Discussion: HASBRO'S Star Wars shitshow.
Time

I love the 6" Black Series figures, and I don’t mind paying $20 for them. One of the problems I see though is resellers. They swoop in and buy all the favorite characters and then sell them on ebay and such for twice as much, or more. Likely your only hope of getting certain ones is to know what’s coming and preorder it from a retailer. Same for Funko, Lego, and others.

I don’t have kids, but from what I gather they aren’t into figures as much anymore. I think adults make up most of the market. I think online is crushing brick and mortar stores too. It’s easier to find what you want online and just have it show up at your door tomorrow. The days of discovering something special on a store shelf are all but gone.

In my life i have learned to take things as they are given to me. And Star Wars has so many facets, each of which has its own charm.

+2👍

For years fans of the original cuts of the Trilogy were told we were lesser fans of Star Wars for not accepting or wanting the Special Editions. Or for not liking the Prequels because they contradicted the Original Trilogy.

Now some super fans try to make others feel lesser because they like the Sequels or the newer book and comics. As if attacking others makes them better Star Wars fans, or their views and favourite Star Wars content is better for doing so.

The internet definitely doesn’t seem to be the place for finding tolerance for the opinions of others. Everyone wants to tell everyone else how it should be. I also think it’s odd that people always seem to want talk much more about what they don’t like than what they do like.

It’s fine to like and dislike whatever you want, but people thinking their viewpoint is some sort of template and the only legitimate stance is absurd. The craziest part is that all the variety in Star Wars is what keeps it going.

They still haven’t gotten a Dune movie right in my opinion. There’s action in it, but I think of it more as a drama. I thought Villeneuve split the book into two movies so he could include more dramatic scenes from the book, but he didn’t really. It’s a gorgeous movie and I love the soundtrack, but I expected more. I think Star Wars still has influence over what people think a “space movie” should be like.

Doesn’t the sarlacc also keep its victims alive inside? I wonder how long he was in there. Cob Vanth had his armor for a while. Maybe Boba hadn’t been free all that long and is just now going about setting this right.

That’s a really interesting, not to mention disturbing, idea that I don’t think I’ve ever heard theorized before. Theoretically someone should be able to survive months, maybe even years or centuries, inside a Sarlacc before they’re too far gone to come back out. It might be a bit too grim for Disney SW, but I do like the idea that he spent some time tortured inside the Sarlacc, giving him plenty of time to reconsider his life. Maybe he got amnesia or temporarily lost his mind like Maul did? Either of these ideas could explain why it took him about 5 years to go looking for his armour.

I never really thought much about C-3PO’s line about being slowly digested over 1000 years much before. I figured it wouldn’t matter how long it took you to be digested since you were dead, but it makes more sense if the sarlacc somehow bonds with its victims and they are somehow sustained. Not sure how much is known about sarlacc species. Just guessing.

But wasn’t that sarlacc pit in a cave, rather than a hole in the ground? Surely it can’t be the same location. I honestly think the best explanation might be that Boba had more gear than your average sarlacc victim and was able to claw his way out. The sarlacc likely died when Jabba’s sail barge exploded anyway.

Explaining how Boba parted ways with his armour might be more difficult. I can guess they might just not explain it, and we’d just have to accept that somehow Boba and his armour were separated for the sake of story convenience. But a cool explanation might be: after he escapes the sarlacc, he wanders (jetback is presumably broken) in search

You’re right. The area where they fight the krayt dragon does seem significantly more rocky. The pit in RotJ just has sand dunes around it.

Maybe after the sail barge exploded, the sarlacc left the Pit of Carkoon and moved into that cave. Din Djarin and Cob Vanth both refer to that cave as a sarlacc pit and deduce the krayt dragon must have eaten the sarlacc that was there. It doesn’t have to be the same sarlacc that Boba Fett was in. I’m just trying to guess what happened.

Cob Vanth says he got the armor not long after the second Death Star exploded. Boba Fett’s temporary attire and weapon suggest he spent some time with the Tuskens. They probably nursed him back to health after his ordeal.

I like the idea of Boba being tortured in the sarlacc for a while. Maybe the sarlacc can’t digest beskar and spit the armor out for Jawas to salvage. Maybe Boba wasn’t in there long at all, the Jawas salvaged his armor and left him for dead until the Tuskens found him. Maybe something else entirely. I do think they will definitely address it though.

