Episode I Digital Yoda Images!!!!

CGI is a mixed bag Lord of the rings used good CGI and looked good but I feel George went to extremes for the SE and the Prequels for eg I like the Yoda(fan of) The Kamonians etc in the P.T but some of it looked cartoony eg Two Headed the racer announcer the guy with the big head an no body Jar Jar Geonesions etc and some of the scenes looked like a video game level eg The droid factory in clones. and as you can do anything with CGI i feel Lucas sometimes crossed the line of believeablity even for Star Wars in the prequels

You cant the beat the gritty feel of natural locations still rather complete greenscreen work it look to polished, clean and sometime unatural at times and the actors prefer working in locations rather than screen work.

the same with SE the X Wings taking off from Yavin look cool and I prefer that to the 77 version and the re-done battle sequence I like(though maybe very slightly less than the models not sure) but Jabba looks like a cartoon and nothing like the ROTJ puppet as does the new musical number in ROTJ, you can tell in 70s and 80s film what is a CGI additon and what is not.

I envy the Lord of the Rings Fans, they are like us in 1983, complete and happy.

I agree too, I envy them too, its taken some of the pleasure away from liking these films, and having a sensible conversation and friendly debates on the films (except on this forum, thankfully)

you've hit the nail right on the head,

Its has become such a tired excuse for the changes, from his fanboys, its laughable...

when will the George Lucas Definitive Version of the Original Trilogy arrive, any answers or guesses.

Whats next, using CGI to make the Executor 5 Miles long? Give me a break.

The rank and file TFN crybys make me wish I gave Star Wars in 83 or before the SE, latest one they want the Obi Wan and Vader duel updated to prequel standards with new stunt doubles and the TFN mods agree, there is so many budding Lucas and McCallums out there I am frightened. in 5-10 years will ANH be unreconisible from the movie i saw in 77, I am starting to have nightmares Lucas and McCallum go there and read what these people want.

I am seriously not touching the big boxset because the films i loved may be destroyed by the wants of these people who werent even born in 77.

I am not touching it, if its the O-O-T yes, do Lucasfilm really think all the fans have the funds to buy each new version of the same movie when its no/or slighty different to the 2004 version.

Has Lucas changed anything? thats the big question?

I hate to say this and never thought I would, but this is milking the cash cow and a blatant attempt to make the bearded one more cash.

Please tell me that was sarcasm.

No, that was not sarcasm. Is it a crime on these boards to feel that way? It seems in every major board on the net, you have to meet certain conditions to be considered a star wars fan:

1. You have to constantly bash the prequels.
2. You have to constantly bash Lucas, not to mention put an $ at the end of his name.
3. You can only give good remarks to the OT.
4. You must hate CG
5. You must think only episodes 4 and 5 are the two only good movies, you must call them "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back." You can't say "A New Hope" or "episode 4 or 5."

1. I like Sith and praised didnt mind Clones, think Menace is trash
2. praised Lucas filmaking skills. and his business sense, never ever used the $ dont hate the man(makes questionable decsions about the franchise, which the fans have a right to critise and have an opinion)
3. Ewoks are crap
4. like Sith CGI some of SE CGI when it is not a cut and paste job and blends
5. Doesnt matter use both ROTJ is a good movie as is Sith.

Do I fit the criteria to be a STAR WARS fan

Turkish Star Wars

OK, I'm going to admit a horrible thing about myself. When I first got a copy of the HS back in March, I seriously watched it about two or three times a day. I don't know what it is, but I have some sort of strange obsession with the HS.

I have had the Holiday Special for a year and half now and still havent dared watching it, it is something about my favs from Star Wars making fools of themselves, I dont know.

Brazillian SW Turkish Star Wars and Turkish E.T sound ghastly! even worse than the Italian SW rip-offs which I like, I watch all manner of crap so I may give them a go if I get hold of them one day, but still not dare to watch the Holiday Special...

As long as its not a cut and paste job Im not fussy but slightly different from C.C

as per usual

Hayden FILMED to the level of Sebastian Shaw

Luke turns aways away.

Maybe Qui-Gonn appears but so Luke doesnt see him(would not know who he is!).

No Padme (we might as well chuck in Jar Jar as with Padme not force trained)

Because Sin City was actually GOOD. It didn't concentrate so much on the visuals that it forgot about the story. I think that should serve as an example to TMRFE for future reference: If you're gonna use a bunch of CG/blue-screen bits in your movies, just make sure the story is good first.

I agree with what you say, and Sin-City was a very good film

In Menace and Clones certain sequences seemed more like Lucas and ILM showing off, rather than the sequences which enhanced and kept the story moving.

It is another sad indictment of the prequels, some fans would rather watch an fan made edit of them rather than the the official DVD version, when the only edits of the originals the fans want is to bring them back to the thetrical versions or near enough.

People may disagree how come we allowed to view Anakin burning and Anakin on a operating table burnt up, and in the same saga not have Han shooting first?

Jar-Jar was a fair idea(dont flame me) in TPM but Lucas overplayed him and help ruin the film, and while some of the stuff was slightly amusing some of it crossed the line and was not funny and ridicolous.

I would find it interesting to find out what people who hate the prequels felt before they started because I sure most people would be optomistic that it would rival or beat the original trilogy, because everyone surely wanted it to suceed and didnt start hating it for no reason.

When Lucas announced it I was estatic Star Wars is back after 16 years,Lucas cant fail, then Menace came along, what a piece of crap I thought as I posted it is the only SW film I have never seen in a cinema, but I assumed even Lucas is due a crap S W one day, and looked forward to Clones was better and liked it more but still didnt feel truely satisfied with the P.T, Only with Sith did I truely feel it was worth Lucas bringing out new Star Wars films and redeems the P.T slighty more and makes not feel like 9 wasted years and makes Clones more worthwhile.
but it has split the fanbase like never before and encouraged Lucas that he needs to fix the original trilogy again to fit with his prequels and created inconsistencies so is it worth it?

It does not, I bet there loads of people of todays generation and big prequel fans that want a CGI Yoda in the classic trilogy (and not aimed Adam) and they would be more than happy if the whole classic trilogy went CGI, but the problem is some CGI does not blend well with 70s and 80s filmaking, and sticks out

So put me in the 'I don't seriously give a hoot if he ever wants to release the holy golden films that made him the man he is today' club.

I too partly agree but as you said its up to George, but people want Star Wars product and there is big demand and LFL are complying with the supply and demand, i honestly cant believe each new merchandising opportunity the new is one is Transformers - eg Tie Fighters which turn in to robots, Kids will love them and they sell huge amounts, now personally I think somethings amiss if you can have a SW bowling ball and not the O-O-T but thats up to George not any of us.
