Understanding the saga - A perspective from T.F.N
Time
To me Jedi is weakest of the Classic Trilogy and I do feel Jabbas scenes are bit long but like them, and I still enjoy the film alot especially because of the final battle and the Vader/Luke/Emperor scenes, and it is always my third or fourth choice when watching a Star Wars film, I can see what you are saying about the Pod race, but I find it can drag and I can lose interest, and i find some of the racers abit silly especially that guy with the big head and no body.

I enjoy all of the films in the same way. But I don't watchany of them very much, becuase I have a low attention span.

No thats your opinion, I dont find it as enjoyable because of Jar Jar and think the podrace goes on too long especially in the official one,and I think the others are of better quality, I try at least to see the original film at least once or twice a fortnight, then Empire then probably Jedi or Sith depending on what time i have available.

Yes, you're 17 years old and we're supposed to take your opinion seriously.

Well, JDs post was meant to represent the opinions of young people toward the PT, so I think that allows my post to be taken into consideration.

A very odd post I must say.

Isn't that all pretty obvious from simply watching the films or moreover listening to Lucas's endless rhetoric.

I still have big problems linking the two Trilogies. They seem like chalk and cheese to me.

The OT was inventive, original (well, traditional with a twist), funny, clever and above all entertaining. The PT for me was trite and derivitive and lacked all that made the OT such a big part of childhood. I really don't think that the PT will grow with it's child audience the way that the OT did with my generation. My newphews have grown up with the PT and have already moved on. They still like the OT but say that the PT is good for their little cousin - aged 4.

I don't think this TV series will do much to help matters either.

I have to agree, to me the saga is like putting a square peg into a round hole it doesnt fit IMO, I can watch the Prequel films if I feel like it but I dont find them as enjoyable and dont have the same replay value as the Original films and I also notice the quality drop from the original films especially Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

To be honest, I rarely set through any of the films anymore. Now, I mostly read the books/comics (which I find superior to the films). If it weren't for the EU, Star Wars would be pretty dry, IMHO. And, IMO, all of the films have an equal replay value. I really don't think ANH is any better than, say, TPM.

I have disagree about the replay value, for me anyway, i must have seen the original Star Wars film at least 200+ times and even today sometimes I watch it twice a day and enjoy it immensly, but its a struggle sometimes through thl TPM for me if I felt like watching it

Yeah, Moonraker has always seemed to me to be a little... farfetched for a Bond film. I mean, it's obvious that it was a cash-in on the whole Star Wars/sci-fi craze of the time.

Yeah I think it was a definate cash-in as at the end of TSWLM it was announced I believe that FYEO was the next Bond film but because of Star Wars etc they did Moonraker instead, and yes some of it was far-fetched and Drax isnt a very interesting villian and didnt like what they did to Jaws in the film turning him into a good guy as he was better as a villian like he was in TSWLM, and a some of it is just played for laughs and is a re-hash of other Bond films, though to be fair it does have some good action sequences..

I actually like most of the theme songs my favourites are Live and Let Die by Sir Paul, Nobody does it better by Carly Simon though the one I hate the most is Die Another Day by Madonna, my favourite Bond villians are Goldfinger. Grant from FRWL and the Donald Pleasence Blofeld, I used to love Moonraker as a kid but as I have got older its become one of my least favourites and now rank it at the bottom along side stuff like Die Another Day, though the newest one Die Another Day is the only one I truely dont like

Being a bit of a Bond fan I am kinda looking forward to this one and seeing how well the new Bond performs, I just hope the standard is raised from World is Not Enough and Die Another Day which IMO shouldnt be too difficult, Bronson in my opinion was wasted as Bond as apart from Goldeneye has wasnt given enough good material to work with and would have like to see him given another go with decent material.

As for Adams question my favourite Bond film is From Russia with Love, and the best Bond IMO was definatly Sean Connery though I felt Dalton was an underated Bond,I really like the majority of the Bond films though some of the worser ones IMO were definatly in the Roger Moore era like Moonraker, A View to a Klll and Octopussy.

I have a friend whose older brother watched the originals a lot when she was a kid. Like most girls she didn't pay any attention, and says she didn't understand it. Now she has seen the PT and is a big fan of it, but doesn't bother to watch the originals because of memories that "they were hard to understand" (???????). It's extremely annoying to me, but I am trying to lead her to watch the OT. She doesn't have anything against it, just is lazy about it I guess. I know there are actually a lot of people out there like this. I've talked to them.

She thinks the OT is hard to understand and the prequels are easy to understand? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

The OT: boy meets droids, wizard, pirate and wookie. They save princess. Blow up space station. Go to ice world to hide. Boy meets muppet wizard. Pirate and Princess fall in love and get captured. Pirate gets frozen, boy fights evil masked man. Finds out evil masked man is his dad. The gang rescues the pirate. They have another space station to blow up. Meet up with a bunch of teddy bears. Boy faces evil masked man daddy. Tempted to become evil by old wrinled man. Evil masked man saves boy and becomes good again and then dies. Teddy bears help the good guys blow up shield, second space station blown up. They live happily ever after.

PT: Trade disputes, senate hearings, gambling on pod races. Slavery. Midichorians. Trade federation negotiations. Seperatists. Evil Sith Lord living a double life as a Senator and then the Chancelor of the Republic. Jedi Councel meetings. Hired assasins. Bounty hunter used to create clone army.

Least The Original Trilogy is interesting and enjoyable to watch with its simple to understand plot even to me now after seeing them at least 200+times each, but there were times when I watched Ep1 & Ep2 and I was bored out of my head and had to switch them off despite its more complex plot there was times i didnt find it interesting .

I agree as well, I love watching the fan-edits especially ADMs, Darth Editious and Magnoliafans "vision" of the film(s), they have made the films better in some ways with their edits and more enjoyable, I also appreciate people like OCPmovie and the preservers for their hard work in getting the OOT onto DVD so I can watch them again on a decent format.
