Overlooking all the problems with the blu rays( it's additions or it's unfixed problems) is the 1080p pq make it worth the purchase??

Don't forget the DVNR. In my opinion, they did cleanse Star Wars of some of its character by removing too much grain. The crushed blacks are bothersome though; you do lose detail, stars, and lightsabers. Furthermore the 2004 version was only done at 2K.. If this is of no issue to you, then I suppose the Blu-Ray may be fine for you.

Normally HDTV vs Blu-Ray comparisons appear on AVSForum. You just need to wait for them. They've done ones for Back to the Future and Aliens.

By sheer coincidence, the Lost in Space Blu-Ray comparison shots are from the AVS forum, too!

Really? You think the pq of the SW bd's are terrible? I'm not dismissing your opinion, but the 720p bds of Empire and Jedi looked good. I'm a big Star Wars fan, always will be and of course I've wanted to see them on BD. I'm getting different opinions on the PQ ,still. I'd love to see 1080p screencaps, still.

Well, terrible may be an overstatement, but then again, maybe not.  There are issues with crushed blacks, blue tints, and dull lasers and lightsabers, etc.  That accounts for the bad PQ.  The high video quality doesn't add much enjoyment when the picture quality is this bad.

I heard the 2006 set with the GOUT is now gone...

Was reading a thread elsewhere, with several people chiming in, mentioning how the 2006 DVD set with the GOUT included has been allowed to go out of print.  So not only would there not be DVD versions of the films available (seems odd, as a lot of people still use DVDs) and also there would (again) not be theatrical versions available.

Is this true?

Reactions, if it is?

Here's my 2-cents on the matter, using the Lost in Space Blu-Ray discs as an example.

There are two releases of Lost in Space on Blu-Ray: the Alliance Release and the Warner Release.  They're both the Theatrical cuts, mind you.  (It wasn't popular enough to have any other version made)

The Alliance release is in 1080i, and the Warner is in 1080p.  View the thumbnails in full rez for the best comparison.

The Alliance looks nice and sharp, but dull in some places, to say nothing about the interlacing problems.  Come to think of it, this may be how an HD Laserdisc would look.  IMO.

The Warner has a new transfer in 24p, but looks more blurry than the Alliance, has an orangey-yellow tint, and crushed blacks.

I made the comparison before purchasing and then made my decision.  I'm very happy with my Alliance copy.

EDIT: The moral of my story is that picture quality is more important than video quality.  The picture quality of the official Star Wars BDs is terrible, whereas the picture quality of the preservations here are superb.

For the love of god, please tell me they did not cgi Yoda in Empire strikes back, if they did i will be beyond angry, i will be furious, since Kersh so recently passed away.

As long as we get our Original Theatrical versions alongside the Special Edition, Lucas can CGI Yoda wherever he wants.  But we all know that won't happen any time soon.

Tron: Legacy

It...  It...  It...

It had good editing.  They edited the video around the score, rather than the other way around.  Therefore, the recording versions are ALSO the film versions. :)

Hmmmm....

Thank you! :)

Sir, I must inform you that a barrel roll is horizontal. You mean something more along the lines of a somersault.

True, but somersaults aren't nearly as cool as barrel rolls. ;)  Though neither of them are as stupid as wintersugars.

He's been stalking me and quoting my posts for a few days. It's probably best to ignore him, as it's clear he hasn't made an effort to understand a very simple point demonstrated by Lucas putting prequel content in the originals, focusing the movie names on "episode #" rather than main title, etc.

I could very well ask this guy to prove that George Lucas only wants people to accept the prequels as part of the saga instead of liking them as much as the originals. Could he prove it? Nope. Hopefully this poster stops spamming the thread with his redundant, illogical statements and petty squabbling over semantics.

That's because he is Beast.

DARTH BEARD
The apologist fanbase has been expecting you.

FANS
We know, George.

DARTH BEARD
So, you have accepted the truth.

FANS
We've accepted the truth that you were once George Lucas, an independent visionary.

DARTH BEARD
That name no longer has any meaning for me.

FANS
It is the name of your true self. You've only forgotten. We know there is integrity in you. The greed, arrogance, and senility haven't driven it from you fully. That is why you couldn't destroy the OT negatives. That's why you won't convince us to ever love the prequels.

DARTH BEARD
I see you have constructed a new anti-revision movement. Your skills are complete. Indeed, you are powerful, as the apologists have foreseen.

FANS
Come with us.

DARTH BEARD
Gary, Irvin, Marcia, Lawrence, Howard, and Richard once thought as you do. You don't know the power of greed and arrogance. I must obey my inflated ego.

FANS
We will not turn...and you'll be forced to completely ruin the OT.

DARTH BEARD
If that is your destiny.

FANS
Search your feelings, George. You can't do this. We feel the conflict within you. Let go of your arrogance.

DARTH BEARD
It is too late for me, guys. The apologists and prequel lovers will show you the true nature of the tired, diluted, worn out Star Wars saga. They are the true fans now.

FANS
Then Star Wars is truly dead.

BRILLIANT!!!!!

Funny that NO ONE is talking about the BD prequels apart from the TPM digiyoda (which I think IS a change for the best considering the awuful puppet)

IMO, the new Digital Yoda is a good change, but they need to get it to match the dialogue better.  You'll notice that Yoda's voice was darker in Episodes II and III.  It was much higher in Episode I.  This sort of throws me off.  New CGI Yoda would require altering Yoda's voice or re-recording it from scratch.

Ultimate Villains

Best villain to love: Rene Belloq (He had good manners where Indy had none)

Best villain to hate: Jenner (Going so far as to kill Nicodemus?  That is bad to the CORE)

Best villain to love to hate: George Lucas (I hate what he's doing and ignoring today, but I have hope)

Other: Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Least Villainous, Most Incompetent.  Every "Inator" he builds, he puts a self-destruct button on it.)
