STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

It's not so much a problem of having Ian say "Luke," as we knew about that disc...it's the inflection. When talking to Vader, the Emperor's voice is deep and gravelly. When Ian says it those two times you linked to, it's not the same. And I don't see how they could possibly be fixed to sound right. Even if it could get close, I think it would still sound off and stick out too much. Know what I mean?

JasonN's PT FanEdits (Attack of the Federation, Twilight of the Republic, & The Black Knight Rises) (Released) ** Revised V3 Cuts In The Works

And you have a point there! ;) The way I do it, I wait for a day where I'm home all day and sort of "babysit" the downloads. I start one, then when it's done downloading, I set the timer on the oven or microwave for 15 minutes. When it beeps, I know I can download again. Of course, I get nothing overnight, but overall, it's a good method. I've gotten DVD-9s in less than 3 days that way! :)

I love wonderful rapidshare and tend not to complain when someone offers to share his edits with me for free, no matter what method is used. ;) I'm not in a hurry and it's a great way to store these edits. It used to be WAY slower, too! I used to have to wait up to 300 minutes between downloads! Now it's 15, and the speed is consistent. We're laughing.

The DVD-9 is the "ultimate" (and final) edition. It has a bunch of extra features that aren't on any of the other editions.

Where is this version available for download please?

Same place as the ADM Extended prequel movies I told you about, actually. Lots of great stuff there. :)

Thanks for the breakdown, Ziz. I couldn't remember if the "semi-ultimate" had the trivia track or not. (actually, wasn't that where it said 'hey, that's me!' when Harrison Ford's name came up? Was that even fixed for the DVD-9?) I need to watch it again, with the trivia track on. Been a while. ;)

The big difference in the edits is the scene with the arm on the floor in the cantina. There are several different versions. Haha. You may have heard about "the great flipper debate," which is where it came from. Ponda Baba (the walrus man) has flipper-like hands, but in the original, it's a hairy arm, like the wolf man might have. Doesn't make any sense. So Ady made a flipper hand to replace it, but didn't use it in the end. It was then determined that it should be Dr. Evasan's arm, but Ponda's (he is the one that screams, after all!). So, the final version is a cameo of Ady's arm, as photographed by his wife. Haha.

Oh, and the DVD-9 has a full trivia subtitle track added. I don't think the other versions do. It's a great insight into how Ady made everything and some of the decisions he made. It's funny at times, too.

SAVE LANDO!!!!
Time

I know this thread is just for fun, and it is kinda cute, but this kind of thing somewhat reminds me of some of the chefs that would compete on Iron Chef. They were stubbornly old school and thought that the Iron Chefs, with their fusion techniques, were some kind of disgrace and were killing the foundations of Japanese cooking. I can understand the fear of losing the originals, but to me, if there are so many chefs still preparing traditional dishes, they won't die. Let the new guys have their fun; don't harp on them for being different and having their own fun.

As for Lando, I don't really care one way or another. [in the case of ROTJ:R] This is an edit, made to play out to one man's vision, not a preservation effort. I know that many years ago, when I first heard that they had an alternate ending for Jedi where Lando dies, I thought 'wow, a major character killed off? Neat-o!' The idea intrigued me rather than turned me off. I sorta wished I could also see that ending.

If Lando were to die, the worst would be watching it with my mother, who has had Billy Dee Williams on her 'top 10' list since he did Bingo Long. :p

There's no stopping other editors from making a ROTJ:R Purist Edition (that is taking some elements from it but keeping the original story largely intact).

The way I read it when it wss brought up, I thought it was more of a plea to release, not so much a 'Purist Edition,' but an as-is, color corrected version, as a stepping stone for other edits. Same with ESB. I could be wrong, as I'm just guessing at other people's thinking.

Ady, did you see my post about R2 falling into the hole/service bay after he fixes the hyperdrive? Any thoughts?

^I've thought about that before, but never actually checked to see. I'm not really surprised. I think a lot of that has to do with Adywan's fame now that ANH:R has been out for a while, ESB is the most popular overall of the OT, far more people have joined since ANH:R was released, plus all the great mock-ups and such that people are making. Really makes me look forward to seeing new posts in this thread, and I'm sure that goes for most of us. :)
