If there are no ghosts, however, it would be nice to have an explanation in the movie as to why they no longer make an appearance. Perhaps they fade out of existence after a while, or their range becomes increasingly limited and they can only show up in certain places.

Perhaps the best option would just to change their orientation so that they face the same way my pieces did. Of course, you'd have to mark them differently than the other pieces, but I can't imagine that would be anymore confusing than promoting them.

I would prefer Alec Guinness if it's possible. There's too much of a difference in their appearance for Ewan to play Obi-Wan as a ghost, after Alec has already played that part.

I think most people assume that Vader is dead and gone for good BUT I wouldn't be at all surprised if they tried to find a way to bring him back. He is after all one of the most famous movie villains ever and a lot (not all) of fans would rather see a movie with him in it over a new villain. I don't think it's to inconceivable to think that they will resurrect him somehow.

Ugh, that would be awful.

EDIT: Though Harmy's post dispelled any worry I had that that might be the case.
