kk650's Regraded Blade Runner 2049 (2017) V2 (blanket yellow tint removed from blu-ray) (Released)
Time

A warning to all who go to the usual place now for kk650’s regrades (not the organ) -

I went there today to grab the regraded Blade Runner 2049 v2, and got a nasty ransomware scare. For some reason I couldn’t log into the site today in Firefox (I just registered yesterday there and it worked fine yesterday when I first registered). So I tried it with Internet Explorer, as sometimes my Firefox add-ons are very aggressive with blocking bad things. I forgot that I had also temporarily disabled Malwarebytes. As soon as I went to the site in Internet Explorer, a scary pop-up came up over the site that looked like ransomware, complete with the “your computer has been locked” and instructions how to decrypt your drive after paying. Luckily, it appears to be a fake, as I was able to crash IE with the task manager, and after running full system scans with Avast and Malwarebytes, there is nothing to be found.

But regardless, this is not a place you want to be. It’s sad to see kk650’s regrades getting uploaded there, as A) The site seems to not work properly as I can’t log in, and B) it serves up nasty ransomware scares and who knows what else.

I implore KK650 to find another place to upload his material. I will no longer be visiting that place.

Is there a studio master version of this that exists out there? I’m confused. I have the Zion Hybrid v2, the Gormaanda Hybrid v2, and the Editdrid, all on the organ. Is there one I missed?

No. The Editdroid is sourced from a station master tape. I believe the Zion Hybrid v2 is taken from that same source, but someone spliced the commercials back into it and also did some editing work (I forget what and don’t want to mislead you, but I recall it was aimed at making the picture slightly better). I’m not familiar with the Gormaanda Hybrid. But, no, I don’t think there is one you are missing.

Thanks. I was wondering how I would have missed one. I dind’t know the Editdroid came from a master though, so thanks for explaining that.

I haven’t watched this yet (planning to check it out later today), but I noticed the frame rate is 60fps for the .mov file. I’m curious, what was the source used for this that the finished file is in 60fps?

I’m guessing since you have a blu-ray coming that it will be 23.976?

The color looks outstanding from what I’ve seen so far. I believe that this may indeed be much closer to what it looked like originally in theatres.

Is the full-frame laserdisk open-matte, or was it just cropped for 4:3? Either way it will be a cool extra.

I export everything in 60fps just to ensure that theres no lag (final cut pro is weird about that sometimes). It doesn’t upscale at all, so it’s still technically at the normal framerate, so it shouldn’t look any different. The laserdisc that I have is cropped to 4:3, (I’m not even sure if an open matte version exists). It will actually be available as a bonus DVD since I didn’t have time to include it on the blu-ray.

Thanks for the explanation. So it keeps all the same frames, not interpolated, so it keeps the same motion, but it still technically plays at 60fps, so it’s not true 23.976 output, correct? I’m guessing the blu-ray will be true 23.976?

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

Are there any plans to address some of the bad Rancor shots? Some shots look great, but others, especially some of the close-ups, look awful against the blue-screen backgrounds. In those shots the Rancor really doesn’t look at all like it’s in the scene. Those shots really hurt the entire scene imo.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Adywan,

I won’t get a chance to watch this until this weekend, but I was curious to see if my name was in the end credits and I see that I am but my real name was mis-spelled. I sent you a PM. No big deal but I figured there’s no harm in mentioning it in case you’re going to re-do the end titles to fix other typos for the blu-ray.

So excited I’m finally going to get to see this. So much hard work has gone into it. It’s truly the most complex fan-edit ever released.

Star Fleet/X-Bomber (1980) Remastered Edition (a work in progress)
Time

Thanks very much for that review. I was wondering when this was going to get released. I’m rather disappointed by the news honestly. I was hoping it would have been closer to the French masters. I already own the UK set, so now I’m wondering what to do. I’d certainly appreciate the NTSC, but with the image itself looking no better, I wonder if it’s worth the money. It sounds like your presentation will likely be the best presentation when it is finished. I have a 55" 4k TV, and a good DVD can still look outstanding on it upscaled. More compressed videos like avi can definitely be more of an issue for my TV, with compression artifacts being much more apparent. Since you are of course re-encoding these, I wonder how much compression will factor in?

If they had used the French masters I would have pounced on this official release.
