If George had only changed Special effects for the SE and DVD, would people have complained as much?
Time
I can live and (maybe more than probably) like updated scenery, ships etc and most cosmetic changes(not including erasing actors performances unless ABSOLUTELY necessary to the story which isnt/wasnt the case with Shaw) and that have NO effect on the pacing of the movie and changes the STORY of the movie, as long as these cosmetic changes are done properly and sensibily,

I even put up with all the 97 stuff which I listed, to watch the SE along side the originals, but Hayden appearing(the performance and (maybe) him) was finally the straw that broke the camels back, so along with other things I abandoned the SEs(I have ever watched the 2004 films twice with my friends and will only do so again with them if they dont want to watch the orignals.... or only to listen to the audio commentries)

Agree (me personally)

I dont really like the SE, and dont watch them now(only under very rare certain circumstances), because of

1.SW.Jabba,Biggs, ESB StarDestroyer scenes mess up the pace of the movies(always liked "Bring my Shuttle")
2.Hayden Christensen(the final straw for me, poor performance of the scene love Shaw performance, if executed better who knows might have won me over?? but as said can accept Lucas reason{whether right or wrong]
3.Han not firing first (the execution of the change looks fake, no sane reason for the change)
4 Jawa,Ronto and Robot Slapstick flying video/surveillance cameras or something???? in Mos Eisley(look crap)
5.Boba voice(always liked the old voice and delivery)

Dont mind Jedi Rocks (its a not an important plot thing) could live with it, but prefer Lapti Nek which is better though
Prefer the SE ending to Yub Yub(except having crappy Gungans)
I like Monkey Woman but maybe would rather have Mcdiarmid for continuty for Jedi (maybe not his greatest performance ever but could live with it)(prefer the old dialouge alot more but could live with new dialouge maybe...)
Really like the X-wings taking off from Yavin(was/is my favourite change)
I dont mind the opening up of Cloud City in ESB.

EDIT

I have never read the novel, was Anakins turn longer and different, I know the book was much more intense than the movie

It would have been a good idea for a 3 hr Star Wars, (but would Lucas want it too run that long) as this was the most important film in the prequel maybe saga as it covered Anakins descent and turn in to evil (which was considered weak by some- people) and the other important points such as The Rebellion scenes etc

It would have been interesting to see it as an "R" (i assume your highest rating) with the scenes but would the key SW audience be unable to attend(I am not to sure on the American Rating System) and it would definatly play on Lucas/Lucasfim mind, I know they had problems with the U.K censors over AOTC they had problems with a headbutt(Jango and Obi Wan) and were offered it uncut at a higher rating, but took the slightly lower rating with the headbutt cut out

That's why RotS gets some extra positive points from me. It is the prequel that FINALLY got the message. Jar Jar sucks. end of story.

Other than that, it's not the end I would have wanted. Characters like Dooku just being thrown away... one big boss fight after another like a video game, grievous (nuff said), midichlorians. It's just a mess. But at least jar jar's been put in his rightful place alongside other extras.

Thank the maker. I think that's the biggest reason I enjoyed anything about episode 3. It may sound petty to some, because there's a lot ot like about episode 3 besides the lack of jar jar, but that's just how I see it after YEARS of wanting a practically jar jar-free episode just like it was in the OT. He really is THAT terrible a character to me.

In Clones and Sith I thought Jar-Jar was o.k because he slightly normal (as normal can be for this clown), but in Menace he was absolute disaster, I was suprised(may not for everyone maybe) to read he was the first character to be devloped for Episode 1 and it was Georges vision for a "talking feeling walking running fainting bundle of amphibous comic relief" when a "human" character may have done the job, or if you keep Jar-Jar dont overplay him like George did and well we now the results, some of it was slightly amusing(as can be for this fool) but compared to the O.T humor it was well slighty iinfintile and to out of place for S.W but then to cap it off we had the pod-racers and Boss Nass and Captain Tarpals who were just as bad, it was soo different from the O.T humor (and their was nothing like it in the O.T) could you imagine if Han and Chewie came across these in their adventures you could imagine Han taking the piss out of them, and then Han and Chewie laughing their heads off.

I would interested to see the movie with that crap taken out it might make a better movie, still the stuff like the(never-ending) podrace and intro, Qui-Gonn finding Anakin. Anakin bulding 3-Po will have me tearing my hair out..

Dooku was wasted as was Maul, Grievous wasnt too bad, but it would have been nice to of had a consistent "villian" instead of the seemingly disposible ones like we had...

Info Wanted: I'm looking for a deleted scene from ANH

If that scene was being added for the next edition any dialouge about Luke would make the new Empire Strikes Back Emperor and Vader dialouge redundant surely

No.2 For me Sith is welcome. Clones is slightly redemmable but not to the extent but not to watch all the time(and not part of my saga), Menace to put it nicely I would rather watch the Holiday Special(as said in another thread parts of Menace are beyond redemption least in the H.S you have Luke Leia Han and Chewie)

With the addition of Sith I have a nice little saga, without too many descrepancies...

You have forgot the mention the famous "I dont like Sand its coarse and irritating and it gets everywhere, Not like here, Here everything is smooth"

I can live with crap acting and dialouge and other things because its Star Wars but in the first two there were/are still times watching scenes when I am thinking "George what the f**K were you thinking"......

I left Menace to rot, have the odd watch of Clones, but like to watch Sith,(because in the end it is all Star Wars)

Thankfully when I watch the O.T I still dont see a whiny Hayden in the suit, and can still thankfully use my imagination for the rest including such things as Obi Wan discovering Anakin doing the things he to Luke said in SW/ROTJ, C3-PO built somewhere else and never being on the Lars farm and Obi Wan being trained by Yoda etc

Wouldnt it have been a great idea instead of Mas Amedda and Sly Moore to have had Tarkin or those Imperial Advisor guys from ROTJ..

