Washington (CNN) -- A federal court ruled Friday that the evidence supporting an alleged causal link between autism and a mercury-containing preservative in vaccines is unpersuasive, and that the families of children diagnosed with autism are not entitled to compensation.

It wouldn't surprise me. Pharmaceutical companies would do anything to make a quick buck.

Cause nothing's quicker or easier than decades of development, years of clinical trials, and the millions and millions of dollars spent to achieve FDA approval.

I'm sure Big Pharma is just swimming in the money they make off somehow giving kids autism by a completely undetectable (and statistically insignificantly success rate) method through the moderatly inexpensive basic vaccination series.

Okay, okay. I don't know a lot about this particular example. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me.

About time. It still won't convince the brainwashed masses that think vaccines actually cause autism. My parents for example.

I'm currently typing on a rather old PowerBook G4 laptop.

When I purchased it, it was the only 17inch widescreen laptop on the market, I was moving to a small house, I didn't have room for a music system, a television or a large desk top computer and the laptop did everything I needed it to do.

It played my DVD's, my music, it got me on the internet, it stored my photos.

I have nothing against Apple products that are useful, aren't overpriced and the customer service is acceptable (OK I hate Apple) but I still love my G4.

Customer service is better than anyone else but it still sucks. All customer service sucks...

My laptop, though useful, started to give me electric shocks after a few months and blew my headphones while I was wearing them.

Eventually the speakers blew as well.

It took a year and a forest of paper to get the thing sorted out.

When they finally got the thing repaired they stole the Airport card out of it (that's right they took the Airport out without telling me).

I took the thing back only to get it returned again with a note attached to it calling me "an arse".

I've heard hundreds of stories like this.

Apple has one of the worst customer services I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with, especially when you consider how much I paid for the thing when it first came out.

wow thats pretty awful...

Yeah, but if you consider Uhura's role in other Star Trek media, I found it quite odd how pushed to the forefront she was in this one.  I mean, she was touted as more a major character than Bones!  Not that it's bad to see Uhura actually do something, but I do get the impression (from that and the taking off her top scene) that they wanted a hot woman on the movie poster.

EDIT:  Or maybe I'm looking into that from the wrong angle, and maybe they just wanted a forced love triangle, and, digging into the Smurfette Principle, she's the only girl, so it had to be her.

Or maybe they wanted a strong female role this time around and Uhura was the only major female character in TOS?

I think most action movies are primarily marketed towards males. That being said, one could make the case that movies like Star Trek and Transformers are targeted towards general audiences.

Really?  I haven't seen the new Star Trek yet, but how was Transformers targeted towards a general audience?

Well, you have a point there. I stand by the new Star Trek though. Most of my friends who loved it are females.

I don't think anyone is saying that sexualization is inherently bad.  The problem is that it is universally done with females.  Which leads into a subsidiary problem:  sexualized females are deemed appropriate in movies marketed towards males and females.  Sexualized males are usually only deemed appropriate in movies marketed towards females.  That seems a bit odd.

I think most action movies are primarily marketed towards males. That being said, one could make the case that movies like Star Trek and Transformers are targeted towards general audiences. Aside from the miniskirt (which was really a nod to TOS) I don't think they really sexualized Uhura more than Kirk though.

OK, so I've been playing around with the last few scenes from ROTS for a while now:

Usually a fan of your edits but can't stand this one. Yoda goes out like a punk (plus if he was knocked out why wouldn't Sidious kill him?) and Anakin's convo turns even more stilted and awkward than it already was, he chokes Padme before he even gets angry or sees Obi-Wan, really?

Sorry :(

I will wait until they inevitably put in a camera. It looks incredibly useful to me though. When I'm sitting in my bed surfing the web a laptop is clunky, hot, and heavy and an iphone is small and prohibitive. I'd like to be able to surf the web with it resting like a book in my lap.
