I believe vote_for_palpatine's count is off.

In a shocking turn of events, vote_for_palpatine has been accused of cheating.  Now, I'm just a neutral observer, paid to bring you an objective account of the action.  And in this role, I feel it is my duty to explain that it is 100% certain that VFP has been using steroids.

Wait a minute... someone's not counting correctly.

You're not the ref!  Ferris - taze him.

...3...2...(silent)...

And we're back from commercial!  I see plenty of moves have been made during the break, but frankly, I'm bit too drunk to follow it all.  So let's just say that Warbler is in the lead.  Yeah, that sounds good.  We'll have more action from the board after these messages.

VFP vs. OT.com
Time

Hello, and welcome to the First Annual Ric Olie OT.com Chess Championship.  I'm sorry we were forced to join this match already in progress, but the weather report ran long.  Something about hail or some other phenomenon.

I've got to say, this Championship Match is bringing us a clash of undisputed titans of the OT.com chess landscape.  vote_for_palpatine stood on a mountaintop and declared that he was willing to take on all who dare oppose him.  And Warbler fought heroically through an amassed army of zero others to rise to the challenge.  So far, it's been a death struggle rarely witnessed in these parts of the forum, or any forum for that matter.

As the action resumes, Warbler has just said "D2-C4  D6-D7" which is very bold move on his part.  VFP seems a bit rattled, probably due to Warbler using C4.  Explosives were thought to have been outlawed by the Geneva Virtual Reality Chess Convention of 1968, but Warbler seems to have other ideas.

Now...let's get back to the action.

"Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." What was the point?

Oh, come on, Gaff! Jeez, don't you remember how utterly confusing the original version was? Vader says "Bring my shuttle" - first of all, where is that shuttle going? Is he gonna get in it? Is he going somewhere? We don't know! Then, the next time we see him, he's in a STAR DESTROYER!! Not a shuttle, like we had just been led to believe! A GINORMOUS ship that don't look like no shuttle to me! Then again, how would I know in the first place - they don't show the shuttle!! But in the new version he says where he's going and we see the shuttle taking him there! What's not to like? We now have all the information we need!

It's like finally getting to see the Wampa monster feeding while Luke struggled to free himself. Why was Luke hanging there before? Now we know!

I don't remember being confused by the original at all, at 10 years old. You don't need to show every last bit of exposition if it's obvious that Vader got to his Star Destroyer using his shuttle that was brought to him.

Wow.

Anyway, VFP makes an excellent point, and I was thrilled to see the new version.  It was the way I always thought is should play out after I saw the original confusing version.  The only change I would make is that I would have played that part, but I am at least glad to see that Vader and I are kindred spirts.

Take the Red Letter test then.

Without describing their job/title, their costume or look define a OT character and a TPM character and let the next postee figure out who you are talking about.

I'm game.

This dude is one cool cat.  He's unflappable under pressure, gets with all the chicks, and is awesome to a fault.  He's also damn handsome.

Ah crap, I wasn't supposed to describe my look.