The krayt dragon in S2E1 of The Mandalorian was living in an abandoned sarlacc pit. Din Djarin hypothesized that it may have eaten the sarlacc and move into its pit. Is this the same sarlacc Boba was in? Could he have escaped when the krayt dragon started eating it? Doesn’t the sarlacc also keep its victims alive inside? I wonder how long he was in there. Cob Vanth had his armor for a while. Maybe Boba hadn’t been free all that long and is just now going about setting this right. After his debt to Din Djarin is paid, he takes over Jabba’s palace, gets some bacta treatments, and begins uniting the crime syndicates. Can’t wait to see who opposes him and what happens.

I miss Andi and Anthony on The Star Wars Show, no offense to Kristin Baver.

Agreed, they had such great chemistry together. Always enjoyed those videos and I have very fond memories of watching Andi host Rebels Recon after every episode when I was younger. I’d love to meet and thank her some day.

I just knew they’d be back to do a similar segment for The Bad Batch, but it didn’t happen.

Marvel does have the benefit of a multitude of source material to cherry pick the best from, but even they are not entirely immune. They parted ways with Edgar Wright over differences regarding Ant-Man, and it looks like they currently have drama surrounding their sequel to Black Panther.

There was a problem with Rogue One, but they dealt with it and I love how it turned out. Benioff and Weiss turned out to be not as creative when George R.R. Martin couldn’t keep the source material coming at the same pace as the show. I wish them well and will be interested in what they end up making for Netflix. I do think the problems with Solo were allowed to drag on for too long. That’s a problem that should have been corrected sooner and could have saved them some money. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why they’re quicker to move on now.

I know they’ve said Rian Johnson, Taika Waititi, and Kevin Feige are all working on projects, but nothing is guaranteed. I don’t think Lucasfilm has been over-hyping anything, just that fans are so eager to know what’s coming next, we get excited over just the idea of something. Also nothing seems to make as good of click-bait material as Star Wars pseudo-news.

Right now we have three Star Wars series ready to go (Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, Andor), and they’re currently making Ahsoka and a third season of The Mandalorian. I’m not sure what’s next for the big screen, but looks like we’ll have plenty to look forward to until then.

Star Wars releases you previously disliked, but now like or enjoy?
Time

They hype for The Phantom Menace in 1999 was incredible. It’s one of my greatest Star Wars memories. I’d grown up with the Original Trilogy, but now I was older and on my own and with plenty of disposable income to enjoy it all my way. My opinion on the movie itself however was mixed.

There were aspects of the prequels I loved, but others I decidedly didn’t. I had a narrow idea of what Star Wars was. Neither Clone Wars animated series interested me either. They just seemed like kid versions of something I was already unsure about. The overwhelming amount of prequel-era styled material overshadowing the original aesthetic that I considered to be the real Star Wars only made me more unhappy.

One day I was home sick on the couch and bored with everything I could find to watch. I decided to give Rebels a try. I hated the animation style at first, but appreciated that it was more in the style of the original trilogy. This was the gateway. Long story short, my idea of what Star Wars was started to grow. This was also close to the time of The Force Awakens, so I went from feeling like the Original Trilogy was all the Star Wars I’d ever have, to this huge explosion of so much Star Wars to consume.

Not sure exactly why, but something just clicked, and I’m glad it did. Some of the very best Star Wars moments can be found in those animated shows. I went from not liking the looks of the animation to loving it. I still have issues with parts of the prequels, but this more open-mindedness allowed me to enjoy them more than I ever had before. The things that bothered me were still there, but somehow didn’t matter as much anymore. I think this mindset is also why I enjoyed the sequels as much as I did.

To anyone not enjoying this current era of Star Wars, all I can say is be patient. I’m sure it seems as though you’ll never find more Star Wars to enjoy again, and that new Star Wars has taken over, but nothing stays the same. Maybe the next iteration will have something for you, and when you look back you could find something you overlooked.

People seem to take the parts of Star Wars they don’t like as some sort of personal affront. Not everything is about you. The only time George has said something that really bothered me was his remarks around the time of the GOUT discs being released. Some of that really bothered me. That definitely seemed aimed directly at certain fans. Of course, as always, these are just my opinions on it all.

From the sounds of it, Filoni had a story idea centered around the character of Cara Dune, but Disney fired Gina Carano. Since they weren’t very far along in the process, they decided to cancel the series opposed to recasting. it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to me.

Oh OK. I can understand being annoyed by her showing up, since she’s not really one of the original Star Wars characters. Personally, I don’t mind it, since I think she’s a good character. I was far more annoyed that Jar Jar constantly showed up in the Clone Wars.

Jar Jar is only in 13 episodes out of 133.
