If you’re going with the one layer Saber let me know once things are laid up, if there’s any missing parts I’ll try to help where I can. If its just one layer, no scale change or masking around object etc it should be fairly simple. Just not sure how quick my computer will let me work…

Or I could teach someone the effect to get it done in time.

I’m only replying from Hals first request, not had time to read the last page of comments but from what I remember Kewlfish wasn’t happy with the cave shots. He gave me most of his AF templates but not those shots or none of the original footage. When I worked out which plate went with what shot they were all off by a few inches and some had double frames so it was easier for me to start fresh.

I’m not sure what the issue was, maybe mine was 800p and Kewlfish used 1080p? It was a year ago so can’t really remember.

I showed the community reworkings of Kewlfish, Luka and my own saber effects but people preferred mine which unfortunately included 5 layers instead of one, so it took forever!

I then noticed I was using a badly compressed source rip so will have to redo those again now I’ve mastered a bluray rip.

Basically, every scene I finished, I learnt a new technique which meant redoing each scene again. I lost patience, time and the ability to work for hours as my computer now overheats and crashes before saving.

I haven’t even been able to open any AF projects in 5 months so I’ve no idea what was finished or not but I’d like to keep the 5 layer effect just for continuety but I’ve no idea when I can even start fan editing again cos life hates me right now.

1. I’ve done edits of TFA, TLJ & Solo but those were years ago and only in 720p and stereo. I’ve learnt so much since then so redoing them all after this project.

2. I’ve deliberately not added anymore changes inc the ending as people requested no more spoilers for this cut.

What’s your source, stereo or 5.1? The original dialogue sounds very spacious but the new words sound compressed. Does it go from stereo or mono? Hard to tell on my phone.

I like the “Captain Hux” best but you just need to add a little reverb (Not echo) to the new line and it should feel more natural. Nice job Sherlock.

I guess the one good thing about my type of colourblindness is that I can see primary colours but red is always an issue as half tone blend to Brown, pinks or even greens sometimes so anything off red really stands out to me.

It’s a fantastic shot though. It works great.

I dunno if it’s me being colourblind but the tone of each shot seems different in each. Has it been colourmatched? The Biomes sky almost looks brown to me.

I managed to get the 720p version but it’s still beautiful. What was the source in the end? It seems too clean for a TV or LD rip.

I’m now wondering if the 4k release has upscaled the deleted scene?

I was obsessed with this movie as a kid, mainly for the non PC and cheeky rudeness. I haven’t seen it as an adult so it’s great to hear you’ve recreated closer to the original.

Does any of this include the deleted pig scene or any of the dialogue changes from the original or is it just the infamous 3 cut scenes? I think that was my first introduction to “deleted scenes”

That’s a shame, Poppa. I definately wasn’t suggesting reversing the original footage, did that before and the smoke look well off.

@poppa, just had a thought. Cant you just use the same flight path in reverse and flip the models 180?

I just feel that narrative speaking, anything moving left to right or back to front shows the story progressing but anything from down to back makes for a weird transition.

@jar jar Yeah, 21C Peasant did a great job but he had to use a 720p pre-rendered source from YouTube. We did our best at getting him 4k footage but the TIEs still looked a little off.

I feel it felt more natural having the TIEs coming from space and flying towards the camera, no? i.e. coming in from high to low then cut to flyover.

The way I saw it was, The forest becomes more dense the further away from the castle hence the other Volcanic shot I shared that Nev colour corrected to show the transition. Is that being used in this edit?
