msycamore - I sent you a PM.
msycamore - I sent you a PM.
I still have one of those decks - and it still works!

"better sound in the movies is a must now that the public is hifi conscious and yes indeed---we'd like to here it on TV aswell"The Robesonian 11/24/1977
Ok, I still don't get the point. In fact, the above quote supports MY point... that the public in the late-70s was very hifi conscious (as opposed to your original claim).
p.s. - "we'd like to here it..."?
Some of us here in the western hemisphere get these stories later.
Don't miss "Blink" - best Who episode post-Tom.
PM sent.
I think the orange in some of these scenes in cloud city is apparent on the 16mm PSB that I'm working on.
The true reason for Anakin's rage against the Jedi is actually because he discovers that he isn't the father of Padme's children. The actual father is Yoda.
I'll prepare them both and you can decide if you can use them.
I liked Tennant himself as the Doctor. I just didn't like many of the Tennant episodes. The partners, and all the soap opera drama.
Ok. Silverwook suggested you might need some of the credits too?
I finished scanning the print of thx. So now the question is, what do I do with the scans? Msycamore, which exact scenes do you need? Keep in mind that the scans are frame-by-frame, so they'll require pulldown. Audio is grabbed separately, so they will require careful sync. If you let me know exactly which scenes you need, I can give you the raw stuff to work with. It will also require heavy red reduction. I'm assuming you'd prefer to do all of the above yourself.
After that, I'll probably put together a dvd-5 of the whole film. It won't be great, but I might as well.

Nice article. Although I'm not sure how it bolsters your point.
How about at the end of ROTJ, when Anakin's mask is off, he says "Yessss!!"

When people went to watch SW in 70mm back in 77'----all they had in their homes were crude mono sounding TV's(and stereo gramaphones for their vinyl's) So they were always going to be blown away by a 6 track magnetic audio presentation in a cinema!!
Nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised if the stereos in people's homes sounded better in 1977 - on average - than they do today. Back then people typically listened to music in high fidelity, whereas today people are accustomed to listening to music that has suffered from the "loudness wars", and/or been squashed into mp3 and listened through earbuds. So one could argue that on average a person visiting a theater in the late 70s is more likely to be able to discern a lack of dynamic range than today's average listener.
"Gramaphones"? The Gramophone company went out of business in the 1930s. My memory of the late 1970s was Macintosh, Thorens, Pioneer, M&K, Klipsch, etc. Quadraphonic surround had been around for nearly 10 years.

Actually, I flat-out loved ROTS. I believe that if that had been the only prequel released, there would be no stigma of any sort attached to the prequels.
That was my least favorite, believe it or not. I would agree though that there might have been less stigma, just due to the absence of Jar Jar.

Don't know what CPY is, but if you meant the Don Rickles/Swamp Thing mash-up they called Yoda in the TPM puppet, you and I have TOTALLY different tastes!
CPY = "creepy puppet yoda" (I just invented that acronym). The reason I like him/it, and jar jar, and midichlorians, is that the only way I can stand to watch the prequels is as train wrecks. Removing the poorly-done elements just leaves boringness. At least with all the hilarity, they're good in a "Plan 9 from Outer Space" sort of way.

I guess there is one big problem, though: I DEFINITELY prefer the CG Yoda to the Don Rickles-esque TPM puppet!
Awww, CPY is my favorite part of the movie! I'm very sad to see it replaced.
Nice documentary, BTW.
Perhaps you are mistaking bashing the SE and the prequels, with bashing Lucas. But I'll admit that when discussing things that we don't like, it is natural at some point to blame the perpetrator - and it's usually (but not always) Lucas.
The "People vs George Lucas" thread was about a documentary with that title. In it you will find discussion of the documentary, not much Lucas bashing.

I meant the General Star Wars Discussion forum. Others aren't nearly so bad. And I understand that it's originaltrilogy.com, but it just amazes me that there is no end to it all. I swear, if the world ends tomorrow, someone on this site will use their last moments to criticize George Lucas, maybe going so far as to blame him for the cataclysmic event.
Hmm, I can think of two people. That's about it.
Hmm, I never thought that most threads devolved into a Lucas bash. Maybe that's because I mostly hang out in the preservation section, where people are too busy regaling the latest recovered pixel. Now if you had said that most of the threads devolve into bashing kenkraly....

Puggo is the man. Cannot wait to see any of his up and coming projects.
Thanks, although as always, check one's expectations at the door before watching any of my projects. THX is going to look pretty awful. ESB and ROTJ should look pretty good. The "puppies" should look totally awesome.
I'll try to put some screen grabs up soon.
addendum: I should also mention that the print is full frame, not scope.
I've finished capturing reels 2 and 3. Still have to capture reel 1. It's worse than Stjarnornas Krig. Virtually no color left at all except red. And it is heavily scratched... reel 1 especially has deep, wide green scratches that run the length of the reel. The sound is good.

If you wanted to get the full idea of the PT or OT you needed to read the EU or at the very least do a breif overview of it.
Really? For the OT? I guess I've been mistaken all these years.
Grindhouse films also amplify the blood and gore, which would be suitable for Jurassic Park!
Another idea would be to layer some heavy metal music on top of the classical music, to make it a little less "majestic".
