Nope, I’m not but nice try though. I’m living at the central coast area of California. (TBH, IN makes it seem I live in a damn cave or underground facility. I don’t.)

Ok, I was wrong. My apologies.

No problem, Warbler. Misconceptions and miscommunications can and will happen. Albiet randomly.

Besides the color correction (removing the yellowishness) we also made the following corrections and adjustments to create our 161 Minute cut of the Theatrical version:

The “flip cut” transition/optical wipe from “Tuco talking to Blondie and taking a bite of his cigar to being hung” was restored to its original version
The fadeout to black of the “gun shop owner with the sign in his mouth” scene is now a cut to exodus scene.
The fadeout of the “Blondie passing out as Tuco is bringing him water” scene happens exactly 1 second later than how it was on old MGM DVD release of the Theatrical Cut.
The dissolve from “night” scene to “coach arriving at the mission” scene now fades up from black
The shot of the train leaving the station (with Tuco and Wallace on it) was supposedly longer in the US theatrical cut, before cutting directly to Tuco in the train and not dissolving out earlier to the early morning camp scene – Our 4K of the 161 minute cut matches the old MGM DVD of the theatrical cut exactly.

Well, looks as though I should also check out a specific thread on another forum I’m a member of.
Hoping the mono tracks will be lossless.
Still keeping the R1 DVD Sergio Leone Anthology set and both of the newer remastered MGM BDs (One in the set with incorrect mono and stand-alone with corrected.) even when I do get the KINO.

Info: 'Ben Hur' 35mm for sale on ebay... do these sales happen a lot?

captainsolo said:

I just got the BD box and after researching it’s the audio that is in need of fixing. From the Last LD on a modernized 5.1 mix is used with centralized dialogue and doesn’t compare to the big bombastic Oscar winning 70mm mix. The original has directional dialogue panning and the remix has none. Some have said the original WS LD has the original audio in DPL so I’ll have to get it and give it a go.

Necroposting and quoting.
I have the BD double feature of BEN-HUR (1959) with The Ten Commandments (Just the film discs, none of the bonus features). Wondering if the 1925 version has ever been shown in HD at all and has been recorded. The third disc with the set only has the movie in SD format though.
Would be a nice preservation project.

Went back and forth last night between the Sony native 4k and the unrated, and my god the pq on the unrated killed me with it being so dark.
I have the uncut on my sky Q box and both rips but the BD will be great as it will be a proper encode, but I bet region locked

Downright hilarious you were banned from the Blu-ray.com forums.

Help: looking for... "Home Alone 2" - Seeking 35mm/16mm print for scanning

I can’t offer any help with obtaining a film print but I’m very much interested as to why you feel the H.A.2 Blu-ray is poor quality. The only information I’ve been able to find so far are here: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=12922453&postcount=69 and then very briefly, here: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/2548/homealone2.html

Can you elaborate about the problems please?

What about the HDTV broadcasts? Are they an improvement or have they been sourced from the same master?

Like many on the forums have complained the film has a ton of grain and the bitrate is really starved compared to the Home Alone 1 release. The colors look dull, nowhere near the way I remember seeing the original in theaters. I’ve recorded several HDTV broadcasts, and I do have a 10gb HBO capture that I would rate as being a little better but they clearly still haven’t done a re-mastering of this film. It’s a shame too, considering this would be the 25th anniversary.

The import is on a bd-50. It’s not bit-starved at all

It also has far superior compression. Only thing it needs would be bonus features.

I wouldn’t go that far. Except it does belong in the Religion section.

I’m guessing that I was referring to the 2011 revision of the NIV when I typed that.

no worries. Yeah, the 2011 NIV has received a lot of criticism. Many think it has been politically corrected.

Ancient mythology is some of the least politically correct writings in human history. I don’t see why people even try; they should just take it as it is.

Needs to be a more direct translation, IMO. Certain versions leave out more stuff than others.

For anyone within traveling distance of the Castro Theatre in San Francisco…

THURSDAY JULY 13 THROUGH SUNDAY JULY 16 SPECIAL EVENT
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY Projected in 70mm
Thu & Fri 8:00; Sat & Sun 5:00, 8:00

Four years in its creation, Stanley Kubrick’s metaphysical science-fiction epic traces man’s history and his contact with new life. Revealing itself on an almost subliminal level, this mind-bending masterpiece is a landmark in film history. With Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood and the soothing voice of Douglas Rain. (1968, 142 min + intermission, 70mm ‘Scope)

I’d love to go see that but I’d doubt I’d make it. One of my all time favorite movies and never seen it in 70mm.

Half-assedly reading Harry Potter (All-in-one), METRO 2033, THE WITCHER: The Last Wish, and a random H.P. Lovecraft. Was reading Thinner but I lost the bookmark.

[…] I was actually softening a little in my heart on my stance against the prequels. I was even vaguely considering watching them again at some point.

