Info Wanted: Making a 3-D Fan Edit Question

Hi,

Does anyone know of a filter or program that can turn a normal 2-D video file into a 3-D one?

You know the type you need to make the red/blue glasses to see.

I was thinking how kewl it would be to have my own 3-D version of the CLASIC Star Wars. We all know that when Lucas puts out his 3-D versions, they will be the re-makes.

The image needs to turn out something like this...

There is a plugin you can get for Adobe After Effects that creates the coloured shadows enabling 3D, but this is used on multi layered compositions, therefore, you would have to mask out each item you want the 3d effect on. Its not just a case of slapping it on top Im afraid. It would be better for you to make something of your own, as taking a film thats 2d and changing it to 3 would take forever.

Looks like this is something of an urban myth. The only thing I can find thats solid is 24 cuts from Temple Of Doom in the UK, although the only scene mentioned is the removal of the heart in the cage scene. Ive got a Laserdisc on the way, so Ill try to find out with that.

With regard to Raiders, I think people are getting confused with the Nazi logo being burnt from the box.

Im trying to find some solid info on this, but I remember hearing somewhere that when the last VHS set came out it had been censored in a simillar way to the Star wars films to cut out some of the violence. I know for a start that the title of Raiders has changed to include Indiana Jones.

It list on IMDB that over a minute of footage was cut originally from TOD in the UK,

Found this on IMDB Raiders page - In the cinema release of Raiders, immediately AFTER the credits, there was a cutaway to the boxed Ark of the Covenant in the US Govt warehouse, and the U.S. Govt brand on the box is gradually being burnt away by the Ark. This scene is missing from the DVD release of the film.

Ill do some more digging, but if anyone else can back me up on this it would be useful. It may just be a UK thing, but if so how many people on this board are in the UK?

EDIT - It does look as if this is only a TOD UK thing according to this on theraider.net
" R2 project reported this past Monday that the U.K. will get a cut version of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in the upcoming DVD set. Here's the original report:

The BBFC have confirmed to us that Paramount have submitted the previous cut version of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for release in the upcoming DVD set. Interestingly when asked if the uncut version would get a 12 or a 15 certificate the BBFC would simply say "We can't speculate as to what certificate the full version would get without seeing it again." So come on Paramount, why not give it a try, you never know that uncut version may well stay 12?

After contacting Lucasfilm about this I can say that this is not a rumor. The boxed Indiana Jones DVD set in the U.K. will feature a slightly edited version of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
In 1984, the British Board of Film Classification requested that one very intense moment of the film – the shot in which we see Mola Ram pulling the heart out of a man – be removed in order to secure a PG rating. Since that is the only version of the film that British audiences have ever seen in theaters and on TV, Paramount and Lucasfilm decided that it should be the one included in the DVD.

The rest of Europe should not worry, this slightly edited version of Temple of Doom will only get released in the U.K.!"

I have burned all of the discs, and printed out the covers and DVD labels - they look great! I have only watched the bonus DVD in its entirety at the moment, which I thought was excellent, the films I have scanned through and they seem to be of equal quality. Great opening video prior to the menu's - NICE JOB!

Are people still trying to get this from Demonoid? My download finished a few days ago, and since then no-one seems to be downloading it from me. I stopped all of my other torrents, and he max upload that was being taken was 1kb/s. Im on a 2meg line and my uploads are set at full. Just wondering how much longer to seed this as its taking up over 14gigs of space.

Star Wars: The Interactive Video Board Game (1996, Parker) (* unfinished project *)

OK, I was going to anounce this as a surprise, but since this thread isn't as dead as I'd hoped...

I bought the game recently on Ebay. Cost me £11 inc postage. The thing is brand-spanking new, never been used. the board is unpunched, the figures are still on the sprue and the tape is still sealed in celophane. Hopefully I will be capping this to DVD tomorrow night.

There's no way I have the time to put together a menu and sort out all the chapters in a sensible way. I'm also not willing to release this into the wild without at least a rudimentary menu, so if anyone wants to slap a menu together and sort out chapters I'll post you a copy of the DVD you can turn it into a decent release. I'd prefer someone in the UK, but really it's just got to be someone who (a) knows what they're doing and has done it before and (b) can work with PAL to produce a PAL version of this. If someone wants to make an NTSC version later that's fine by me (although I reserve the right to point and laugh at you) but not until the PAL version is available.

Any takers?

Im urrently working on the cutscenes DVD, but wouldn't mind doing this after. Im using DVD Lab Pro for my menu's, and they are turning out very well. Im in the UK, gimme a PM if you are still after someone.

Ok, for starters. Leia isnt wearing a mini skirt in the poster, and second, the photoshop job you have done looks exactly like that - and a bad one - the angle of the legs doesnt match making her look like she either has a belly, or a dislocated hip.

Those covers are sweet! gotta get them for my set as the ones in the DVD Rom folder on the disc are too much like all of the others.

Help Wanted: SW videogames cutscenes (esp. Rogue Squadron series)

Has everybody lost interest in this?
I am in the final stages of completing the first DVD in the set that covers the Rogue Squadron games, and its turning out very well. The only thing I am having difficulty with is the cutscenes from RS 2&3. I cant find a cheat to play all of them.
I did download a Gamecube rom of the game, managed to extract the movies, but couldn't find anything that could play them.
If anybody has any ideas, please let me know, as these will probably end up being left out, as its far too time consuming to play both games from start to finish.
Cheers,
Neil

P.S I got a Pm on Demonoid from someone asking me to re-upload the original clip I put on there, but couldn't reply to them. So if its any of you, PM me on here.

Is this going to be on MYSPLEEN? I know its on Demonoid but it took me a week to download 2GB from there. It would take 2 months to downlaod 12GB. I could get it downloaded from Myspleen in couple days. I would love to have these.

It all depends on how many seeds the files have. Its no different from it being on any other tracker - the file isn't hosted by the tracker. Im downloading one disc at a time from that torrent.

99% of announced projects on TFN Forum never get made - People get good ideas but never see them through, which is a shame but understandable as it takes a hell of alot of time and effort to make a decent film - Im 3 years into mine, and its only just coming to fruitition.

If anybody knows of a way to access all of the cutscenes from either RS2 or 3 on the Gamecube, please let me know.

Not to mention the growing number of Independence Day rereleases. Is someone getting paid to make all of these pointless decisions?

I agree regarding the Bonus features- isnt the word Bonus supposed to be exactly that - a Bonus, and not something you pay extra for?

I did look at Shadows of the Empire, though the cutscenes don't seem worth geting just yet unless we are going to make a complete set covering all of the games. I pretty much have all of the Star Wars games that have come out, so this could be quite a good project to take on myself, although it would be a huge bonus if we all pulled in on it.

I have finished Rogue Squadron 1, and all of the clips are ready to go. I had to get most of them from the original N64 cartridge, as my pc version seemed to crash after playing a few scenes.

Ill continue to collect up the scenes until I know if others are likely to join the project. Anybody good at DVD cover design or DVD Menu's?

If so, and you would like to help, PM me and ill get back to you.

If you PM me your email address ill send them to you or meet you on msn or something. The clips I have are in full DVD resolution. Ill keep on collecting the clips until they are finished.

What do you guys think of the shared project idea? If the people interested each captured all of the scenes from a specific game, we could get people who can make decent covers to make templates for us. Then someone else could create a set of menu templates for us all to use. Within a few weeks we could end up with a set of DVD's covering all of the games.
