I also find it confusing that reviewers often compliment the SE editions. ABC, I think you're completely correct about your last comment on Google book. As an example related to that comment, my girlfriend has several tv series review books. I have noticed on many occasions that the reviews, especially on older, cult tv series, were often remarkably similar to other reviews of the same show, by totally different authors in different books. Clearly, lazy reviewing was at fault. Some shows had incorrect information about the series, and that same exact incorrect info was quoted repeatedly in other books. I often wonder how many of those reviewers had even seen some of those shows, or if they were literally reading other reviews and just re-arranging the words.

That motion blur technique is quite impressive. I can see how it might affect detail, but wow, it really does smooth the animation out big time. I'd love to see that applied to Clash of the Titans.

I just watched the new clip, and the color correction alone is remarkable. What a difference! Myself, I found no problem with the glow around Obi-Wan. Nice to see continuity fixed also. It is a bit odd at first to see the flipped shots, but in the end I think it's for the better. Thanks for the clip!!

Geez, Ady, that's a shame that Gateway is giving you that kind of attitude. If that were me, I would continue to push the issue. I've had to call customer service and ask to speak to a supervisor more than once to get anywhere with things like that.

An excerpt from a New York Times article on warranties (from 2003):

"Federal law makes it possible for a company to require purchasers to register products in order to get the benefits of the limited warranty, he said, but in practice, such demands are rare. Some state laws ban manufacturers from making a warranty conditional on registration. A California law that takes effect next month goes a step further: it will require a notice on warranty cards telling customers that their warranty rights will remain intact whether or not the cards are mailed in."

From what I can tell, the warranty card has to tell you that you need to return the card in order for the warranty to remain in effect. If it doesn't say that, then the warranty is in effect whether the card was sent in or not, as long as you have the receipt. Of course, things are different between the States and the UK, and it seems like companies have a bit of wiggle room to screw you over. And in your case, there was no card in the box, so I don't know if you have a leg to stand on, but I'd still try to push the issue anyways. Example: I had Primestar (a satellite dish company) many years ago, and when I cancelled it within a month because of reception problems, they tried to hit me with a $300 fee. It took a couple phone calls, and I asked to speak to a supervisor, but when I was done, I didn't have to pay a thing.

Anyways, sorry to hear the bad news. I hope some good luck turns your way for the holidays. At least your mother is making a recovery!

I haven't had a chance to listen to the entire score yet, but from what I've heard of it so far, I am just amazed at the clarity and depth. I can't imagine needing any more done to it.  This is the version that should have been released years ago. I can't wait to hear the final version.

I'm afraid I'm another one who has remained silent in regards to this project. In general, I tend to be rather quiet in forums. I am quite excited about this project, and I think you deserve a lot of credit for the amount of time and work you've been putting into this project. As a fan of this score since I was 10, I am very much looking forward to hearing the finished product. From what I've heard so far, it's waaay better than the officially released versions.

That A New Hope cover is just amazing, VincentSmalls. Love the changes to The Empire Strikes Back also. You mentioned that the Return of the Jedi cover was from a low-res image, are the other two from high-res images? It would be great to print those out eventually - will you be posting high-res versions when they are finished?

VincentSmalls, love the cover art! I also prefer the retro look, and I love the bold red. I do agree however that the back seems a bit barren, and now that Enigmas mentioned the AT-ATs in step with each other, it does seem to stand out a bit.

Monroville, great idea about the Star Wars Holiday Special cartoon extra. Provided, of course, that there is anough space on the disc (I'm sure it wouldn't take up very much). It certainly seems a fitting extra, as it is the first time most of us were introduced to Boba.

I'm kind of torn on the whole cameo appearance idea. On the one hand, I can see why Ady may consider it, since it could help the project along, and I'm sure most of us would get a kick out of making a cameo, but it does bother me knowing that random faces have been altered and replaced. Something about that doesn't seem right to me.

I think Cap is onto something here. I really like the idea of just leaving "Luke/young Skywalker" out of the dialog entirely. That's such a great idea, because it works so well. The Emperor doesn't even need to say his name - he tells Vader there is a new enemy, and Vader acknowledges that he is aware of him. It's like they are both on the same page already. And I bet the editing would be simple and flawless, too. I hope Ady considers this one, great idea Cap!

