Hey Rikter,

I have one question concerning the Motion Search Precision setting on TMPEnc Plus. I have been used to using Highest Quality (Very Slow), but people have been telling me that High Quality (Slow) is much faster and that they don't see a difference. I loaded up a movie and started an encode just to see how long it would take and notice that the time was almost cut in half. I didn't encode the file though as it still would have taken a few hours. Which setting do you use?

As for Soften Block Noise, I really don't like that because it also softens the picture. I guess a low number in that setting won't hurt too much.

Thanks.

Patrick

Patrick - I use High Quality (Slow) myself - I also set it to 2nd pass VBR, deinterlace and output as progressive (only IF the source is VHS or LD) and set the audio to PCM if my source is a CLEAN stereo or If I filter the audio (Adobe+Goldwave)

And As for the Soften Block Noise - I only use it when converting a LOW quality source like a downloaded AVI or QT (fanfilms and stuff like that) I use the setting at 15 x 15

Remember I'm not looking for anything fancy, just decent quality and sound , and maybe a simple menu. I can make a menu through TMPGEnc right? I thought TMPGEnc does authoring too? Am I wrong?

- TMPGEnc3XP will encode your video for you (there are also a few settings that you can change to help improve the resulting picture - soften block noise is one of them )

- TMPGEncDVDAuthor will do what you ask - You can input MPEG1 or MPEG2 and then Edit the files - then Author a MOTION menu - THEN you can use NERO to burn the resulting VIDEO_TS folder

I will help you do it - I have all the needed software and MORE - So I'd love to help

PM me about the DVD conversion stuff

Anakin on the Tantive IV!!!

But sadly..

The Naboo N-1 Starfighter is a work of art but this...........

Those new ships look stupid - I'm sorry but they do, the R2 looks pasted on...man, It just looks so weak and like some 12 years old kid just rubber cemented a box of Star Wars and GI Joe toys together - I dunno maybe I'll get used to it

-THEY should have used a Z95 Headhunter -

OR even brought the V-19 Torrent starfighter over from the CLONE WARS toon

The rest of the pictures look AWESOME!!!!

Hey there - guys!

I'm getting new DVD media Ritek G04 media - I've been told this is the best for DVD copies.

I do feel real bad about the few folks that have gotten bad discs that they could not copy - replacements are on there way OR will be by this weekend - read errors should no longer be a problem with this new media. AGAIN this has only affected a few DVD's - It was a combo of burning speed (4.5x) and lame media. (beall WAS the brand name) OH yea - some of ya'll got Verbatim DVD+R's burned at 8x - they seem to play fine on DVD players but OLDER DVD drives have BIG issues even reading them

Again - I'm truly sorry for any problems this may have caused ANY of you guys and gals.

AGAIN - I will now be using RITEK G04 media

Thanks a bunch!

Give me ALL the specs man - EVERY thing bitrate - chapter times - run time what is on the extras - are there menus - all of it.

I do have a rather full cargo hold at this time doing covers for others - but get me some spec and give me a few weeks as I'm working on a set for the Magnolia set now .

The only OTHER error besides the two that TR47 just reported - was the REPEATED Leia and Ewoks scene - this was an error that came on my master disc from TR47 - this has been corrected but the other two errors are ON ALL sets even TR47's - who above confirmed this.

IF you have a set that you got from me that has a repeating Leia/Wicket scene - email me and i'll take care of you.

Does it look like motion blurring? Prillaman seems to cast this set in a somewhat favorable light, but not having actually watched them thoroughly, it would seem he was being hasty in doing so. One thing he mentioned is that there is slightly less dot crawl on certain scenes, but honestly I'm not really sure what that means exactly-I'm knowledgeable but not an A/V expert.

I'm not sure what "dot crawl" is either or maybe I don't know what to look for, but it definitely doesn't look like motion blur to me.

When some objects move across the screen (whether it be a character or a spaceship), it looks like half of (meaning "every other") scan line of the previous frame lags behind. In ANH I first noticed it in a bust shot of Tarkin as he walked across the screen. In ROTJ it was VERY noticable in the first few shots after our rebels first land on Endor and are walking through the forest. A lot of "scanline lag" can be seen on Han as he leads the team. Looking carefully, this problem can be seen throughout all of the films, just at different intensities depending on the action of the scene.

For the sake of TR47

- I MUST STATE that ANY of these Star Wars Archive DVDr's have come from amature video producers and NO ONE has claimed to be a Pro - NOW we all have to remember that.......... So DO NOT EXPECT Retail DVD quality!!

if you want the BEST version of the Original Trilogy, you really just need to invest in the REAL Laserdiscs.

I am not blaming you for the errors, but rather duping them without checking first. If I had known about the problem I could have fixed it easily-it's fixed now and the sets are fine.

COOL then what was reported to me by a few folks and now you - The TR47 set then has authoring/encoding errors from your masters? - NO ones reported burn errors - only the two errors you talk about

Awesome - My set is then the VERY same as yours

I just wish you would have replaced them 2 months ago when I told you the disc were bad.
(the repeated leia wicket scene came from a DVD you sent me and is on the master you send me - I've since followed your advise and DESTROYED the DVD's you sent me )

SO

My set is NOW FINE - thanks for the disc Mike!!

THE TR47 set is still AWESOME - And I have em' now!!!!
