I'm not terribly versed on Harleys. That drawing is clearly based on one, but they have a ton of models that are very similar. Beyond the big differences - Softail, Sportster, Springer, etc, I can't tell them apart very well.

If you ever make the jump, by all means, take the MSF beginner's course. Two days of classroom & riding, covering the fundamentals and the physics - they supply the bike. I wish they would have had that when I was starting out. Really makes a difference with myth vs fact where skilled riding is concerned.

Nice Virago! That's exactly the sort of basic bike I've always liked. I tend to be drawn in by the black ones. Heh. I dunno much about Harleys either, due to apathy, though I love the old WWII style ones. Those and Indians. And Nortons. Ah, what am I saying? I just love the old style bikes. A friend of mine was a Norton nut. He must've had at least a dozen frames in the loft above his garage!

I would imagine I could find a course like that in Canada too. Not locally, but probably within an hour of here in any direction. (yeah, I live in that kind of town) Perhaps at the license office I went for my beginner's license.

Great story! It's cool how a sort of bond can be formed even with an inanimate object. ;) Speed Triples are on my short list of dream bikes, but something like a Virago is on the realistic list. I'm not a rider, but I'm definitely an appreciator of bikes. I'd love to try one someday, even if it was just a scooter at first. They look like a lot of fun and would be great for going to and from work.

As you mentioned elsewhere, I do have a scale model 999. I also have a CBR 929R and an Arlen Ness custom (this one), all 1:6 scale.

I also drew what is, as far as I can remember, a 1997 Softail Classic (based on a nice one in an old Dupont Registry mag I had) for my R. "Ripplin" Buckethead (no relation to the avatar guy) comic character to ride on:

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b302/Ripplin/bikedonenom.jpg

I did think of having him on a sportier bike, but I sorta wanted his legs out like that anyway. Plus, I was on a deadline, which is why I didn't think through the color scheme properly (it's ok, but red is far from my favorite color) and the wheels are not what I wanted either. They were the last thing I did and were heavily compromised due to time restraints.

Huge CCR fan here.

Me too! The first CD I ever bought was a 2 disc best of CCR set. This one, in fact:

P.S. Would still love to see the Speed Triple, which is also a favorite of mine. It's on my short list of dream bikes. (if I ever get to ride one) I always thought it was neat how on one year of the World's Strongest Man competition, in the super yoke event, they carried Speed Triples down the course. :)

Wow, you really have finished a lot! It's neat that it shows the breakdown like that. (I'm not very familiar with video editing programs. I do wish I could find one that I could cut and paste with, though.)

What do you mean by cut and paste? What type of things do you need the editing program to do?

Well, sort of like how I use Audacity do edit audio, I'd just like to know about a program where I could remove a section and put it somewhere else or insert a new video clip, etc... Something fairly straightforward I could learn a bit with.

To be honest, I don't know why I haven't just asked Davnes or SSWR by now. Just forget to, I suppose. They do lots of nice edits and post them on YouTube. That's the sort of thing I'd like to try someday.

It'll be done ; not a moment before.

Maybe you missed it, but see, this is Sev's new schtick; "complain" that Adywan is taking too long making models and delaying the release date...over and over again. (see his signature as well) Seems to me that he is partly joking and partly genuinely annoyed at Adywan (as if he owes us something) doing his thing the way he wants to do it. I can't really tell, even after all this time.

I'm gonna check and see who posted it first. Heh heh.

You posted April 1st at 5:55 PM.

Did they do a bit about that on Robot Chicken Star Wars 2 or something?

Ah well, I guess it's payback for me telling you a video was rough when you told us beforehand that it was rough. ;)

P.S. Found this while looking up a picture of Steve:

What if Michael and J.J. made a movie together? They could call it "Seizurefest" or something, cuz it would be one lens flare after another in rapid succession! ;) In fact, since nothing else would be visible, there wouldn't even be any need to hire actors!

I guess you're right and I'm forgetting. (hey, it half a year ago) Not sure why'd they'd jack up the price by $60 when it's still, for the moment, [mostly] a joke page. Hopefully they wouldn't actually sell it for that much, especially when people saw the original price, which was probably pretty accurate for this type of product.

Anyway, I take it you want one too? :) I bet they'd get a bunch of orders from OT.com members, even from those without kids. Haha.

I thought it was $39.99 on April 1.

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/04/tauntaun-sleepi/

This Wired article seems to back up my memory. I'm afraid the $100 price tag is the $40 Think Geek price + LucasFilm royalty.

No, no, it was $100 on the page back then, but that article was saying that if they ever made it for real, they figured it would be around $40. ;) It still says $100 now because it's the same page as before with just a few changes to reflect the fact that it's actually coming soon.

At any rate, I'm signed up to get their newsletters, so I'll post updates when they're available.

***The "Darth Editous" Episode V DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a work in progress

Well, there was one suggestion I made a little too late. I think you liked it too, because you said something like 'oh, now you tell me, after it's done.' ;) It's a very minor thing, like so many of the other things others notice and I don't, but this one has always stood out to me.

Basically, it's the ol' "In fact, I, uh...also thinking about our agreement" thing. The word 'was' should be in there, but I think the way they edited the scene cut it off either completely or to the point where there's so little of it left, it's buried.

I think all that would have to be done, much like how you inserted the "yeah" in the Falcon, would be to add an 's' sound in there. It doesn't even have to be 'was', just the end of it, so that it becomes sort of like 'zalso.'

Dig? Thoughts?

Hey guys, remember that Tauntaun sleeping bag I posted way back on April 1st? No? Then here's a refresher:

Back then, the company said that they were going to try and get Lucasfilm to give them permission to actually sell them. Well, it has happened!

According to their newsletter, “TaunTaun Sleeping Bag - Lucas signs off, In production, Get notified - Exclusive pics emailed this week of final prototype if you sign up!” And on the product page, “We should have the real version of these cool sleeping bags arriving in early November.”

Interesting stuff. I don't believe any of the local stations have ethanol in their fuel. (if they do, they're not saying so) I think I'd have to go to a Shell station for E-10, and there aren't any around here. But anyway, I can tell ya, I had fresh (maybe two week old) fuel in the mower and it would not start, to the point where I had to figure out what was happening before I hurt my arm. Then when I put a few drops of the Fresh Start into the tank, it started immediately.

All in all, it's just a big unnecessary hassle, innit? :p

That reminds me of one time I was late for English class and the teacher always made us write out a full page of whatever we wanted, as long as it was a page long. I basically made one run-on sentence that spanned hundreds of words that all related to the first few words. One of those 'he said that I said that they said that I said that he said...' things. And it worked! It's just like double negatives and how you just have to count the number of them. I wonder if I still have it somewhere...
