THE OT SOUNDTRACKS SALVAGE - SWESBROTJ -"remastered"(so far)+ LP's (Released)
Time

I recently listened to my Star Wars LPs a bit. That was fun, though the system they were on--my grandmother's decades old stereo--was definitely not equipped to play sound of that magnitude. I saw an old Marantz turntable with RCA jacks later in the day at Salvation Army (along with a matching receiver), but there's no way I'd pay $50 for it.

The thing I hate most about the PT, perhaps even more than the convoluted storytelling and good ol' Jar Jar, are the way some sound effects are presented. I refer specifically to half of the vehicles and even some of the stinkin' creatures! They all have this irritating warbling effect that I can't stand! A ship can't pass by without sounding like its engines are switching on and off ('vvvVVVvvvVVVvvvVVV...'), and even that tall green creature in the arena is like 'rrrRRRrrrRRRrrrRRRrrrRRRrrr...' Nothing can sound half normal in those movies.

Love that. funny enough i was watching airplane in HD the other night. just love those films

Thanks! And HD? How? Some channel like Sky broadcasting it in HD? Man, I'd love to see that somehow. I figured the latest DVD was the best we'd get.

Love the new shots, especially the last one. :)

It was originally shown here in the UK on Channel 4HD but i have it stored on my SKYHD box.

Nice! So, when it's on the box, what sort of format is it in? And can it be taken off and put on a computer, or disc or something? (I'm not getting at anything...just curious. But if you did feel like sharing it someday... Haha.)

Id like to see vader to his wordrobe, like batman that he has hudrends of batsuits. So many battles so many upgrades vader should be prepared ;).

Nooooo! Then they would make a bunch of horrible toys, like Arctic Force Vader in baby blue, and Construction Worker Vader in neon orange, and Hot Pink For Some Reason Vader in hot pink! Just like they do with Batman! :p

The different sky and enhanced lights make a big difference. Now there's more than one color in that scene! (which I said about a scene in AOTC the other day, too)

Oh, and vaderios, in that pic I made, they're not 'remains' of a plane, it is a plane. ;) It's the opening to the movie "Airplane!" They made it a spoof of "Jaws", where all you see is that bit of the plane going through the clouds like Jaws' fin went through the water.

"Fanboys" and "Star Wait" (fan made Star Wars movies)

Does "Star Wait" talk to the same people after they see the movie? That would be interesting. If they were anything like me, they were a bit happy just for the fact that it was new Star Wars, but also confused at a convoluted storyline, weird revelations, an irritating and juvenile new character, and a really goofy looking Yoda.

THE OT SOUNDTRACKS SALVAGE - SWESBROTJ -"remastered"(so far)+ LP's (Released)
Time

I finally got to listen to some of these. :) I concentrated on ROTJ and some of my favorite pieces from the other two.

As with any other remastering process, I kinda thought 'how much different could it really be?' But then I listened to the part where Leia is giving instructions in Echo Base and WOW! It's like there's another musician in the left channel that had never been there before! The sound is much deeper and more defined than the SE sets, which were supposed to be the ultimate versions. Ha! Everything is crisp and bright, where the SE sounds a bit...well, not muffled, but sort of narrow, if that's a proper term. Like the sound field is more focused in the center. Or like there's a layer of suet smeared on the whole thing. Ok, I'm rambling. :p

ROTJ definitely sounds better, but it's a shame that the original recording quality is so much worse overall than the other two. I have no idea why, either. Do you?! You would think it would be the best, given that it was made later on. So many aspects of that film were sloppy. Still, ABC's version is definitely less hissy than the SE version, which was my biggest problem with it, so that's a plus.

I plan to give them a more thorough listen, of course, but these are just some quick thougts I have for now. Thanks again for such a great set!
