Lightning Bug
Time
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363768/

This movie comes out on DVD August 9th, and I urge as many people to get it as possible to get it. It's an indie film that was filmed in my home town of Cullman, Alabama. I remember back when it was being filmed a few years ago, and there were signs all over town that said "LB =>" or something of that nature. I haven't actually gotten to see it yet, but I'm especially interested to see it because a part of it was filmed in the girls' dorm of the boarding school I go to. Should be interesting.

Anyway, get this movie.

By the way, it'll go on sale on August 1st at o local video store near my house (because it was one of the main shooting locations) so I'll post an advance review after I see it.

Which DVD Cover is your favorite?
Time
I've got a poster I got from Disneyworld around 1995, it's for ESB and it's just got space in the background and Vader's helmet in the foreground. On the very top it says "The Star Wars Saga Continues" and at the very bottom it says "Coming to your galaxy this summer. That and my "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" poster are the only posters I own that have never moved since they were put up. They're just too awesome to take down.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

Sorry about that. This should cheer you up:

http://www.telltalegames.com/bone_the_game

This was on www.mixnmojo.com :

"About The Game: After LucasArts cancelled Sam & Max Freelance Police, a handful of the game's former team moved on to open their own games company, Telltale Games. Their goal: to create episodic, character-driven adventure games.

Bone is the first adventure game they've announced, based on the popular semi-independent comic which ran regularly for about a decade but recently completed its run.

We don't know a ton about Telltale's Bone game, aside from the fact that it will be a fully 3D adventure game, and, much like Telltale Texas Hold'Em, Bone will be sold online through Telltale's website, and other games portals.

As the game is further in development, we'll definitely have more to tell you.

LucasArts Says: LucasArts has nothing to do with Bone, but here's what Telltale has to say:

Lost in the desert and dying of thirst, the Bone cousins are separated by an angry swarm of locusts. Now Fone Bone, armed only with a mysterious map and his well-loved copy of Moby Dick, searches a strange valley to try and find his lost relatives. Along the way he will come face to face with its unusual denizens and begin to be drawn into the greater intrigues that surround the valley.

Telltale Games brings you all the humor, charm and mystery of Jeff Smith's acclaimed comic book series Bone. Fans of the comic and adventure gamers alike will find a new home in the valley, as they explore familiar locations and interact with its residents in this character driven adventure. "

The hardcore adventure gamer in me leaps for joy!!

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)

Hey MF, I'm sure this has been asked before, but what editing software do you use? Me and a buddy of mine are hoping to start shooting a movie soon (it's gonna be based on the book "The Wave" by Todd Strasser, if anybody wants to know; I haven't read it, but my friend's obsessed with it), and it'd be nice to have the right tools to do it with. I'm also saving up for a DVD camera so that editing on the PC would be a hell of a lot easier.

By the way, have you done any other non-"Star Wars" projects?

Raiders of the Lost Bloopers

Yeah, exactly. I remember the first time I noticed something was going down when the Jawa Trader section started getting smaller, and with less cool stuff, and eventually it disappeared. I eventually canceled my almost ten-year subscription to the SW fan club because they changed to Hyperspace and I dind't get jack crap.

The thing I miss the most though is Anthony Daniels's "Wonder Column". I have them all except for half of the first one (that issue is missing some pages) and one from an issue they never sent me.

....Anybody got some scans?

Raiders of the Lost Bloopers

I've been meaning to post that blooper somewhere for a very long time, but I just never got around to it. Star Wars Insider magazine even had a 20th anniversary section for ROTLA back in 2001 and it wasn't on the official bloopers list. I just found it amusing that a 12 year old (now 16) noticed something that the official movie magazine didn't.

P.S. Star Wars Insider has sucked ever since they switched publishers a few years ago. The last good issue was their 50th issue with a pre-Episode II Hayden Christensen on the cover. Man, I remember some weird stuff.

Raiders of the Lost Bloopers
Time
I've heard people praise the Indy DVDs in comparison to the SW DVDs because there were no changes made to the films, but actually not true. Did anyone else notice that the classic blooper of being able to see the cobra's reflection in the glass in the Tanis tomb was digitally erased. I screamed at my tv the first time I saw the dvd with this taken away.

Speaking of Raiders bloopers, I've searched dozens of bloopers sites, but none of them mentioned a blooper that I first noticed when I was ten (at least I think it's a blooper). It concerns the Staff of Ra. When the old man translates the medallion, he says:

Old man: ...this means six kaddam (sp?) height.
Sallah: About seventy-two inches.

So since 6 kaddam=72 in., then I believe we can safely assume that 6 kaddam=6 ft. With me so far?
Next the old man says:

Old man: 'And take back one kaddam to honor the Hebrew god whose Ark this is.'

So that would mean that 5 kaddam would be about 5 feet, correct?

Well, when Indy finally has the staff, it towers AT LEAST a foot above his head. So either the entire cast of the movie is comprised of midgets, or something isn't right here.

Yeah, I know it's real technical, but amusing nonetheless, especially to a movie freak such as myself.

Doug Benson:

"I just got TiVo a few weeks ago, and it's amazing because it'll record stuff without you even telling it to, it just figures out what you like and then records it for you. Well, the other day I came home, and it had recorded "Touched by and Angel". Then I slowly realized that it had figured out that I like crap...

Which reminds me, I was on the toilet for SO long the other day....that eventually I said "I'm getting too old for THIS shit."

I used to have a pet dingo, but then the most ironic thing happened: a baby ate my dingo.

You know, in Seattle they have a saying: If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes, and then shoot yourself in the face."
