I agree go and watch the 1976 original with Gregory Peck, Lee Remick and David Warner etc, its probably so much better than this one, if you like also try out the second one Damien Omen 2 which is quite good, and if you like that one Omen 3 The Final Conflict which is O.K.

Are you gonna buy 'em?
Time

After a bit of thinking and a disscussion with the Mrs(who also is a fan) we decided arent buying them the current full price as they are laser rips, I have about four or five different fan preserved OOT sets from the people here (backed onto back up DVDs) plus OT edits as well and we are thinking of using them until the X0 project emerges as our diffinitive OOT, and the only way we will get the OUT is if the picture is half decent and at a reasonable knock down price.

What are you going to do with your SE discs?
Time
I not gonna mail them, I have the 2004 set, and I am going be buying at least two sets of the original films, so I will 2 2004 sets spare, Im gonna give them away...

I just have a feeling that doing this could backfire. and any hopes of you guys getting/wanting a OOT release on another format in the distant future ever agian could disapear how ever much the demand would be, if fans are gonna react to this unlikely release by mailing their DVDs back to them and acting seemingly not grateful.and giving what Lucasfilm may see as a middle finger to Lucas, they may not be so interested in listening to the fans demands next time.

What to do with the SE discs from the OT DVD sets...
Time

Depends on how many sets of the original films I am gonna buy, I definatly want a back up set of the originals, one to watch, one to preserve. I may just replace the used ones in my 2004 set with the new ones or just leave them as they are with the original films but maybe keep them separate, I know someone that likes Hayden at the end of Jedi so I will have a set around.

The Official 2006 Discs Will Be No Better Than What We Have!
Time

Im happy as long as on the Star Wars DVD, I get Han shooting first, chest explosions and Wolfman, and on the Jedi DVD I get Sebastian Shaw, and its watchable on my TV, I dont believe with such a high profile release now of possibly what is the "holy grail" of DVD they are gonna just give people a laserdisc rip, as they would probably come under such critism from the media if they did.

The Future Of This Board
Time
I agree with CO, I will/am gonna retire from Star Wars more or less after/with the release of the OOT, I have no real interest anymore whats said by anyone involved in Star Wars, any future releases or the TV series they are for the others, the circle is more or less complete for me, I have the prequels which I will still watch, the fan produced Star Wars stuff still to watch as well, though I will still looking at the preservation forums here for the fan productions but Star Wars news doesnt interest me much now.

Finally At Peace With Star Wars...
Time

I kinda of feel the same, while I enjoyed the fan transfers of OOT which I am most grateful, now its gonna been officialy released, it will be nice to be able watch the original films on an official DVD. I am gonna be content after that with Star Wars, as I now have my definitive versions of the Prequels, the SE (ADMs) and now an offical OOT, which is coming, I dont particulary care anymore about anything that happens in the future for Star Wars be it a new edition, Thetrical release, TV series etc which I will leave that to the younger guys now we have that release in September,

the only thing Star Wars releated i will keep an eye for is any future fan productions from the guys here.

The Original Star Wars Movies On VHS ??
Time

Try this link,The SE videos are usually in the silver or gold packaging and/or with new looking artwork,The Theatrical films are sometimes advertised as such and use the older looking theatrical artwork and they should anyway be a description on the ad what version it is, or if you want to get the Thetrical films on DVD go and have a look in the preservation forums.

I like 'em both :)

I will always show the original 77 80 and 83 films first, then I will show the Special Edition but a fan created Special Edition eg ADigitalmans Special Edition or what i think is the best one, with stuff like Han shooting first re-editted back into Star Wars and Sebastian Shaw put in back in Jedi, though will probably compromise on Jedi and let the person have the choice if they want to see the Hayden ghost on the official DVD.

Certain parts of the PT are just cringeworthy, how did this happen?
Time

I dont hate the PT films but there times when they seem to be brought down by bad scenes, and there are definiaty times when ive watched them and thought WTF! especially in the TPM at those funny looking podracers and announcers and especially Jar Jars antics in the Naboo battle, as for Clones I was in the cinema thinking oh my god!! at "I hate sand" the fireplace scenes, and the balcony scene in Sith and still think the love dialouge is pretty bad in Clones but dont cringe so much now as i am used to it if I watch it.

Adigitalman and Magnoliafan etc have shown in their edits what the films are like without what they consider "cringeworthy" scenes taken out and they do seem to work better and maybe are better films for this stuff taken out.

I think part of the problem is George cant seem write very good humor and seems to go for slapstick all the time, which maybe funny at first but can get tiresome and silly, and doesnt seem to write good romance dialouge and its like do people really say this!!.

Least when I am here I will never see a thread like it did there "is Star Wars(ANH) meh?" and was shocked to find out it was actually started by a mod, and I bet there would be mega complaints if someone posted a thread "is Revenge Of The Sith meh?" there and the Classic Trilogy forum seems just so anti anything pre 97 its unbelievable, and its great there are people here who love the first film and dont class it as meh and love the original films.

I go there and read at least twice a week, but there seems to be so much disrespect for the original films and especially the first film, there is no point me posting regularly, and you seemingly have to love every minute old George has done since 1997 to fit in with everybody, theres seemingly no inbetween, and any dissent doesnt seem welcome, and even though I dont hate the P.T totally, I do find the people in the Basher Sanctuary the only thing in the whole place worth actually reading.
