Clone Wars toon - title crawl?
Time
Okay, I didn't understand what you were saying before Chainsaw. You're right about the other DVDs too, the other anamorphic DVDs I've ripped have been 2.35:1 not 1.78:1, and when I ripped them there was no stretching.

Now that I know why it happened, can you tell me an easy way of fixing it? Or is just oneof those things I need to mess with in my editing program?

Thanks for helping me out ChainsawAsh.

Clone Wars toon - title crawl?

I've ripped other Anamorphic Widescreen DVDs and haven't had this problem. Like I said, it shouldn't be a big deal to fix, but I don't know why it comes out that way.

Instead of having the black bars at the top and bottom like it should, it stretches the image to fill the screen. None of my other DVDs have done that, so I don't know what causes it. I noticed that the DVD case says "Copy Protection" and since none of my other DVDs have that on there, I thought that might be the reason.

I don't know. Any thoughts?

This isn't a problem with my aspect ratio settings in my editing program, I know I have that set right. It rips this way off the DVD itself so that when I capture it as an .avi file with VirtualDub it is being captured stretched out.

You noticed that too huh? I think that the problem is actually copy protection that is on DVD. I only say that because I tried other DVDs after I saw how stretched the picture became and it was native to the Clone Wars DVD only. It seems like it would be an easy fix, just an annoying one.

If I'm wrong about this please let me know. I would like to know what caused it to do that.

I swear that crawl is familiar...

I know! It was the title crawl for Episode II that I saw on opening night and was completely different than all other showings of the movie ever. It was called Episode II - The Clone Wars and in it we found out that Palpatine was actually Anakin's father and Jar Jar was actually a sith...

What's sad is that someone might actually reply to this post and ask what other differences there were in my-one-time-only-VIP-screening of Episode II that never really happened.

Don't worry, I am happy to answer all questions

New Season of Clone Wars
Time
I doubt that they will combine the three seasons on to one DVD when they can obviously make more money selling two DVDs instead. They did combine the two Ewok movies, but I think that they only did that because they were trying to sweeten the deal so that people would actually buy it. Clone Wars is widely popular, so they are probably going to try to leech as much money from you as possible. They already had the official release of Volume 1, and they are already working on Volume 2. Unless they sell them as a two for one deal I don't think you will be saving any money.

The bootlegs are nice, especially if you like the way the episodes were originally aired, i.e. complete with chapter stops and all music. The DVD has the episodes edited together only. All the chapter stops have been omitted and wipes and fades have been added to give a Star Wars feel. While this is nice and all, the transitions aren't the greatest. In some places the impact/drama of a situation is lost due to the quick wipe that was added. I was a little disappointed by this. I think they should have included both versions, but hey, that same belief is what keeps this place alive, right?

I have both the bootlegs and the DVD. I wanted to see "Bridging the Saga" and I wanted to listen to the other commentary that was on the disk. Well, the Director's commentary sucked, and "Briding the Saga" was only about 10 minutes long. The picture quality of the episodes though is first class. They look great; way better than my bootlegs.

Hopefully, now that you know more about the differences, you can make an educated decision.

Clone Wars toon - title crawl?
Time
Well, I know the Ewok movies didn't have a title crawl, but I don't know about the Droids or Ewoks cartoons. I can't think of any other SW property that doesn't have it though.

Here are a couple of fan-made crawls that were circulating around TFN after the Clone Wars came out last year. Keep in mind that these were designed for either the first season or first and second season stories only.

a).

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

STAR WARS
THE CLONE WARS

It is a period of civil war. Rebel Separatists, led
by the treacherous COUNT DOOKU, clash with the newly formed ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC. The JEDI ORDER, sworn as
guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, have
been drawn into the conflict.

SUPREME CHANCELLOR PALPATINE has ordered the deployment
of Clone Troopers throughout THE REPUBLIC. Jedi Master MACE WINDU has been sent to DANTOOINE, while Jedi Master YODA, OBI-WAN KENOBI and ANAKIN SKYWALKER meet
with Palpatine to discuss the assault on MUNNILINST.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the Jedi , Dooku travels to
the planet of RATTATAK, seeking a new ally with the
power to defeat the Jedi...

b).

Episode II ½
THE CLONE WARS

Chaos reigns throughout the galaxy. Despite
the efforts of the Jedi Knights and the Republic’s
CLONE ARMY, the Confederacy of Independent
Systems has gained an early advantage in its’
attempt to overthrow the Senate.

In an effort to turn the tide of battle, Supreme
Chancellor Palpatine has ordered the war
effort to focus on the commerce guilds bankrolling
and arming the Separatists.

Under the orders of his secret master, Darth
Sidious, Count Dooku has hired several
assassins, bounty hunters and crimelords to
join forces with the droid army and exterminate
their common foe – the Jedi Knights…

Maybe this will help inspire someone to create a title crawl for the whole series. I would love to see what kind of movie could be made now that all of the episodes are out! Anyone but me got the itch to see what can be done?

