With Storm troopers being such poor shots you need a death star it takes accuracy out of the equation! You guys do realize this is fiction, right? I mean someone wrote this and it is not real. I just think why rehash a topic that had been done or have the death star throughout all the films. Lets face it The Star Wars (pre-ANH) was not going to necessarily be 6-9 films on the screen. So blowing the death Star up gave some sense of finality to me that Star Wars could stand alone as its own film. ROTJ just lacks some creative writing for the topic of another death star to me. Though I love the Vader, Luke, Emperor stuff.

ROTS Digital Version
Time
There is no changes. They released at the same time on a limited run of digital projectors. IMAX ATOC released well after the theatrical release (so minor changes would entice those that have seen it to come back out), is on a totally different format (being the screen is almost square) and there is only one IMAX theatre per location necessitating shorter run time to show the 3 other films that have a daily run in the theatre. I saw the digital version at Camelot in Greenville, SC and it was mind-boggling on a 60' screen with a Digital Christie projector...stark difference. I saw Batman at IMAX last week and the difference was not nearly as stark. Of course Star Wars is mostly CG and therefore digital at inception vs. film being converted over to digital. Even still I'd take Camelot over Imax any day...of course this is why I am going to see War of the Worlds there tonight and I will drive over 2 hours to do it. (I drove 3.5 to Charleston to see Batman at IMAX).

It feels repetitive to me. Flying into the death star, blowing it up and zooming out of there with a yahoo. C'mon. And that thing that Lando is flying with that looks the hamburgler, gimme a break. I like the scenes with Luke the Emperor and Vader, but to me, again it pulls me out a gets a bit corny at times...not staying as dark and tense as it could be. Not as poetic as Anakin fulfilling prophecy by killing the emperor, vader pulling off his helmet, the funeral pyre...all that is so awesome...ewoks, squids and hamburglers...not as awesome to me.

Do it, I shall I just have to work out the logistics to make all of this plausible. I am going to take some audio from the NPR novelizations, and I am grabbing some audio and video from other films, that the actors are in, so we'll see. It will take me a lot of thinking to not have this be problematic or leave gaping wholes, but I am working on it.

Oh here's the pic of Perlla the Hutt, notice the boobs too. I just have to wonder why he does this and yet is brilliant enough to come up with Darth Maul, Vader, the Emperor, the force, stormtrooper, speeders, At-At's, death star's etc. Oh well. This is goal now to remove these elements and make a darker, more serious movie where the true themes will seem more pervasive in to the films.

I am frustrated with the cartooniness...Yaddle got cut (no this is not a joke), and we are lucky that a female yoda didn't make it it to the PT...

Jedi rocks had a female greedo...for the love of God. There are so many cool aspects of star wars, but this is frustrating to have it convoluted with childishness.

And yes Shimraa I will be flamed. So be it. It is my destiny.

Darth thanks for the feedback and I have thought of doing a long movie or a series of shorter films...I am not sure and yes it will get a lot of flack, but I getting a hold of vegas 6.0, sound forge 8.0, acid, maya, 3dsmax, endorphin and some very expensive software. I really am doing this to make something different and teach me the software. If someone loves the originals and hates magnolia's or can't accept the idea of not having 100% John williams score or the OT is sacred...well they'll really, really hate what I am going to do. But I do love the OT, I do love magnolia's films, but I have also grown up and what to make more adult films with more drama. No slapstick, no ewoks, no gungans, no jar-jar's, no whoopies, yahoo's, poo-doo's, kitsters, kid greedo's, no greedo shooting first, no two-headed race announcer, no female jabba, no and I mean no jedi rocks song (for the love of god that was awful), no "weeesa free". More sprituality, pensiveness, dark side torment (a la LOTR), more drama. I am going to play with filters and adding noise to the picture (to get the graininess that films are often using now). There are the original films and edits like magnolias to hold up the existing universe or fix minor flaws. I just want to create something different entirely as an experiment and to learn, if someone likes it besides me great...if no one does at least they may say it took a lot of work.

I know the criticisms of the OT prior to overwhelming critical focus on the SE's and PT was the building of two death stars in a new hope and return of the jedi. I am working on some edits and I trying to some major edits, to try and do something totally different, becuase the originals are good, magnolia's are better, and others have great ideas like trooperman, digital man, etc. So I want to do something that hasn't been done. One thing I thought about doing was merging some of the formation of the deathstar scenes from ROTJ and ANH. The ewoks are gone (completely - the building down on endor I thought about keeping as a key to put down the shields for the attack like in the original or making a rebel base that they refer to in ANH - not sure yet). I'd have to make ANH, but leave some of the Death star stuff from there until after Empire and take some of the ROTJ stuff and put it before empire. But I am trying to bridge the gap here and make it make sense. I have some ideas. But I am curious to know two things:

1. Does this bother you, having the redundancy of plot with two death stars, are you indifferent, or did you actually like that they went back and revisited this idea?

