Diggity!!

Now I know, thanks for the real facts!!

Here's the lowdown on how I scread it up....

I cropped it in the first version but the stream also has a few commercials that were not cut and the switch from DD 2.0 back to DD 5.1 really got screwed so the sync dropped at varying places (when using the ripped ac3 file with a delay) it was hell to correct so I used the resulting AC3 from HDTV2DVD (not the video though) and remuxed that with the TMPGEnc video I encoded... BUT after the few encoding tests and such (for better results) I ended up loading all new settings in TMPGEnc then muxed the video, checked sync (fine) deleted the .TS files, then authored the DVD only then did I notice the grey line You see I honestly spaced out the cropping of the final version!!! I should have redone the encoding but I started the Blade Runner video shortly after.... This set should have gone smoother but the audio stream just drove me crazy and I took the fast way out after three days of messing with it.

Updated a few discs over vacation...

Used the HDTV .TS rips from the newsgroups (.TS > DGIndex/TMPGEnc X3 encoded MPEG2) the thing is BLAK0032 has a thin grey bar across the bottom part of the picture (it's there all the time but I didn't notice it after a bit... Sorry gang I tried to 86 it but the result sucked)

BLAK0030: Science of Star Wars: Man and Machines - HDTV to DVD with 16:9 & Dolby 5.1
BLAK0031: Science of Star Wars: Space Cowboys - HDTV to DVD with 16:9 & Dolby 5.1
BLAK0032: Science of Star Wars: War, Weapons and the Force - HDTV to DVD with 16:9 & Dolby 5.1

These will be added to the next upload queue

Curbing Fanfilm/Edit Piracy

"Bootlegging" (which I feel ONLY applies if you can BUY it at the store and your trying to circumvent paying full retail price) has been around since the first Wire Recorder's came out then the Speak-O-Phone, The Reel-to-Reel recorders, Portable Cassette recorders, Mini-Cassette recorders, then the first home VCR's and Beta decks followed by CDr's (Audio, MP3, VCD, SVCD, mini DVD) and now DVDr.

It will always be around and the simple fact is that I got 50 percent of my collection at shows and conventions if not for these so called "bootleggers" I would not have my collection and I never would have uploaded the 70+ DVD's that I've uploaded to share with the whole world.... This subject has been beaten around SO many times here on these very forums (just read back into the older posts)

And I agree with MeBeJedi, spreading “bad” discs is a bad idea period as it would reflect on us (DVD creators).

This is old but, I posted this back in 2004 about eBay but it still applies to all “bootleggers” and traders (myself included here)...

No these boards are not here to stop eBay sellers from selling bootlegs - BUT it does help, The fact is it's NO big deal that they sell them - YES it sucks as they sell my Holiday Special with my artwork (for upto $100!!) but hey it happens. When this first happened I was angry but it's cool as I did post them on the internet for the whole world to get for FREE!

BUT YES - It's true that they could come HERE and get them either for FREE or way CHEAPER then they could on eBay - BUT some people NEVER research that kind of stuff SO those people NEED eBay - I mean have you seen the feedback these alleged "jackers" are getting form the buyers of these overpriced sets? They (the bidders) LOVE what they are getting and the feedback they leave the "jacker" shows this - IF they did not like the DVD's they would negative feedback.

So WHY screw it up for the fans that cannot or will not spend the MANY, MANY hours needed to track down a set of "fan-created" DVD's?

Some of these bidders do not have HOME PC's, Printers, DVD burners, broadband or the know-how to Burn, Print and create their own DVD sets. These bidders are getting COMPLETE sets for the most part - That's a TURN-KEY set that they can add to there DVD collections.

I do not agree with those that sell strictly for profit (you know who you are guys) BUT the DO have there place.

That and eBay has its own Police to shut this stuff down, MOSTLY it's just other sellers that shut down folks like my brother (WHOM sold the sets for $25 SHIPPED Priority Mail with keepcase and disc art!!) - AS WE cut into their PROFITS. It would seem that even I was reported on SELL.COM by another member who sold Star Wars DVD's on that site AS I was cutting in on their profits. - You see the true pirates SHUT us down when we try to sell cheap, this is one reason the prices stay high - If a seller comes on the scene and starts to get people set-up CHEAP those profiteers jsut report us. (by the way... I've joined the other sites they sell on!! - see ya soon! )

I just see no point in hunting down these eBay sellers, since if you do start that crusade you'll really need to hunt them down on EPIER.COM, SELL.COM and of course YAHOO auctions. THEN you'll need to hunt down the sellers that offer them on FORUMS and NEWSGROUPS....

