J.J. abrams to helm Star trek Prequel
Time
Unfortunately, I'm not sure that they have much of a choice but to go with the academy days of Kirk and Spock plotline if they are going to do another Trek movie. TNG is pretty much worn out after Nemesis bombed, and I'm not sure there is enough interest forin the general public fora DS9 or Voyager, and even the Trekkies would stay at home for Enterprise. A Federation-Romulan war movie sounds good, but I don't think anyone would watch it because it would be a totally new cast, crew, with all-new characters, and would basically end up being a generic sci-fi movie that just happens to take place in the Star Trek universe. That I think would be a turn-off for most people, and a bad omen for the series. Trek is in pretty bad shape after the Enterprise series. I'm not sure how one would bring it back. I think it would need another TV series, not more films. But hopefully this movie will be good, but it will be really hard to fill the shoes of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. Will they have McCoy in it? I would think that if they had Kirk and Spock, McCoy is also needed.

Entertainment Weekly's Must See Movies
Time
I want to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I loved the first one and think this one will also be good.
Superman Returns I really want to be good, but I'm afraid that it is going to be a bomb. Its been too long since the last Superman movie, and I'm just afraid that with what we'll get in Superman Returns, it will be another long wait until we get another good Superman movie.

IF ONLY THAT WERE TRUE WE COULD JUST HIT THE DELETE KEY AND BE DONE WITH THEM.

Hypothetical: "Let's do it right this time!"
Time
One of my gripes on the PT is that there was too many throw-away villians. Maul, Dooku, Jango Fett, Nute Gunray, Grevious. Make Maul turn out to be Grevious, and give Dooku a bigger role, or cut him altogether. I thought that they wasted a potentially great villian in Dooku. Having Grevious a seperate character just didn't add anything. I think if he was Maul, it would have added something to the fight he had with Obi-Wan. But the villians seemed to be too much into the "they'd make a cool action figure", or "lets keep throwing these guys out until we find something people like" and not enough story behind them. It also cluttered up the story and just got in the way.
Also, get rid of the lousy mystery in Episode 2, or at least finish it up. I'm still wondering what was up with Syfo-Dias, and exactly who ordered the clone army.
Which brings up another thing. A clone army just shows up, and the Jedi and the Republic just happly accept them without questioning where they came from, especially when they were cloned from a notorious bounty hunter associated with the trade federation (villians).
So the main problem with the PT is that there were too many illogical, and stupid, angles like these. It might of had potential, but needs some serious rewrites.

True, but even in submarine warfare, you can get a pretty good idea what the enemy sub looks like via recon planes, maybe even sonar hits. I still don't see how you can do a space war and never see the enemy ships even once.

As for the First Contact arugument, I missed all the socalist world view stuff that JediSage talked about. But I will say that it is an ok movie, but mostly forgettable. the Time-Travel element has been overdone in Star Trek. Generations was horrible. Kirk shouldn't of died, and if he did have to, have him die in a better way than he did in Generations, to a better villian.
But to say that First Contact is better than Wrath of Khan, I just don't see it. Wrath of Khan was great.

Romulan Wars would have been interesting, except that Enterprise created conflict with TOS.

TOS mentioned that the entire war was fought without the benefit of viewscreens...that the Federation had never see a Romulan (by extension, you'd think they'd never seen a Romulan ship as well). Well, Enterprise had a viewscreen and saw at least 2 different Romulan ships.

The movie I'd like to see would be based on Deep Space Nine. Bring back Sisko with a warning from the Prophets about something.

They could of had viewscreens, seen a Romulan ship, and not seen a Romulan themselves. How do you fight a war and never see anyone? I would think that fighting a war, you would have to be able to see the enemy ships and vice-versa, otherwise how do you fight?
Although I agree a Romulan war movie would be good if done correctly, I would fear it would become "Enterprise: the Movie" or something. You have no familiar people in the Romulan war, unless you say that the crew from Enterprise was in it. But since Enterprise has already badly contridicted the other series enough. I don't think they could do a Romulan war movie correctly, even without the Enterprise crew.

Star Wars Trilogy tops IGN's "Most Wanted DVDs"
Time
The films are already out on DVD, at least unofficially in Fan preservations. Thats why most of us are here. Hopefully someday we will see official releases, but I don't expect any until Lucas retires, has a massive change in heart, or hits bottom and has to release the originals because he needs the cash.

As for why does Empire have the least changes, I think it is because it 'needed' the least changes. It didn't have any musical numbers, earlier film techology, etc, and no contridictary references to the preqels (Anakin force ghost). Although Empire is seeing its fair number of changes, such as the poorly done Ian McDiarmid as the emperor instead of Clive Revel.

New Star Trek Movie
Time
The last one was a bad remake of Wrath of Khan with the next generation crew. I almost expected them to do another TNG movie, one that would be a bad knockoff of Search for Spock to bring Data back.

The new movie can't be good in the end. the only good thing one can say about it is that it is something different. Which is better than you can say about Nemesis.

So, do you all think it's fair to say that Tom Cruise has single handedly destroyed Katie Holmes's career?

Actually, he might not of hurt it as much as one might think. Besides Batman Begins, she hasn't been overly active in making movies or TV shows. Without Cruise to get her media attention, she might of simply faded away.

Not to defend Tom Cruise any. He has gone off the deep end and is taking Katie with him. Its kinda sad to see, I think.

The Shadow (NTSC Widescreen Preservation) (* unfinished project *)
Time
Are you planning to include the DTS track? I would love to see a widescreen version of the Shadow with a DTS track.
As far as extras go, I don't know of much except stuff like the soundtrack CD, old Shadow radio shows as MP3's, and pulp novels. I have a trailer as a quicktime on my computer, but I don't think that it would come out to be any sort of quality. I've seen a TV show recently that talked about several movies and how they did things that had a segement on the Shadow. It talked about the making of the tulku's temple at the beginning of the movie. I have no idea the name of the program or anything.