Darth Vader birth scene, good or bad choice?
Time
I think people would have been mega pissed off with Lucas if Vader in the famous suit didnt appear, I cant imagine it really crossing Lucas mind about preserving the surprise as he sees as one big story and people would not be pleased with Anakin just to be left for dead and no proper conclusion..

I was suprised the way Anakin was christened as Vader by Palpatine as I expected it to happen after he was wearing the suit, one scene I may have a little grumble with is Palpatine saving Anakin it seemed slighty out for him to be bothered about him seeing as he is so evil and selfish,(how else could Lucas do it?)

I dont dislike the birth scenes and think the actual fitting up of the suit and Anakin having his robotic limbs done are good, now, I dont mind the "NOOOOOOOOO!"(it wasnt needed but oh well) and the Vader dialouge about Padme, and think Mcdiarmid was really good in the scene, I personally think a maybe better end to the movie would have been the Vader scene in the Destroyer not the Luke scene.

I also would have loved to see the him(suited Vader) in action but as we know Lucas sprang the surprise(to me) of (unsuited) Vader doing the business(maybe shown him actually killing a Jedi or two)

Also when I did try to spread the word accross these "fans" they really didn't care about the O-OT and said "Watch the original movies on your old VHS copies instead of unesscarly getting it on DVD."

I nearly lost passion in the O-OT and the petition.

You would be having kittens(as should all of us if it wasnt so funny) at what I have just read on the T.F.n this guy wants basically the O.T CGI I am talking basically everything all the DS wall Panels CGI Ion Cannon CGI Luke and Yoda lightsabre training The CGI Falcon doing dog flips, CGI Yavin Hangar,CGI Endor Battle, etc etc I was trying not too laugh, (I would love to link it so you could see it..)

I/We may be concerned about changes but some peoples wants tantamount to Lucas shooting a new film(and I think someone will be dissapointed come the next version)

I have just been watching it, I was watching the Ridley Scott cut with the coccon scene added, and prefer that version,

As for my horror film I will watch most things from Hammer, Friday 13th to the Italian stuff like Cannibal Holocaust. except the crap that is produced today though I did not think House of Wax was too bad except for Paris Hilton, and is still not a patch on the original,

John Carpenter used to be master with things like The Fog Halloween and The Thing but hasnt produced anything half decent since Prince of Darkness/They Live,

Think Romero is up there with the best with Cronenberg now...

Star Wars Article for redbaron (and for discussion)
Time
George does like a lie everynow and again like the rest of us, my favourite one as has been mentioned is the current version of the original trilogy available as being his "original vision", and then it changes again, and I cant believe he doesnt know or has not any clue what goes in those books some of the time(though not necesserily reading them, a story and chracter outline he must see), and we all hope that him not wanting to release the O.O.T again is another lie(though I wouldnt count on that one).

As for the thread issue it does seem like Lucas was fed up with Star Wars by the time of Jedi and it may/may not have showed in the final product, and he I believe, I may be wrong, he was wanting to do less commerical filmaking(THX 1138 type things) at that point in time, and can well believe a 9 film trilogy was on the cards at one time or another....

Some EarlY Star Wars TV details
Time
I dont know how much of this is true or whether its recycled news but I found this article in this weeks U.K Zoo magazine.

After tarnishing his second most famous movie trilogy with the quite awful Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, George Lucas has moved his televisual sights on the sci-fi sextext Star Wars, And after failed TV tryouts for the Ewoks and Wookies, Lucas has settled on the coolest character of all, the bounty hunter who stalked Han Solo, Boba Fett,

Set between R.O.T.S and the original Star Wars the 50 hour series will follow a 20 year old Boba Fett as he follows in his father Jango's footsteps(without being decapitated) to become the most fearsome Bounty Hunter of them all. Lucas is currently interviewing potential cast and writers at his Skywalker Ranch, although the part of Boba is rumored to going to the little kid who played him in Attack of the Clones, the now not so-little 18 year old Daniel Logan, Cult Clerks director(and Star Wars fanatic) Kevin Smith is thought to be down to direct the series which begins production in 2007, And although the story will feature mostly new characters, the original Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill is rumored to be guest-starring in a different role each episode.......

I have heard most of this before, but found the Boba Fett possible theme interesting.......

Can you imagine Han fighting Luke, that is what the duel in ROTS should have felt like.
Time
I have seen all six twice, the prequels do work better as a trilogy but Menace is still the weakest and in Clones various plot points in Menace are recalled(Anakin telling Obi Wan he hasnt seen Padme in 10 years Jar Jar doing the same Padme reminding the audience that Anakin was a little boy on Tatooine when they, recalling Gunrays been on trial for what he did etc) but no mention of Qui-Gonn(which weakens his character until his brief mention at the end of Sith) so theoretically you can live without it but maybe to get the full value watch Menace.Clones does tie in better to Sith and you can see the dilemma of Anakin with his visions of his Mother dying and her subsequent death, and the visions of Padme he has and a reasoning behind the selling of his soul to Palpatine to save her and how his "love" for Padme which has grown over the years and the polictical side does work well and Palpatines rise is convincing but there is still crap in my opinion in the first two which was not necessary...........

Now how they correspond and tie-in to the originals is another issue.....

it felt to me like two different trilogies rather than one complete saga

and watching the six I have to admit even though I didnt think Clones is as bad as people make out, I could not wait for Sith or the originals to start...