2. If you didn't like the redundancy how would you mix some scenes together (e.g. putting the awards ceremony at the end of ROTJ).

longer threads list per page
Time
Please can we have longer thread lists per page. Most forums have more. Quite frankly, no one goes to page two and sometimes good threads die for that reason. Peaople do scroll, but often not more than that. I know I do this on other sites. Page 2 is thread death. Some seem shorter than others too, like the fan edits link. There's like 15 threads. Could easily double that and we'd have much more thread activity. Thanks

Boba Fett may be in the new SW TV series
Time

USA Today includes a Lucas hint that Daniel Logan’s Boba Fett may be in the TV series:

Ford was approached by Daniel Logan, 18, who played young Boba Fett in Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Lucas said Logan’s character may be included in his live-action Star Wars TV series, which is in the works.

For more hit the link above. Was Logan good enough to pull of a series by himself? Would this be a supporting character role? Fans love Boba Fett, so either was this shouldn’t be a surprise for many. Look for more soon!

So… it looks like Boba’s back for some action. I’ve seen another quote from GL where he said the show won’t have anyone significant from the movies, and then he said, wait, no, that’s not true (apparently thinking of Boba). So while many hardcore fans may be pleased that one of the most kick ass characters is back…they may be somewhat displeased its the kid from ATOC. Of course he has grown up and we’ll see how its executed. Both Daniel Logan and Ray Park (darth maul - – wish they’d bring him back somehow too) will be at the Dragon Con in September (along with the Firefly/Serenity cast).

Mayne this will take the sting out of the rediculous death of Boba in ROTJ. Maybe.

The Prequels - my personal opinion
Time
I agree completely GreenCapt. I was reading that Xbox live is filled with such profanity, narrowmindedness, etc. that for many ruins the experience. I read on the next-gen Xbox360 they will have a rating system similar to ebay.com. I say this because I would love to see this on message boards so people couldn't get multiple names under the same IP, post a slew of negative simple-minded comments and like the above example ruin the experience for many. The other board members could rate you. People treat each other much better on ebay because of the incredible importance of their rating system.

I guess I get frustrated to when you start a thread with an intelligent question to get dialog and initiate conversation and some hijacks the thread with a "that sucks" or something along those lines...WHY POST THAT??? WHY?? I takes up space, is negative, ruins the train of real responses and often is a thread killer.

Damon, not to discourage you at all. I too, welcome you and love the fact that you took time to write a post (that isn't just increasing a post count) that was well thought out and something that you feel. That is not wrong, and it is not to be discounted. Even if your opinion isn't my opinion I will always welcome it when it is wrote out in that manner. Instead of "the PT sucks ass!!!!!!" etc.

There certainly is a variety of opinions, Anchorhead, not only doesn't like the PT, but EP. V and VI too. Which is cool, for him the only one is the original, some here only like ESB, some only like the OT, some say the new OT is 3,4,5...some like the PT over the OT (a bit odd considering the name of the forum)...again its cool. As long as you right respectful posts and don't trash people who disagree with you. Again it kills threads, wastes scrolling/reading time, and pisses good people off.

So welcome aboard Damon, keep posting and like the movie, saving star wars, one way or the other...Lucas gave us something to talk about and his saga, for better or worse is the reason we are here. Even the great work Magnolia has done...it all starts with Lucas. I am angry at Jar-Jar, Gungans, Ewoks, the greedo and Jabba thing, that awful song in ROTJ, and killing Darth Maul...but there are so, so many things that are cool and exciting. If only on a technical level they are fun to watch...The sounds, the imagination, the worlds, the art, the music. BTW, damon, I love that line from Padme too.

Gundrosens SW covers(1-6+classic+bonus)
Time
Awesome job on the clone wars cover too Knolly. Thanks, I missed it I guess Gundrosen, I'd definitely do the the 2 volumes on one disc too. I am just waiting to get the quality of the official release. Seriously, everything creatively always need some refinement, but overall Gundrosen you have done some phenomenal work. This is the kind of stuff that makes this board special.

wow, that is awesome, awesome work gundrosen! Great job. Have you thought about doing covers for the clone wars Vol. 1 (and 2 is due out in Oct./nov.) animated series. Some consider it Ep. 2.5...I'd love to have covers to complete this set. If I was to make one change for your phantom menace covers, I would leave Jar-Jar off the pictures. The official DVD (interestingly) has No Jar-Jar on front, on back, in the insert or the 2 disc arts. Smart. Now if only he could be deleted off the actual movie too. But again, phenomenal work. Truly exciting to have a unifying set. No we'd just need to get that guy who does the tins to do do a box set for this. That would be awesome.

Idea & Info: the IMAX film 'Special Effects'
Time
wow, it makes you wonder what the hell they were doing with this incredible so called - supercomputer project for the 2004 DVD. That difference is huge. Although until we go to HD format there is limitations with the resolution. The color, brightness and detail is stark. I wish you could get rips off the digital version for ATOC, Batman Begins from IMAX and the new digital projector version (already 2.35:1) of ROTS that I saw a few weeks ago. Seriously the difference to the regular theater and the digital one I saw in Greenville, SC was at least the difference of above, no joke. Oh and the THX sound blew me away. I saw it twice and thought it was cool, but the third time in the Camelot theater my jaw was wide open for 2.5 hrs.

Anyone willing to share the Making/Behind the Scenes of the Star Wars Radio Dramas?
Time
Again, I am through the 3rd disc now and I got to say, they are incredible. So, so much more than is in the movie. What's funny is my anger for plot holes (like the aforementioned droids thing) is going away. There is so much more depth. It would be cool to put these discs to pictures from the graphic novels, art works, and pictures from the films...God that project would rock.
