If you need a source to finish out the straight presentation of the Sci Fi cut, I have it on VHS back at home somewhere. Quality won't be as good at the Hi8 tape, but it'll be better than nothing.

You haven't misunderstood the posts, the thread you're posting in is about a recut of Willard that re-inserts many of the deleted scenes featured on the DVD. No, this is not pointless. The point was to reinstate deleted material to bring the movie back closer to the workprint, but in DVD quality. Since 95% of the differences between the theatrical cut and the workprint were featured as deleted scenes, the only reason to want to see the workprint is completeism.

The reason they probably deleted what you wrote before is because it's a rule on the Wikipedia that you can't write articles about yourself or the works you've done. If someone else does it, and it seems legit, it stays up.

I believe that if you have Adobe Media Encoder with Premiere you can encode to 3rd party codecs. I make WMVs of my Premiere projects straight out of the program all the time.

I think I'll work on a composite sometime this summer. I'll probably keep the sound from the workprint totally as it is and cut in everything that's not in the flick, video-wise, including storyboards and "SCENE MISSING" cards. Those are always entertaining.

True, but I still think this is one of the more amusing workprints I've seen. I just revel in the tiny dialogue extensions and the temp score. But mostly the little extensions. That's just the kind of stuff that amuses me and, before I started editing my own movies, I'd question why it was necessary to edit out single lines and whatnot. Then I started editing LiveStock and I cut about a minute out of just single lines and it was incredible how much of a difference it made.

One issue might be with me is that Muxman freezes, but keeps working. I'm unable to bring up the window while it's doing its business, but when I see that it's not writing any more data into the folder, I force quit it and drop the VOBs into the VIDEO_TS folder. Maybe that's where the issue lays for me.

No, ArtGuy is right, there shouldn't be a 7th VOB file. At least I don't have one, and I followed all instructions. Also, I'm still getting that error in DVD Shrink:

"Invalid data in VTS_01_1.VOB"

The menus are 16x9 and the timecode is now set properly, but it still won't load into DVD Shrink. What version are you using to test that?

If you want to edit DVD footage, it's really the best idea to not edit with Premiere because you'll have to compress to some other format to edit with, and then re-compress back to MPEG2. You'd be best off picking up Womble's MPEG Editor, which is really not hard to learn if you're good at Premiere (I'm speaking from experience here).

Maybe a composite would be a good idea and very possible if one just straight used the audio from the workprint, which isn't that bad. It also seems like they may have shot it to be R-rated, two instances of the word "fuck".

I had the same problems, too. That and the DVD Shrink error. And when I play the movie back in Power DVD, the timecode is all fuxx0red, because the movie is definitely not 9hrs long.

I finally had a chance to watch this last night as well (hooray for insmonia?) and I really really enjoyed it. Great step up from the version I had (which may have even been V1.0). Slick, slick, slick. Can't wait for Jedi.