Ady, the work you're doing on the Wampa sounds incredible! I can't even fathom being able to put all of that together. Can't wait to see it in action.

Like others have mentioned, I like the idea of Luke's lightsaber powering down as it flies through the window with him. I don't think it is necessary to hear it, since like Imperial Fighter suggested, the wind would be quite loud in there anyhow, and it would be unlikely that you would hear it power down. But seeing it would keep in continuity with how they function, as well as help clear up confusion for some viewers regarding where it went. Just my thoughts.

Puggo GRANDE - 16mm restoration (Released)
Time

Puggo, just had to say how much I enjoyed seeing this. You obviously put in a lot of hard work, and it was worth it. A very unique way of viewing the original Star Wars. Lots of fun, feels like I got my own copies of the reels and played them on my own screen. The public service announcement was a real treat, and looked great! Definitely a permanent addition to my collection. Thanks for making this available for us!

A quick question, I remember seeing a short youtube video I believe you did a while back involving the transfer of the old Star Wars movie viewer, you know the one where you held the viewer up to the light and cranked it by hand? It was like a spoof of sorts showing the "restoration efforts", with the actual film at the end. Do you have that available in better quality than youtube? That would make a great companion piece to this.

It looks like there are already some small red l.e.d. lights inside his arm, so if ady wanted to add a little something to the shot, he could probably just make a couple of the lights blink once or twice and that would be enough. The whole glowy blue neon thing, while cool-looking, seems to be too much.

I agree that the coloring needs to be tweaked to match better, and maybe fix the whole vein/fake looking prosthetic thing.

Titanic - Special Edition 2 Disc - by ADYWAN (Released)
Time

This sounds to me like the adigitalman "White Star Extended Edition", which was a 3-disc set. Disc 1 was part 1 of the film, disc 2 was part 2, and disc 3 was part 2 with the alternate ending. I believe there was some confusion over this last time I heard it mentioned, also. I have seen the adigitalman set, and it is fantastic, with lots and lots of deleted footage seamlessly cut back in, and it had superb image quality, as it was spread across 2 discs. I also loved seeing the alternate ending. It is now the only version of the film I would want to watch. I am not familiar with any edit involving Adywan. That doesn't mean he didn't do one, but I have not heard of it.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time

I just discovered that Ady may be considering a V2 of ANH:Revisited. I think he did such a great job originally, there is very little left that needs to be done. Is there any chance of inserting Tarkin back in at the end, just before the Death Star explodes? I really miss that quick shot of him. I love how Ady made the Death Star firing just as it explodes, and I wouldn't want that to change, so I don't know if there is a place for that shot to be reinserted now, but I wish that it could. I also am not sure how I feel about the Imperial March theme being used in ANH:R. The Imperial March theme just doesn't feel right to me in that film. It's not that it doesn't work, but it just doesn't seem to belong because I know that that theme wasn't introduced until TESB, so it just feels out of place for me in ANH:R. I know the emperor's theme wasn't originally in ANH:R either, but it isn't as prominent as the Imperial March.

Also, I agree with those that don't like the Praxis ring. It just doesn't seem to belong in that film, and I never particularly liked that ring effect anyhow.

Thanks for posting those screens, doubleofive. I've been wanting to see how it looked in the full shot. I have to admit I like the floating health spa. I think it looks great in the above shot. I never knew what it was supposed to be, but I do like the way it just "hangs" there like that. Being that it was originally in Mcquarrie's concept art, I hope Ady will leave it alone. I don't like a lot of the new changes Lucas did just for kicks, but I like this since it came right out of the old concept art. And it does make Cloud City look even that much more interesting.

Bingowings, I think that's actually an interesting idea you had about having Imperial ships attacking cloud city during the evacuation. I don't know how everybody else would feel, but it certainly would make sense to me that if Lando betrayed the deal with Vader, that would surely be one of the consequences. Showing even just a quick shot or two of some ships firing on the cloud cars would be enough to show us what Vader was holding over Lando. I also agree that showing that would help paint Lando in a better light, as he would not look so much like a coward, and instead look more like a man with a responsibility over his city.
