HAHAHA.  Oh god, that was so funny.  I about spilled my coffee.  So fresh! So original!  Have you told that joke before?  Can't recall ever hearing it.  You must be even more original than I am!  But in all seriousness, my favorite chinese restaurant is closed today so that is what I'll be bitching about.

Sorry for the triple post, but here's the mock up:

https://vimeo.com/89937415

Keep in mind that it is very rough, meant to show only how the ideas work.  The edits are rough, the timing of the edits are rough, and obviously I need to work out another solution for how to actually end the scene.  (Opinions?)

(Perhaps after Ackbar announces that lando is leading I should find a way to fill in a few seconds so that it registers with our viewers that the briefing is over, and THEN insert the dialogue where han says "well, look at you, a general huh?".  I'd have to do some tweaking to the video there, because it would look very odd to have han sit down, stand up, then sit back down again.)

Also, GOUT video is used only because I was in a hurry to do this very quickly and that was the video file I found first.  When I go to edit the actual film Blu ray video will be used.  (I'm still planning all my sources out)

You're probably right.  I just really hate that my n64 games now look better than my wii games!  Although I have noticed that on a tv screen of say 37 inches wii games do look much better on crt television than hd televisions of the same size, less jaggys.

If I could only get Dolphin to run at full speed... I've got a quad core computer that's less than 6 months old, I don't see why it won't.  Then again I know next to nothing about computer specs.

(Dolphin is a wii/gc emulator that has the ability to run the games at *true* hd, by rendering the actual individual graphics in hd the way a N64 emulator does, instead of just stretching the overall image like the wii U does.   It looks AMAZING, but it runs slow)

Just discovered my dad has an HD 1080P television with a 4:3 screen aspect. I did not know this even existed!

On a similar note, does anybody know if there exists a SD television with a 16:9 aspect?  I ask because that would be ideal for playing nintendo wii games, because wii games are 16:9 (or can be) but the wii is not HD and on my HDTV, well it doesn't look so hot.

As a matter of fact, nintendo 64 games played in HD (with an emulator) look better on my TV than wii games do.  That's just sad.

I just uploaded a VERY, VERY, VERY rough mock up of how the rebel briefing scene could go to vimeo.  Said it should convert in 45 minutes or so.

I threw this together really fast and is meant to show the concept rather than the edit.  The cuts are rough, and some things need timed differently, and some things need more time in between them due to the editing, but fear not I will address these issues later.  I'll post a link when it converts.

That's a good complaint actually.

Here's another: The Mega Man US box art is the worst... ever.

WTF?!

No arguments from me on that.  It is pretty bad. I kindof like the X series artwork though.

I think it's kind of a funny parallel that Mega Man 6 AND Mega Man X 6 were both very (and obviously) rushed to release and are both one of the worst in their respective series.

(Mega man 8 is my least favorite of the originals.  The voice acting is so bad I can barely stand to play it.  And when I play mega man x4 I always play as zero because x is still voiced by the same girl that voiced mega man in mega man 8.  Zero's voice is pretty bad, but at least they got the gender right)

That's a good complaint actually.  I played it on the "Anniversary Collection" for the ole' gamecube though, and that introduced a save feature so I'm not too bothered by it.  (My nes doesn't work anymore)

Hmm.  Well then I'll one up you.   I would like to bitch that Mega Man 5 made the world falsely believe Proto Man is evil.  (Even the producers of the american cartoon series were fooled apparently)

Mega Man 3 is my favorite of the originals.  But the Mega Man X games for the super nintendo were just absolutely incredible, especially the first 2.  IMO better than anything in the original series (not that the original series could be blamed for this)

I don't really know what this debate is about.

My personal belief is that there is a "god" throughout the whole universe.  He may or may not be a part of an organization that he is the head of, he may be by him/herself, I don't know, and that's not really the central focus of my belief.