Soon you'll come after fans like myself and a few others that upload them for free.

THE best thing for us to do at this point is EVERYONE should start to sell on ALL THE ONLINE AUCTION houses - IF we do this WE can FORCE down the price off the bootlegs on eBay and the other sites.

THAT and if they get shut down... HOW the heck will WE (as in the FANS collectively) get the latest bootlegs that WE here on the OT forums do not create?

So post on all the forums you’re on and start trading, selling or auctioning (fixed prices work best) all the discs you have as that is the only honest way that all the fans who do not have internet access or know about this and other forums like it can find these titles.

BLADE RUNNER: The Unauthorized OFF-WORLD Box Set (Released)
Time
UPDATE

The final two test MPG's are almost done!

I've encoded them using the information that Moth3r passed on to me (thanks SO SO much for your honest and unbiased input and help!!!), I used both VBR CQ and VBR 2nd pass with TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress as I found the results were better then with my first TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus encodings but ANYWAY, I'm taking a short vacation in Denver for the weekend (computer free!) and once I'm back I'll send the samples to the testers and let them pick the final video for the disc

Also before I go....

I would like to thank EVERYONE who has been helping and contributing to this project!!!

Is there a way to do this?
Time
Okay here is some noob advice...

I suggest getting either TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 or TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author PRO as these may well be the simplist DVD author programs I've ever used...

Step 1 - Get the software (you can buy it at tmpg-inc.com) and install it

Step 2 - BE SURE that you have at least say about 20 gigs of free space on your PC (if you have a mac sorry bud you'll need other info) or you can use an external HD (that's what I do )

Step 3 - Gather the DVD's you want to use for this project.

Step 4 - Now use "DVD Decrypter" to rip the FIRST DVD to your hard drive (aim it to your C drive) it will create a folder with the same name as the DVD your ripping (or you can name the folder yourself) - ALSO be sure to go to the MODE pulldown in Decrypter and select FILE. this should take about 5-15 minutes based on your PC - AGAIN only rip the first DVD otherwise you'll fill up your HD SUPER FAST!

Step 5 - NOW you fire up TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 or TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author PRO - ONCE it up and running select "NEW PROJECT", now select "add DVD Video" and browse to the DVD that you just ripped select the VIDEO_TS folder and the DVD author program will now import the DVD in the program. YOU'll then see a new Pop up window (select title) and you just need to select the longest title and audio from the pulldown (which should be your movie, the short ones are the extras and such) SELECT NEXT at this screen you'll have the two options of "reading chapter information" and "Copy to HD" LEAVE both unchecked NOW SELECT OKAY, AGAIN you'll get a new screen at the top you'll see the button "CHAPTER CUT EDITING" you'll now get a video screen with a drag bar, use this drag bar and the "SET AS START FRAME" & "SET AS END FRAME" to select the video range you wish to include NOW SELECT okay again. This will take you back to the main program.

Step 6 - NOW select "CREATE MENU" and use the pulldown to select "NO MENU" then select the "OUTPUT" button on the top, this will take you to the output screen where you will see an "OUTPUT FOLDER" option with an output path.... C:\Documents and Settings\Master\My Documents\TMPGEnc DVD - NOW you need to change the output path by either just replacing the last portion like this - C:\Documents and Settings\pockets\My Documents\JAWS CLIP or you can just create a folder and use the "BROWSE" option to aim to that folder - NOW hit "BEGIN OUTPUT" this process should take about 10-20 minutes or less based on your chosen clip.

Step 7 - Verify the output, then DELETE the original ripped DVD folder and then RIP the second DVD and so on until you have all your desired clips on your HD.

Step 8 - Be sure that all the ripped DVD's are deleted then FIRE up TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 or TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author PRO again. START NEW PROJECT > Under the "SOURCE SETUP" just select "ADD DVD VIDEO" browse to your desired first clip then it will be imported, once it's in select the "ADD NEW TRACK" and so on until all your clips are imported. THEN you select "CREATE MENU" here you can create a new menu if you wish (so you can select individual clips)

Step 9 - MENU Creation, you can use the premade menu options to make your menu or you can chose a custom menu (visit videohelp.com for details on how to do this or just google "TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 tutorial"

Step 10 - Output your final DVD then burn with your favorite DVD burning program and your done. YOU should now have a CLIP/DEMO DVD that can be played on your 60" with the proper sound and video quaity!!

HOPE THIS HELPS and BEST OF LUCK!!!!

Idea: Holiday Special on Blu-ray?

I don't care what any of you might say about HD or any other format... *NOTHING* compares to seeing a 50-foot-high Bea Arthur sing the Cantina Band song.