Oh boy, the “giving-the-Prequels-one-more-chance” thing. That comes in my mind from time to time too. I have not seen the Prequels for quite a while now in order to forget them as good as possible. But on the other hand, i’m saying to myself: Hey, they can’t be that bad? Let’s rewatch them completely open-minded. I did this two times in the past … but those movies are not getting better

I made the mistake a few years ago of falling into the “maybe I’ll give them just one more go” trap. No, they were worse than I remembered. After that I physically threw the DVDs in the trash so I may never again be tempted. My household is officially prequel-free.

I almost bought Revenge of the Sith on blu-ray when the Steelbooks came out because I am a steelbook slut. Thank god I came to my senses before it was too late. Spent the money on a UK Firefly steelbook instead.

Why not the UK Steelbook of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy? Has great graphic design on it.

Ever since I was a wee lad I wanted to see every Robin Hood movie ever made. It’s not a burning desire so much as a sustained curiosity. According to Wikipedia, there are a whole lot of them to see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_and_television_series_featuring_Robin_Hood

However, I’ve limited myself to only Robin Hood movies released in theaters. From that list I own the following, annotated with their best quality:
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) - The best Robin Hood, period.
The Story of Robin Hood and his Merrie Men (1952) - The best Maid Marion.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) - The best outlaw hideout.
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) - The best Errol Flynn since the original.
Robin Hood (2010) - The best rendition of a realistic England.

Furthermore, I have seen and wish to own:
Walt Disney’s Robin Hood (1973) - The best Prince John, Friar Tuck.
Robin and Marian (1976) - The best old man Robin (sorry, Russel Crowe).

This leaves me with quite a few movies yet to see, mostly from the 20’s-60’s era. Does anyone have a recommendation of a version of the tale (TV or film) that I simply must see?

Isn’t there a silent version with Douglas Fairbanks? Could’ve sworn it was made around the time of The Mark of Zorro. No, not the Tyrone Power version. There’s also the 1980’s UK TV show, Robin of Sherwood. I recommend it but not fully, only because I haven’t seen it in ages and I need to rewatch it soon. Even has Jason Connery, Sean’s son, playing Robin Hood in the latter part of the series. There’s also a Robin Hood movie which was also in 1991 starring Patrick Bergin (sp?). Was shown on TV in the US of A but I believe it was shown in cinemas overseas. I might’ve seen it ages ago but for all it’s worth and if you can find it, I suggest watching it.

My complete DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray disc/UHD collection. It’d be too long to list each title. (Blu-ray.com link should be fully updated with BD and UHD. FilmAF has the first two formats included. Yes I import too! Too much of a wishlist though.)

MAC or PC
Time

Windows 7 and 10 for me (dual boot). Macs are PCs though.
Self-built computer with decent graphics card. Would rather have the 1080Ti. Even though my current dual major is Digital Media - Web Design & Digital Publishing, I highly prefer Windows since I’m more familiar with the shortcuts and have been using the operating system for far longer. Plus side is since I have a 970 FTW I can have the Adobe programs, CC 2015 and CC 2017, strictly use the VRAM from it. Not just for games, re-encoding stuff, and making Blu-rays on my machine.
Except I want to build another computer. I tend to stay with AMD since I’m more familiar with them and nVidia for graphics cards. Majority of everything else is ASUS.

Our dog has been pretty miserable the last few nights.

My neighbors dogs tend to freak every time there’s a big boom.

There were idiots firing stuff into the air over New Year’s just down the street. Real fireworks, not just firecrackers. If the roofs had not been soaked from the winter storms, I’m sure there would have been a fire or two to kick off 2017.
The management quietly hired a security guard last month who patrols at night. Hopefully they’ll keep a lid on the shenanigans, at least inside the gates. Plenty of idiots that can fire stuff off in the strawberry fields around here though.

Always loved the word shenanigans. Where might you live near if you don’t mind me asking?

DEAR GOD SILVERWOOK DON’T ANSWER THAT QUESTION

I live near, sorta, places where there are many farms but isn’t fully rural. Is it taboo we don’t know where any of each other lives at? Time zone though is PDT cause of course this time of year, location varies obviously, Daylight Savings Time is in effect.

I thought this was a Star Wars site but by the look of a lot the new users here it doesn’t seem like that anymore.

I’ve been really weirded out recently by how much energy people have been expending on making sure everyone knows that they’re so totally over Star Wars.

That’s the badge-wearing “I hate Star Wars!” “I hate Disney!” crowd, who hates any new Star Wars regardless of quality (but still of course sees all the new movies multiple times anyway).

I’m done BUYING more Star Wars shit. I don’t mind seeing the movies and shows though. Got to be too expensive. In fact just to drive my opinion more soundly, I prefer Rogue One over The Force Awakens. Enjoyed both though.