What I really believe, is that all gods that people believe in are the same and have just had their backstories changed by all people's different races interpretations of the story, in combination with different alterations due to word of mouth, and all people have had those that are "corrupt" that wish to bend the religion to their own personal tastes.

I believe in "spirituality" more than a specific God.  I think people of all races have taken what is true and changed it through the evolution of their own cultures until what was once one has taken a variety of different stories and gods as they are now.

For example.  Do I believe the god of the bible exists?  Absolutely.  Do I think everything the bible says is true/happened?  Absolutely not, the stories have all changed and with every new generation the story was warped until it was written down.  I believe that god exists, I do NOT believe every commandment in the bible came from him.

Other polytheistic religions I believe also have their ROOTS in things that are real.  I believe they have seen/felt the beings that they call their gods, but have simply given them their own interpretations which may each have their own correct or incorrect assumptions about each of them.

The chances of intelligent life evolving on other planets in our universe without a master designer is, are I said, incredibly slim, even in a universe this size. This wouldn't be the case in an infinite universe, though, which would be infinitely larger than ours, and thus have an infinitely greater chance of producing multiple intelligent life forms.

With an intelligent designer, the chances of intelligent life elsewhere are significantly greater, though that depends on the nature of said designer.

If there is a supernatural force helping us along, why does that necessarily mean they haven't helped other places as well?  Even if you believe the bible, nowhere in the bible does it say we are alone in the universe.

(but it does say the earth is round and also that the continents used to be together as one which was not accepted as fact until much later but that's a debate for another time)

I think that with the universe being as huge and infinite as it is, the conspiracy to convince people that the only intelligent life in this whole universe is all on this little planet right here is pretty insane.

Not going the whole "Oh I was walking in a field and got probed by aliens" route, I'm just saying that thinking that we are the only intelligent life in the WHOLE universe is very short sighted and closed minded.

Well, if anybody cares I've decided to just use the blu ray track.

What do you think of removing the whole notion of a "strike team" being mentioned in the briefing scene?  I'm thinking also of completely removing han, leia, chewie, and all "familiars" from that scene and have it just be a brief rundown of the plan, showing the aforementioned characters but not having them speak, because everything they say is unbelievably hokey and campy.

Or maybe mentioning the strike team, but not having it directly said that Han is captain and all the "General, count me in" moments.  I'm hoping it will work to just mention that there IS a strike team, and having the audience infer who it is when we see them all together in the imperial ship.  Even if the audience doesn't infer that, it's not really a loss to the story.

Any opinions?  Interest in this edit seems to be fizzling out, but that's probably my fault due to the on again off again nature of me with this project.  For what it's worth things in my life have settled down and I'm nearing completion of my musical project I've been working on (Non SW related) so I will have some of my "creative" time freed up soon.

Your first option sounds a lot better. The scene should only focus on Mon Mothma, Admiral Ackbar and General Nadine (i mean..Madine). All that hokey and campy dialogue just distracts the audience from the importance of that scene.

Suggestion: if it is possible to arrange the scenes, after we see Ackbar on the upper deck, cut the dialogue between Han & Lando and go straight to Mon Mothma's scene. She calls on Ackbar. After his line "the sheild.....before attack is to be attempted" insert the part where he calls for Madine. After Madine's line "a strike team....deactivate the shield generator" continue with Ackbar's dialogue from "once the shield is down....knock out the main reactor". After the flash that ends the hologram, you could then transition to the docking bay scene. Since Luke mentioned earlier that he'll meet them back at the fleet, it would explain why he is in the shuttle with the other.

Personal thought: I think that making Han and Lando generals was an attempt to show the transformation of these two characters from selfishness to selflessness, from struggling for personal gain to struggling for a greater cause. It is a common feature in various mythologies. I guess it could be one reason why Han was originally intended to die in ROTJ as part of his self sacrifice.

That is an interesting idea indeed, not sure how it would pan out in motion, but I might try to make a mock up of that.  I appreciate your input.
