for whatever reason he just wasn’t the same guy he once was. Selling Star Wars to Disney is the best thing that could have happened.
Would you rather it ended up somewhere like Fox? They still can’t make a decent Fantastic 4 movie. Sony has done only slightly better with Spider-Man. Wonder Woman was great but the other DC movies from Warner Brothers could be used to teach a class on what not to do in filmmaking. Disney was the best place. I love what they have done so far. They may make a bad Star Wars movie one day, but I bet they will make many times more great ones.
It so funny to hear some talk as if they know so much about making a movie, then put down Kathleen Kennedy. I’m betting she learned more working with Spielberg on one movie that many of her detractors will ever know. When you look at the movies she has been involved with over the decades, I trust she has a pretty idea how to make a great a Star Wars movie.
I liked The People vs George Lucas. Is it time for a new documentary? One that focuses specifically on the special editions and lack of availability of the originals?
