Frink, isn't this thread for everyone?
Frink, isn't this thread for everyone?
I always loved that. Yoda has a very good way of bringing out (in some ways) the worst in Luke, making him lose his temper and his patience, testing him before he even introduces himself. It's a fairly common trope in heroes' journeys.
And it's not even completely spoiled by the prequels. If you haven't seen them, sure, you're wondering what the hell is going on and why Luke is being accosted by a senile frog who talks backwards. If you have, you're thinking "oh crap, Yoda's been on his own here for 20 years, he's lost his marbles, Obi's sent Luke here for nothing and he's stuck here, the galaxy's boned." Not the same twist, but there's still a twist of sorts there.
He's not Australian, don't blame us. He's a Kiwi. But even discounting the fact that twins can sound very different, Adywan has said every damn time this has come up that he will be changing the voice in the PT to match.
Personally, I'm hoping Jango becomes Boba in PT:R.
I always thought he shouted "NEVER!"
Something something orbital mechanics something something?
Adywan is excising all the additional elements of Vader going from Cloud City to the Executor from the SE, and restoring the original line "Bring my shuttle", so as to restore the original pacing of the scene.
I expect that shot will not be used in ROTJ:R given how obvious it is; Ady expects to be doing a lot of work on that battle.
Yeah, you're right, that was stupid. First line stands though. Maybe Jabba's droids have better restraining bolt technology than the Jawas?
Who says the restraining bolt has to be in a visible location?
You're welcome for the mental images.
I was under the impression he'd already heard of it.

Um. Ew? :p
*whacks you over the head for that pun*
I'll go pop some more...

Nooo! My meme! My meme has been disgustificated!
I agree with the rest of us. At the very least if you really don't feel you can make it work, keep it on the DVD as a deleted scene. But I agree that if you go and do some other scenes for a while and come back, a solution will probably present itself.
And BmB, sit down and take a chill pill. If you don't have a chill pill have one of those chill strips, you put it on your tongue, it dissolves: chill. Or just have some of my popcorn.
Just thought I'd share this link for the benefit of those of us who haven't seen it: A Certain Point of View. This is what Adywan (or anyone hoping to make a coherent saga out of the PT) has to deal with.
*passes the popcorn*
There's also the fact that much of the plot of the OT is technologically-driven, namely the Death Stars, and that in general war accelerates technological development.
*eats popcorn*
The Purist edit exists only in SL form, and IIRC only in NTSC as well. Any DL version of ANH:R will be the full edit.
Adywan, you magnificent bastard.
On the other hand, it shows that Adywan has done one thing he set out to do — clean up the movie, rather than make changes for their own sake. It's a shame the guy didn't seem to appreciate the amount of work that went in, but on the flip side it shows that the vast majority of Ady's changes are just that seamless.
We can't see that without logging in. Any chance you could post it elsewhere?
I will be very interested to hear this.
Yoda's "there is another" line was just inserted to give the audience the idea that Luke was expendable. He wasn't guaranteed to come out of his rescue attempt alive. But it's obvious in ROTJ that Luke isn't referring to that line because when it was originally said he was in his freaking spaceship and had already lifted off. Sure you could make some wibbly-wobbly handwave and say he heard it through the Force, but it seems much more sensible to say he's referring to Yoda's "another Skywalker" a minute before.
