Today, Joss Whedon's The Avengers started shooting as wel...
That fact that a really great creative mind like Whedon's is making an adaption of another franchise annoys me...
Don't we have guys like Micheal Bay to crank shit like this out?
Normally I'd agree with you, but Joss has written for Marvel for years, and has been an Avengers fan all his life. Plus, it's really close to his usual creative style (big, strange families), and Marvel has given him a lot of control over the project (he even got to rework the script to his liking!).
Yes, I'd love to see him do something entirely new and original, but I think this is the project to finally propel him from huge nerd fame to huge fame, and then he can be as creative as he wants to be.
Carrying over spoiler heavy Shutter Island discussion from another thread....

What? I don't see how it could support anything but the explanation the movie itself gave. Vanilla Sky was like that, no one understood it, even though they spend the last 10 minutes of the movie explaining what was going on.xhonzi said:
I think the movie and the book were both written to be intentionally ambiguous. While I lean to your interpretation, I think the movie supports your cousin's as a valid interpretation as well.
I agree. The movie spelled out the explanation quite clearly and definitively, I don't think there was the least bit of ambiguity about it.
I gotta agree with 3PS and 005 here. {SPOILERS} There are two exposition dumps in the movie that show the two possibilities of interpretation: the one at the end in the lighthouse, and the one in the cave with the crazy lady. The one at the lighthouse has the lengthy flashback in which his wife kills the kids and then he kills her. To me, this is finally showing the reality of the situation, otherwise they would just leave it ambiguous, as they did with the cave scene.

I loved that movie while watching it, thought it was shaping up to be a great little mystery thriller, especially when he met the woman in the cave. It was getting really exciting with all the conspiracy stuff. Then all the twists kicked in... and I was pretty disappointed. Feels like everything goes for the "WHAT A TWIST!!!" shock reaction these days. Comes off as a lame gimmick to me. Tired of it. Very disappointed by Shutter Island in the end, felt it could have been so much more.
I thought the same thing upon seeing it the first time, but the movie really stands up to multiple viewings. Once you know what is actually going on you can pay more attention to the subtleties of the characters and the mystery, and to Scorsese's great directing.
You win.
A couple weeks ago Peter Jackson's The Hobbit began filming in New Zealand.
Today, Joss Whedon's The Avengers started shooting as well, and apparently they'll be filming in Cleveland, a mere two-hour drive from yours truly.
Life is good, and I couldn't be happier!
You're ruining April for me Frink.......
I've been waiting for some covers to use for Harmy's fully despecialized collection, and those are great! Will they work for standard cases as well, or just the blu?
It is a strangely catchy tune.
Plus, I enjoyed that much more than a similar website that tracks how long you can keep watching it...

Stress and anger are killers.
Plus, they lead to the dark side.
I watched Shutter Island again last night.
SPOILERS::
My cousin was convinced that DiCaprio's character actually was a cop, and everyone on the island actually was setting him up to look crazy, even though he wasn't. I tried to explain to him that everything that happens at the end of the movie is truthful, and that he really was Andrew Laeddis, but he refused to believe me! After I convinced him to watch it again, he finally gave in a little, but still insisted that his version could work just as well. *sigh*
Sidenote: Watching it after not having seen it for a while was very enjoyable, you really pick up on a lot of intricacies the Scorsese worked into the film. Awesome movie.

Holy foodie Batman! That sounds awesome. How did you go about determining the lethality of the shrooms though? I've been tempted to gather them while camping before, but I'm always afraid I'll either start puking or tripping.

I've not seen Padalecki in action enough to make a retroactive prediction but it would have been difficult to be worse than Hayden.
I know Lucas managed to draw leaden performances from even gifted actors but I haven't seen Hayden good in anything of significance.
Hayden was really good in "Life as a House".
For Padalecki: If you're interested in Horror/Drama I recommend "Supernatural", for it is a really well written and good acted show. Maybe if you like "Buffy", you'll like this one, too.
In "Factory Girl" Christensen played Bob Dylan, and was surprisingly good. The movie itself wasn't the greatest. Good performances, but historical nonsense.

A: I read that as "browncoat" at first, and now I'm disappointed :(
Q: What was the first Movie/TV show that you really loved?

I am also really, really, really, really, really looking forward to Gervais and Merchant's upcoming series Life's Too Short which is to be a fictionalized biographical series in the vein of Curb following Warwick Davis. Warwick Davis, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant, there is really nothing about that combination of names that isn't mind bogglingly exciting. Just based on the too good to be true premise, this is going to be the greatest TV show of all time.
Didn't know about that. How many times do you think Warwick will get kneed in the face?
I didn't either, but it sounds awesome. No mention of an American airing, thank the gods for the internet!
Curb Your Enthusiasm "Me thinks the lady does protest too much."
Season 8 premiers July 10th, set in New York City, and featuring Ricky Gervais as a guest star. Can't wait!!!

It's official now! I wonder how many of them actually keep up with this thread lol.
Either way, we'll know who's idea it really was.
A: If the phone falls, I can still usually answer it.
Q: Was that Albanian, and did I translate it correctly?
That was really cool Bingo, do you know anything about that video? What is it from?
