That was kind of over-rated...
That was kind of over-rated...
I loved TPM when I first saw it. I saw it in the theatres 6 times.
I was also ten years old at the time. Now, I can't even sit through the damn thing all the way through. This change of opinion had nothing to do with outside influence and everything to do with me growing up and realizing that the movie I once loved really wasn't all that great. Kind of like how I didn't need anyone else to tell me that Power Rangers is (contrary to what I once believed when I was five) utter shite.
Guys guys guys, haven't ANY of you read the original shooting scripts for the prequels? All the ships are equipped with Infinite Improbability Drives, a la "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", which is why the same handful of characters keep meeting up again and again. Duh.
Just completely disconnect yourself from anything new and Star Wars-related. It worked for me. The last new Star Wars thing I absorbed was Revenge of the Sith in theatres, which was nearly four years ago. Other than TMBTM's Star Wars Silent Film Edition edit, I haven't watched any of the prequels since then, just the OT. It's worked brilliantly for me, especially since I've only seen RotS once (seen the other two a handful of times each). I barely remember anything about them.
These radio dramas just reinforce Mark Hamill's skill as a voice actor. I personally think he did a better job in the radio dramas than in the actual movies. :P
I just looked it up on Youtube, and man, I forgot how god-awful 97 Jabba looked. Talk about CGI at its worst...

She often felt her greatest gift to the world was her photographs, what better way to celebrate the woman to show her how she wanted to be remembered. I do not think, nor will I ever think, that displaying pictures of her that she was proud of to be "in poor fucking taste". You must be in the same camp that thinks Michelangelo's David is in "poor fucking taste".
So now you're comparing a 50's pin up model with a Michelangelo scuplture?
Interesting...

PS: in fact I also use Jedi Rocks in Ep6 at Jabba's palace, but not in the dance scene. And you'll probably not notice that it's Jedi Rock because it is the end of the track (that is not on the SE I believe) which is a bit better. You can listen a bit to this part in my ep2 when the Jedi get out of the bar.
I was wondering what that was. Now I know! :P
I'm taking an film history and criticism class at university this semester (just an intro class), but I'm thinking about either sending my professor a link to the torrent of this edit or just burning him a copy of the DVD if he's interested, since we've been discussing silent films for quite some time now in class. Would you mind at all? I'm trying to get more exposure for fan-edits in general, and I thought this would be a good example of how fan-edits can be a viable art-form in and of themselves.
Currently helping seed this on Demonoid. You managed to condense AotC down to about half-an-hour, and for that alone you deserve quite a bit of credit. ;)
The only thing so far that I've found jarring was using "Jedi Rocks" in the AotC bar scene. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing that it was used, it's just that it's been so long since I've seen the SE of Return of the Jedi that I forgot it even existed, and so when it came on my initial reaction was "The hell is this?! BLEEGGGHHH!!" I've since recovered, however. :P

Yeah, I knew I'd seen it somewhere, I got the NSFW on the Bettie Page thread when I did it. But I was wrong, no doubt.
Bettie Page did all of her pin-up work in the 1950s. She eventually stopped modeling, became a born-again Christian (was even a Baptist missionary in Angola for a while), and very much regretting having done her modelling career.
So yes ferris, it was in poor fucking taste.
Well, I've gotten to watch the first 30 minutes of the DVD on Demonoid, and I have to say this is fantastic! This has to be one of the best, not to mention most creative, Star Wars fan projects I've ever seen.

PM sent. :)
Is it just me, or does the 2004 ANH Jabba in the above screencap not have any fingers?
If I didn't know better, I'd think that that last screenshot really was from an old silent film. Well done indeed. :D
I do believe if you go to Symantec's website, you can do a search for a particular virus and various ways to remove it.
What do you mean, "us"? Aren't you my age? Hate to tell you buddy, but I don't believe we're considered "youths" anymore. :P

I see a future Youtube classic. Send me this script. :P
The problem with the Jabba scene was that since they decided not to include the scene in the original film, they used a lot of the important plot points in the Greedo scene instead. So by reinstating the Jabba scene, a big chunk of dialogue from the Greedo scene is repeated almost verbatim. It's just a redundant scene that doesn't need to be there.
I think I remember Magnoliafan saying some time ago that because there was such a problem with edits being sold on eBay, he did not make them into DVDs. So if you do manage to find formatted DVDs of MagFan's edits, they'll have had to be made by someone else, not Magnoliafan. I know I got them as .avi's a few years ago off Myspleen, but I'm not sure where they'd be now.

What a pile of nonsense.
See Also: Anakin's Space Jesus Virgin Birth.
LOL, right after ROTS was released I sat down and wrote a mini screenplay that spoofed on Terminator. In my screenplay, sometime in the years between ROTS and ANH, an IG-88 assassin droid was sent back in time to kill Shmi Skywalker, and a young Han Solo was sent back to protect her. Following the major plot twist from Terminator, during Han's time with Shmi Anakin is conceived. Once the droid is destroyed and Shmi is safe, like a jerk Han leaves her and goes back to his own time. Shmi finds she is pregnant, angry and ashamed she tells everyone that there is no father and she has no idea how she got pregnant, she really can't explain it.
Of course, nobody believes her, but she persists in her story even into her old age.
Makes the whole OT love triangle even more warped and incestuous than George managed to make it. :p
I would pay exorbitant amounts of money to see that film if it was ever made.

What baffles me is that the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series have wonderful posters by Drew Struzan, but do they use them for the DVD covers? No!
I have the pre-THX Star Wars VHS boxset (the one before the Faces set, in other words) and they used this artwork on the boxes. Why can't they do this again?
