That will be a day long remembered!
That will be a day long remembered!
One person’s “detrimental fan service” is another person’s essential favorite piece. Nothing wrong with getting what you want. I don’t think seeing Vader or Dr. Evasan had any detrimental effects on the movie at all. Quite the opposite in fact. I was highly entertained, and that’s the whole point.
I suppose I like the Holiday Special mainly because of nostalgia. I remember when variety shows like Carol Burnett, Flip Wilson, and Sonny & Cher were popular. It reminded me of those, but with Star Wars. It was just a zany mess. I remember sitting in the floor loving The Holiday Special and my parents hating it. Good times.
I don’t think they will release anything until after Episode IX discs have been out for a while and they can get everyone to buy all nine movies again in one box set. So maybe 2021 at the earliest.
I’m shocked that anyone could ever sit through the entire Holiday Special. I think I might have made it through five or ten minutes at the most.
I watch it on YouTube all the time. Bea Arthur is great. It’s definitely better than the prequels and special editions. No, that’s not hyperbole. There is nothing in the Holiday Special worse than jar-jar or that Jedi rocks musical crap.
Poe needed a dose of humility and to learn his place. He did, but only after multiple epic failures that cost lives.
All movies are fan service of one type or another. People only seem to ridicule it when they aren’t a fan of some aspect.
Poe finding out the plan was how DJ ended up finding out and betraying them, leading to many deaths.
It’s funny you don’t like that much TCW tv series and yet you give such a high rank to Rebels. Both tv series share more or less the same strength and the same weaknesses (except that TCW is better made than Rebels which looks kinda cheap).
(and I also get that by your book The Holiday Special is almost as good as the OT ?)
I think Rebels not only looks better than Clone Wars, but is better written. The Holiday Special is one of those rare instances of something being so bad it;s good. It’s definitely one of a kind.
Had to make a few adjustments after I rewatched a few things.

A definitive release of the Original Trilogy unaltered and in 4K would sure go a long way toward making some of those who were disgruntled after The Last Jedi happy again.
If I can survive the prequels and special editions, then I can survive anything.
Master of the Knights of Ren could mean Snoke had Kylo kill them all as part of his training.
Where is 4K77 ?!
Saw it for the seventh time today. It gets better every time. Such a great movie with great characters and a great message. Love it!
I hope my new years resolution is 4K.
This joke is terrible. Thank you.
I do what I can.
I’ll work on it and release a special edition of it next year.
I hope my new years resolution is 4K.
The Last Jedi is excellent. Such a great character building chapter in the saga. Leia using the Force was amazing and it blew me away. What Luke did in the end was the most impressive display of Force mastery we have seen on screen. Poe learning to be the leader Leia needs him to be was inspiring.
This movie is about failure, and weather or not we can forgive ourselves, learn from our mistakes and move on.
I wish Yoda looked a little better, but other than that the movie is awesome.
I had issues on my first viewing. It’s a lot to take in. After watching it again I enjoyed it much more. I’ve seen it 4 times now and I love it. I’ve heard many have enjoyed it after seeing it again. It takes some adjustment no doubt but if you put aside your own ideas and appreciate what’s there, you’ll find a whole lot of interesting character development and so much for Star Wars fans to be happy about.
I had to move The Last Jedi up a few spots after rewatching it a few times.

I had some issues after my first viewing of The Last Jedi, but all of those melted away during subsequent showings. The only problem I really have at this point is that Yoda looked horrible. I mean really horrible.
Leia using the Force to save herself from the vacuum of space is now one of my favorite parts of the entire saga. It looked amazing and blew me away.
I loved Poe’s arc of learning what it means to be a leader.
What did everyone expect Luke to do when Rey hands him the lightsaber? Put his arm around her and aske her to tell him all of her troubles? Maybe he should have just did a Yoda impression and said she was too old to begin the training.
Luke is in a bad place. It’s often easier to forgive someone else than to forgive yourself. He went into hiding and closed himself off to the Force. Only after he opens up a little and reach out to check on Leia does Yoda appear to tell him he is still not focused on the present. He is stuck in the past of his old mistakes and is at risk of losing even more if he doesn’t wake up.
I love everything about this movie. I could go on and on.
I had some issues after my initial viewing of The Last Jedi, but I think that was mostly due to a few surprises. When I saw it a second time, most of those issues went away. My only gripes right now are how bad Yoda looked, and that the new walkers didn’t really do anything but stand there.
Leia using the Force to save herself was awesome. I like the idea of Rey not having special parents. You don’t need special lineage to be special yourself.

I liked it a lot, but I would rank them like this:
I kept seeing all the marketing showing the new walkers, but they didn’t actually walk anywhere. They should be called standers.
Yoda looked really bad. So bad it took me right out of the movie.
I don’t mind it when characters like Finn have humor in The Force Awakens, but not sure I like my Jedi masters cracking jokes at serious moments.
I still liked it very much. I am going to see it again 8:30am tomorrow in Dolby Atmos. I have a feeling it will grow on me now that I know what to expect. We’ll see.
I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I knew someone would eat a porg! Fat little birds look tasty!
