LOL!
LOL!
Here's something that Johnny Ringo suggested, just editing the more static eyes and nose area of Yoda's face. This way, nobody has to tamper with mouth movement or anything else tricky. Adywan is already doing something like this with the Emperor Hologram in ESB. I think this still looks amazingly better. Of course, the mandatory grain, darkening and desaturation...
Josh said:Yes, Trooperman was going to something like that to yoda more or less, he will lower the frame rate in yoda scenes to make him seem more puppet like!
Not sure how making his movement even less fluid would make him more puppet-like.

I think it's supposed to be the same guy.
yeah but I mean the drab uniform and everything. I figured that the Republic would have something a little more colorful. It's like they picked him right out of the OT and planted him in Clone Wars
Just realized the problem. His eye is completely out of place
EDIT: Fixed...to an extent....
This pic was a lot harder. The feasibility of doing this on a real video is looking slim to none. ESB Yoda angry looks kinds weird.
Yeah, its just a mockup. I basically plastered the puppet face on cg Yoda and darkened, desaturated and added grain to the scene to make it look more realistic. Anyway, people like Adywan have really worked magic, especially with his cg morphing on the alien faces in the cantina. If someone like him could rotoscope video of Yoda from ESB and ROTJ onto prequel Yoda's face seamlessly and use that CG style "morphing" to align his facial and mouth movements correctly it would be really cool. A lot of work, but really cool. I'll make more mockups.
EDIT:sorry for the double post

Has anyone with FX capabilities attempted in an edit to rotoscope puppet facial features to cg yoda? I’ve making quick mockups in photoshop to explain what I mean:
I heard something about SOTDS having a more puppety Yoda, is this true?
Anyone else find it funny that that Republic Admiral in the 2nd episode looked EXACTLY like an imperial admiral. I half expected to see Anakin force choke him...

Which is exactly what we did. We just want to make sure that between all the Lucasifications the more purist opinions are represented as well. I for one wouldn't want to risk getting a torturedroidlightsaber again...
I loved that addition. If you really want Purist get Ady's color corrected SE and cut out some of the SE bits you don't like
gavin77 said:Why do we always have these reminder posts from those who are afraid of too many changes in ESB? Come on, this is Adywan we are dealing with here....he is going to do what he wants and doesn't want to do, no matter what is said here. Let people express their ideas and opinions, that's what this post is for......but in the end, Adywan is in control, and he does a great job of filtering through all of the ideas, and deciding what is best for ESBRevisited. So keep the ideas coming, a good one might come up now and then.....peace...
Exactly. I think you guys are forgetting the scale of some of the changes in ANHR
So your going to release an HD version of this? That would be NICE...but maybe you ought to use Ady's color corrected edition as the primary source so you don't have to mess with that as much. You could probably ask him for his 16GB encode.

The phantom menace has an extended cut of the pod race scene on the dvd.
As far as i can remember, only the Laserdisc has the theatrical cut... right?
I know but he has to cut the video to match it anyway, why not just cut the audio too?

OT Puppet Yoda. They could have made CG Yoda look better but they didn't...And what someone said about the human hand, they could have used mocap. I think what they should have in the prequels is a combo of puppetry and cg to create a versatile, lifelike yoda.
Thanks so much Movealong. worked great. I was actually able to just mount the image with Disk Image Mounter and go from there
Excellent work as always Ady. However, when you get into the FX stage, I really hope you do something with all the obvious matte painting shots like this:
anyone know what I can use to play this on Mac? I'm not sure if DVD player would work and I don't have a Blu-Ray player so I'd probably look at it on my mac and then convert it to a wmv or something for my xbox.
The emperor already has Sith eyes, they just don't look as good as the PTs sith eyes. It would be an emperor thing, not a sith thing.
The landing ships look cool. That picture looks very much on the scale of the prequels which wouldn't neccesarily be a bad thing...
can someone put this on rapidshare? I intensely dislike usenet...
If any voice work still needs to be done I could have a go at it. I have access to a pro-quality voiceover mic and I'm pretty into doing impressions and the like.
That Yoda comparison was amazing. I think the color correction is likely the most significant part of this project. I am one of the unlucky people who first saw the OT as the 2004 DVDs. I think that the proper coloring brings a whole new magical feel to this film as apposed to the drab and simultaneously oversaturated color abomination that is the 04 DVDs.