I just want to say that I like the Clone Wars just the way they are. However, I also like seeing what kind of fan edits/interpretations can be made from the same thing. We cool? Allrriiight...

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
I like your ideas and the outline you showed us Trooperman. I'd like to see what your final product is when you get the color correctiojn right.

I think that a lot of the new dialogue is good. I think the line about Padme' knowing it is forbidden could work because of their ocnversation earlier on the transport ship. However, I do think that some of the dialogue in the fireplace is good too. Is there any way you incorporate something about living with secrets? I thought that part of the original dialogue was good when you think about in the light of Anakin's rage later in the movie. It just works on a couple of different levels.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!

New Season of Clone Wars
Time
I saw it. I thought it was cool except for two minor things.

:::::::::::WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!::::::::::::::::

First, I would like to know what that bit was about between young Anakin and Qui-Gon Jinn? I mean, Qui-Gonn died before he and Anakin ever had a chance to talk about much of anything, let alone bonding in front of a tree on Dagobah. Is that some sort weird vision that Yoda is having? I would like that explained.

The other thing is about C-3P0. When he opened his robe like that to show Anakin his new golden plating it had to be one of the gayest moments on a cartoon. That funky music coupled with the way that C-3P0 stood like he didn't want anyone to see what was underneath his robe...oh my. I could have done without that particular piece of humor.

Otherwise it was great. Can't wait to see the next episode tomorrow.

How bad can it get? (The changes to the films)
Time
For a truly PC and pro-feminist version of the movies, Luke's character would have to be a female too and the force would become the "Gaia."

Also, Han Solo would no longer chase after Leia. Instead, he would be a bumbling fool who Leia approaches when she exercises her right to enjoy her body. After her tryst with Solo, he would be the one confused and following her around like a sick puppy.

Leia would be the one to destroy the Death Star, but it wouldn't be accomplished like it is in the movie. The imagery of shooting two "torpedoes" into a deep "hole" would no longer be acceptable. Instead she would destroy it by....

Any ideas?

How bad can it get? (The changes to the films)
Time
Joe Pesci has been recast as Bail Organa.

Han Solo will have a cameo and will be played by Harrison Ford. The age difference will be explained by saying that in the Star Wars Universe once people reach a certain age, they start getting younger again. So, in episode III Han Solo is like the equivalent of Ben Kenobi's age in episode IV, but in episode IV he appears much younger. This will of course be more in line with Lucas' original vision.

The CG Yoda was accidentally deleted, but in act of quick thinking Frank Oz grabbed a Miss Piggy puppet and completed the rest of the scenes. Lucas has assured the press that no one will be able to tell the difference in the final film.

Anakin Skywalker really does die in episode III and General Grievous brain is put into the Darth Vader robot. In episode V when Darth tells Luke that he is his father, he is really just taunting him. The reason that Anakin's young ghost form appears at the end of episode VI is because when GG killed Anakin, his spirit haunted the Vader suit. When Luke burns the suit at the end of ROTJ, it frees Anakin's spirit so he can appear next to Ben and Yoda. This explains why he is the only young ghost, because that is when he died.

And the beat goes on...

Idea -- Original Theatrical Prequels
Time
If you're real desperate to get that scene you could rip it off the Phantom Re-Edit 1.2 MagnoliaFan Remix. He put a link in the menu to show the differences from the original copy to his remasterd version using the DVD. It has the establishing shot of the building on it. It is poor quality being that it is from a VHS source, but if you can't get it anywhere else you could try there.

THE...

...TRAILER....

...WAS....

...AWESOME!!!!

I've watched it three times already and can't wait to watch it again. Except for a few minor things that bother me, e.g. seeing Yoda with a lightsaber, this could be the Star Wars movie we have all been waiting for!

I am back on board with SW. I cannot wait to see episode III!!!

Has anyone else seen it??

New fan-made trailer for Episode III
Time
The link for the trailer on Pixelmasgic's website has been shutdown for the time being. He posted recently about using twice his allotted amount of bandwidth for the month due to the traffic that he got after he released his trailer. He doesn't want to get hit with any more possible fees, so he took his site down for awhile. If you haven't downloaded the trailer yet, try downloading it from one of the mirrors that are posted in the thread over at TFN.

The 2 Ewok Films - '<strong>Caravan Of Courage</strong>' (aka 'The Ewok Adventure'), &amp; '<strong>Battle For Endor</strong>'
Time
I'm kind off a sucker for anything Star Wars, so...

Actually, when I was kid I was astonished to see another Star Wars movie. I thought that I had made a fantastic discovery that no one else knew about. I asked my mom if I could rent The Battle For Endor and was just blown away. When we went back I got my mom to rent me the Caravan of Courage, and though not as good, still enjoyed it. I remember thinking that the little girl was Princess Leia and her older brother was Luke...somehow it all made sense to the mind of a six year old. I thought those movies were like a prequel and that Luke and Leia had been to Endor before as kids. When you see Wicket in ROTJ he sees something familiar about Leia...yeah...like I said, I was young

I did buy the DVDs. I must say they did good job of restoring the picture.
