Idea: Hey MoveAlong ... I have the Indiana Jones Story LPs
Time
Who knows, maybe after I finish the SW trilogy, I might want to take this on. It's probably going to be a few years before I could get to them at the pace I'm going now . These things just take me a long time. DF, I would like to get copies of these from you if possible, PM me. When I told you I wasn't interested, I had just finished SW and was a little burned out. I've kind of found my editing niche with this format and I think I'll want to continue this once the ovt (original vinyl trilogy) is complete. Here's what's on my list currently.

1) Empire needs to be authored. The edit is complete.

2) Jedi

3) SW v2 using X0 source material (praying) and 2.35:1

4) Indy trilogy???

If someone could do Indy justice before I could get to it, all the power to you!

Getting too old for this sort of thing?
Time
36

Saw SW in San Francisco in 77. I was living in Kentfield, up in Marin County at the time. I remember my Mom telling me about "that local guy, George" who did American Graffiti had been working on a space movie. I was oblivious to American Graffiti, as you can imagine as a 7 year old... But, the idea of a space movie sounded cool. I don't remember the theater (don't live there anymore), but I do remember having to stand in a line that wrapped around a couple of blocks three or four times. I have memory burn of when Vader walks into the Tantive IV and pauses, looking at the battle's dead. Everyone in the theater was cheering loudly for him. "Who the heck is this guy?", I was thinking. Oh yeah, I was hooked...

Saw ESB in Salt Lake City of all places in 80. Driving across the country with my Mom and our old BMW 2002 broke down outside of SLC. Got towed into town. My Mom dropped me off at a theater and I watched it 3 times in a row. It had been out for a few weeks so the people at the theater didn't care. When the car was fixed, we continued on. Really didn't want to leave that theater...

Yeah, I guess I'm one of the old ones too...

I have them all and am in the process of preparing them for usenet. Hopefully, that will be this weekend. BTW, this 4 disc set's authoring and menus are just amazing. By far the best I have seen in a fan release. Actually, they blow away anything that LFL has put out...

Wow, really? I'd be interested in seeing that. An Ed Wood script that's actually done well and is sought after? If only Ed was still alive to see that.

It's still filled with the kitch and humor of Ed Wood films, but the tone and art direction in I Woke Up are absolutely impeccable. It's an homage without making fun. Maybe I should make a torrent of it to seed on Demonoid so more people can check it out.

I'd definitely be interested in that...

I got a question though. will there be a version 2 of the story of star wars in the correct ratio of 2:35:1?
Yes. In a perfect world, I would love to use the X0 as the source. Hopefully it will be available after I'm done with Jedi.
The opening of the return of the jedi album read by the narrator is different than that in the film, what ideas do you have about that. are you going to do a new title crawl with the words altered to match the narrator's?
Yes. Empire also uses a custom crawl. Only one thing is different on the album. Malachi Throne says "dispatches" instead of "has dispatched". Rebel_1138's crawl is flawless.
did you do any further audio cleanup beyond what Scotty Balls did originally?

No.
it is going to be on dvd in PCM sound right. are you going to include a dolby track as well?

PCM only. Thanks for the interest...

Are the two different sources seamless? Is the look of the 2004 video any better?

It is a MUCH better version than 1.0. Ocp's compositing in and out old and new sources is pretty good. It's not seamless but it's pretty good. The 2004 video has been CC'd. The gamma has been changed for a brighter picture. I think there are times when the blacks are a little noisy due to this. I enjoyed it and had no problem replacing 1.0 with it on my shelf. If you're a fan of the Classic Editions, then you really need to get the dual layer version 2.0...

How to extract BTM lost scenes?
Time
Well, it would have helped if I had actually opened the prompt from the correct directory! Figured that one out eventually. What can I say? CL's intimidate me . I am getting better, though. I do some things in OS X's Terminal (srm and such...)

Anyway. Got all the video files extracted and they're awesome. It's been a while since I've watched DM. I actually sort of like the pixelization! Thanks so much for everything you do to help us out Laserman! I'm really interested to see how someone could put some polish on these...

Can any windows users tell me what everyone uses to analyze their dvd's? I'm looking to find exactly what my peak bitrate is. The audio is PCM and I want to make sure that I'm OK with my video encoding bitrate. It plays fine on my Mac and my set top player, but I just want to make sure... and I can't find anything that will precisely tell me what I want to know on the Mac. Thanks.

lj, were you able to use my files for the torrent?

What files? I've essentially downloaded MoveAlong's Usenet post and my plan is to just torrent those files "as is". That way, anyone that's grabbed them off Usenet can help to seed if they like.

It would be better if the torrented version was the same as the usenet version. It is the final version sent to me by ocpmovie for distribution. There is plenty of SW CE artwork on there...

How to extract BTM lost scenes?

OK, I could use some help. Now bear with me, I'm a Mac guy... In Virtual PC (Win2k Pro), I've managed to open a command prompt window (no small accomplishment) and I guess run grisc.exe. I get this:

GrSmush converter Version 0.1 (hacky-hack version)
Usage: grisc snm-filename

I know, windows users everywhere are rolling thier eyes at me now. How and where do I enter the command in the nfo "grisc videofilename"??

Thanks

So, if I understand correctly, the first alt.binaries posting of PE was slightly different than the original, but still worked, and then later, another version was posted with the addendum "newer menu", which fixed that and was actually identical to the original? For some reason, I seem to remember someone having trouble with the original version that was posted, and that being the reason for the "newer menu" version (although it wasn't really "newer", it actually was the original).

Puggo, my post files were made directly from your lightscribed dvd (the original). I even re-created the disc from those RAR files and tested it (I try to do that every time). It worked fine. The .sfv file I posted was created directly from your lightscribed dvd. I have not heard of anyone having any problem with my post files, either here or on absw.
