Just scroll down to the bottom of any GIS page and click the "switch to basic version" link.

Ah, but you're gonna have to do that every time you do a GIS, as they haven't added that as a permanent option. (unless they have by now, but that was part of the reason why people made the Greasemonkey script)

EDIT: Ripplin, your cat link worked, I'm guessing because it uses the old (non-popup) style.  Is there a good way to access that without having to remember what to type?  What's this greasemonkey script thingamajigger?

I just added it to the bookmark buttons near the top of my browser.

Greasemonkey is a Firefox add-on that uses scripts that people make. I mostly use it for workarounds to stuff I find annoying, like forced changes at Google. I've had to use it in a few places where they "upgrade" something, if you know what I mean. I do a search and sure enough, within days, someone has figured out a way to harmlessly force Firefox to may it like brand old. ;)

As someone who has never noticed matte boxes, I just wanted to let you all know that this is absolutely fascinating. Matte lines? Oh sure I see those. Matte boxes? Only ever spotted them in enhanced shots specifically designed to show them off.

Possible exception: the near three-way Star Destroyer collision in ESB?

Yeah, older versions of ESB were loaded with them. Even as a wee tyke, I'd think 'why is there a square around that TIE Fighter?' Stuck out like a sore thumb. I don't know why they didn't do more to fix those. I'm sure they could've done something, even back then. Ditto for the see-through snowspeeder canopies.
