At heart, hard-core OTers are no different than all the fans who discuss the trivialities of the EU and try to reconcile the various discontinuities, they just talk about different things. ;)

Very well. I have the game planned out a few turns in advance, as I figured my doom was spelt just as well if I moved my rook out of the way. However, I didn't take into account the possibility of a well-dropped rook ending it all very quickly, and I now see a possible way out (out being a lengthier game).
I think you're the clear winner, but for the sake of playing a more interesting game:

Uh-oh...

That's a relief.

I have about 25 books of my own, plus a bunch of Equinox magazines from the late '80s and early '90s. My family has a decent-sized library of a few thousand books, however, of which I have barely scratched the surface and likely never will get much further. I'd list my books, but there are three and a half provinces between us at the moment.
They include several Star Wars visual guide-type books, four bibles (NASB, NRSV, a Gideon New Testament, and a French "Version Officielle Liturgique), a Qur'an, Dune, and a couple bird field guides (I'm a bit of a birder and have a checklist going right now, with sixty-odd species checked off so far).

This isn't looking good for me. :P
I think we've only played one game in which I managed to set up a suitable enough defense to keep your rook out....

Yeah, I'm living in Québec until the end of July, and doing everything in French. I've had the advantage of being able to work for my dad without officially being hired, which allowed me to start young and without any sort of job application, and then meant that I got paid quite well for my age, since I was able to start and stop working without ever having to reapply for the job or find a new one.
I don't see this ending very well for me:

I turned 16 in March. I'm not working now for multiple reasons, the main ones being that I'm not really fluent enough in French to get a job (I can write well enough, but I still get tongue-tied trying to speak it...) and it would wear me out since it's difficult enough to do all my schoolwork in a second-language. :P
Since I likely won't get back to Alberta until mid-August, I'll miss any chance to work in the summer. After that, however, whether I work for my dad as I have in the past or find another job is dependent on where my dad works (at home like he did this year, or in his regular role in the family business). I don't have a driver's license yet, so my choices will be relatively limited in the near future.

I'm a lot busier than I used to be, but the real reason I haven't been moving that often is because OT.com doesn't send me half of the email notifications it's supposed to, so I don't realize you've moved until I check the site again. (Yes, I took note of your winky... ;))
I was hoping you'd give me at least one turn before doing that. ;)

I'll see if I can get myself out of this.

I guess my situation hasn't improved any. I could make some desparate attempt to bring myself onto even footing with you, but I think I'd better go the safe route and work on repairing my defenses.

That's good to hear as well. :)
Shoot, that's my mistake. I wrote "G-8h" above, when I had actually moved my bishop. The G key is too close to the B....
Do you mind going back to that move, since our boards haven't matched up since then?
Sorry, I should have payed more attention to what I was posting.
I just interpret that (all of the Star Wars canon, actually, when I care enough about it) as being a retelling of the "actual" events. Thus, the prequels tell the real story of Anakin Skywalker's rise and fall, but they're just an adaption and are no more accurate than, say, Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. The original trilogy is closer to what "really" happened, however.

Did the prequels have any character as memorable as Admiral Ackbar?
Sure they did. There was, uh...crap I forget his name.
I saw an interview on Youtube from 1980 or thereabouts in which the interviewer and Mark Hamill implied what Silverwook is saying. I don't remember what interview it was, however, so I can't link you to it.
Glad to hear it, ender. :)
Sooo...does that mean 8f, then? I don't have anything on 9g (or 8g, for that matter). :P
EDIT: Going with 8f, my move would be G-7h.
No, I think it's too late to take moves back. My mistake was made about four moves ago.
It seems you have skipped over a couple moves, because you can't get to 8h from 9f. ;)
Carp, I forgot that you would promote. For some reason I thought that would only happen if you moved while remaining in the promotion zone.
G-8h
Now I finally don't have to worry about that drop. I forgot that you could so easily threaten my bishop with the next move, though. I should have moved my other gold general forward.
