A power loss at one of the terminals will allow the ship to leave."? It is available on an earlier laserdisc edition which has been mentioned often in this forum. And would be a most welcome addition to the Definitive Collection transfer.

I'm on this this weekend!

So we'll see how that turns out...................

Or has anybody of you already created subtitles for them?

I don't really need them myself, but I'd like to share the movies with friends and family, and some of them will need Dutch subtitles.

Any pointers or tips would be appreciated (you can PM me if you don't want to post about it on the forum).

Hey bud - Check out this site - IF you do this let me know, I would try it for you but I don't speak Dutch

MAN I'm so sorry I really ment this scene

This laserdisc edition does contain C-3PO's dialogue in the Death Star control room ("The tractor beam is coupled to the main reactor in seven locations. A power loss at one of the terminals will allow the ship to leave.").

I could just add it to the TR47 set - but my brother just got some heavy duty HTPC video capture going on now with some 4:4:4 hoobie doobie stuff that's all Huttese to me , He's amped to try - so we'll see what transpires.

Have the 'one last time' 1995 Laser Discs been converted to DVD?
Time
The Faces set and the Definitive Collection use the exact same master for the both of the sets - you can get this info from - here and here also

A power loss at one of the terminals will allow the ship to leave."). The film is spread over 3 sides of 2 Extended-Play CLV discs and is housed in a gatefold jacket

THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION details -

That would be awesome dude, if you uploaded the missing footage in AVI. Although based on my video editing knowledge, if were were to uncompress the relevant VOB file, add-in the missing footage, then re-export it as an AVI, and then re-encode as a VOB, wouldn't that cause that entire VOB to be "more comnpressed" and hence less video quality thatn before. I may be wrong so that's why I am asking.

I don't suppose you could create a tutorial for the entire process. I'm pretty good at video editing, but I've never done anything as far as encoding to burn as a DVD-Video, or encoding Dolby Digital sound tracks.

RATLSNAKE

I'm not sure about being more compressed. I've never done this before, so there is a good chance that it could be. The best thing to happen would be for the person who created the original torrents to take the footage and add it in to their raw captured AVI files and reencode ESB. I have no way of contacting them, but I am hoping that they can do that or that someone with more knowledge than me could accomplish the edit properly and repost the corrected torrent.

I wish I could create a guide, but I have never done this before. I do know that something like DVtoAVI or whatever it is called would need to be used to convert the VOB back to an AVI. I just don't know about the commentary track. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how they added that and synced it up to the video. I didn't have any problem with mine because I only did the regular PCM track. I guess they had to capture each movie twice and save the wav file from each audio track. Beyond that, I'm not sure what they did unless there is some way you can have two audio tracks in Virtual Dub.

Patrick

I just got the WIDESCREEN EDITION Laserdisc with the leia footage - I'm planning in capturing it this weekend as a DV then I'll be re-encoding the video. It will be done as a REPLACEMENT to the TR47 Disc (at least in my set!)

About video - YOU can edit the raw VOB or the extracted MPEG2 file with the right software. I will be editing mine to cut ALL the side changes I will be capturing each side as a individual capture then edit out and dead spots before I merge the MPEG2. GIVE me about week and I will have a new STAR WARS: a new hope. (ALSO I will be capturing both with S-VIDEO and Composite video to see which one has less "red dot crawl" < right?

Anyway BEST of luck!

As for torrents you need to have a announce url (the host of the torrent) before you can upload the torrent

The rumor started back in 1999 with the FIRST PHANTOM Edit 1.1 - My friend and I both saw a post on some newsgroup when the Edit first surfaced - One of the sources of the KS rumor, another source, more and yet again more and NOT related to Kevin Smith AT ALL - the Phantom Editor even put up his own site I found the link here back in 2001

- there was later some talk on the old Phantom Menace Yahoo and AOL Chats that someone was gonna edit the new DVD of the Phantom Edit - THIS is where I heard about the MagnoliaFan87 Edits then a few days later I found the Phantom Edit Forum and more talk about this Magnoliafan - Episode I: Balance of the Force - Edit - BACK to the AOL chats some said it was Kevin Smith (again) that did it.

SO it seems it's just "Internet" hype/rumors - but who really knows BESIDES all the real Editors themselves, respectively.

Dude I'm such a geek

Printing Star Wars DVD covers
Time
I would just burn the JPG's to a CD - At the shop let them know that you would like the print size to be - width 10.8 X height 7.293 @300 dpi.
AND Yes when printed on a bad-a$$ laser printer (like the Fiery XJ) the DVD cover look G-R-E-A-T! VERY real and VERY Professional!

Here is the specs on the cover sizes

All keepcases use the same size cover for the front and back 'the face' (1535 x 2188 pixels), the only thing that changes is the spine width.

COVER SIZES + SPINE SIZE

single: 3240 x 2188 pixels (spine: 170 pixels)

double: 3305 x 2188 pixels (spine: 235 pixels)

triple (slim): 3384 x 2188 pixels (spine 314 pixels)

4/5 disc: 3508 x 2188 pixels (spine: 438 pixels)

6/7 disc: 3661 x 2188 pixels (spine: 591 pixels)

ThinPak single: 3150 x 2188 pixels (spine: 80 pixels)

ThinPak double: 3172 x 2188 pixels (spine: 122 pixels)

CENTER MARKS

full size = 1535 x 2188 pixels
Vertical quarter mark = 547 pixels
Vertical center mark = 767.5 pixels
Vertical 3 quarter mark = 1641 pixels
horizontal center mark = 1094 pixels

And thanks for posting the "Revenge" pic as well. I'll make my set available as soon as they're done. Probably next week.

Idea: Preserving the 1997 Special Editions of the Star Wars Original Trilogy on DVD-R

Basically one to many asses rubbing the format into my face, coupled with having no problem with video outside of lack of widescreen. Also, tapes just survive better in my hand than easily-scratchable discs. I hated being forced into the formats, but widescreen and anime has made it a moot point.

As for preserving the SE, I've never liked it since ROTJ was in theatres. However, since the whole point of this site is preserving the version we love most, it seems natural to preserve the SE for those who, for some reason or another, prefer it.

I understand how you feel my Dad and Brother both have moved into the High Definition format including the D-VHS format - BTW he has captured my LD's with his JVC S-VHS Recorder DH30000 - THE D-VHS versions look almost like the actual laserdisc - better then either set (IF you want it to look just like the LD) as far as overall quality - BUT you need a D-VHS to play them and the blank tapes cost $20 EACH

SO yes a VHS (well a Digital-VHS ) can really look better than an CAPTURED, FILTER and ENCODED DVDr version

NEW UPDATED TR47 set info

This disc MAY have some errors on it - I need to verify if it's the MASTER copy or my copy - Can anyone check their discs for me??

1 - On ESB: Is it meant to be 3 seconds of complete blackness before Leias welding scene [need time marker]
2 - On RotJ: The scene where Leia and Wickett meets for the first time and the stormtroopers shoots at them, the scene is repeated for a few seconds right when the first stormtrooper shoots from the forrest.[need time marker]

It's a great transfer - it's sourced from the DVD - really good guality and yes it is Anamorphic widescreen if anyone what's a sceen capture LMK!

No man this thing is SMOOTH real nice cuts and Dolby Digital audio - NOT the best mix (turn down all the rear surrond channels as they are loud) but VERY good - real clean swips and I only noticed a few scene changes.
