Project Index: Star Wars Preservations <em>(last update 29th Oct '17)</em>
Time

Carried out a big update to this 4 year old list today. Still some more projects that could do with being added.

There are a lot of projects where we have a discussion thread on the forum, but no specs or details on the wiki (and it's unlikely there ever will be, as interest in these older projects is minimal these days). The best resource for details on these projects would be Russ's Galactic Trade Federation site.

Need Help to sync DD 5.1 LD rip to LD video capture for 97 SE &quot;Take 2&quot; Set

actually I do not know how to set up an avisynth script to do what you have there, another thing I did not know avisynth could do LOL,I have just been loading the avi file into VDub and then loading the audio into VDub and using it to find and set delay like I have always done, and yes I have been down converting to wav.

Is it better to check sync with your avisynth method?

It should not make any difference whether you use AviSynth or Virtualdub. If you want to try avisynth, the script is very simple:

video=avisource("anh2.avi")
audio=wavsource("anh2.wav")
audiodub(video, audio)
delayaudio(0.000) # adjust for sync

What prog are you using to decode/downmix the AC3?

If I understand correctly, the audio was ripped by someone else? How did you receive it, is it one AC3 file per LD side?

Because it's a digital rip, I would not expect to see any audio drift, it should be locked to the video.

Firstly, I would check to see if it syncs to the raw video, to ensure that your IVTC hasn't changed the overall running time.

I notice that AvP uploaded it at 'teh...'. I see two files: one is NTSC.dlc, and one is RIP.dlc. What does RIP mean? Do I need it?

At a guess, the "rip" would be an AVI version for those wanting a smaller download.

Help Wanted: 'The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly' - Italian picture + English audio?
Time

Leonenut's project was a Restoration of the full length Rome Premiere Cut (181 minutes), with an English mono soundtrack. This appears to be the shorter Italian cut (174 minutes) but with English 6ch PCM audio?

Either way, I wouldn't call it a Fan Edit (probably a Restoration or Custom DVD) so I'm moving the thread.

default image for 404 avatar images
Time

There is a default image for those who have not set an avatar:

However, the problem you are referring to is for certain members who had avatars in the old software that have somehow been lost, but the link remains, for example none (http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/avatars/custom/avatar-857.gif) or Trooperman (http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/avatars/custom/avatar-1516.gif).

In Firefox, the missing avatar is shown as a short wide box that breaks the forum table. In IE, you get a white box with a little red cross; the box is sized the same as the other avatars and keeps the table layout intact.

The easiest fix would be to get all the members who have missing avatars to either delete them or upload a new image.

Ady, I tried to replace the audio stream with the one you uploaded but I always get this error in MuxMan:

This error means that for some reason Muxman is unable to write to the output file. I suspected that your hard drive was full, but you say it's not, so it must be some other reason. I assume you have write access to the output folder because VOBs 01_1 to 01_5 finished OK. Is some other program opening/locking the VOB 01_6 file?

(Also a bit confused about the "pass 2" bit, because I though Muxman was a single pass multiplexer.)

I do exactly whats in the instructions.

There's nothing wrong with the instructions, several people have followed them and experienced no problems with the process.

Thread for all Usenet vs Torrent vs Rapidshare discussion

Why not use Rapidshare?  Just use Jdownloader, give it the links, and it will do it the download automatically for free.

because usenet is much faster and less hassle........

Frink- I've checked out JDownloader and it looks like a good program, but unless I'am missing something I would still have a 15min wait between         every file with Rapidshare, unless I purchase an account.

No, you are correct.  You still have to wait 15 minutes between downloads if you want to do it for free, plus your download speed is limited.  But the thing is, once you start the first download, you no longer have to do anything else.  You can start it up, and go to sleep, work, whatever, and it will just keep plugging away for you.  Yeah, it might take a couple of days depeneding on your speed and the size of the files, but what more could you want for free?  Unless you *have* to have the edit that day, it's a great way to go.

I don't know usenet so I can't argue it being faster or not.  But Jdownloader is so automated, how could you consider it a hassle?

How does ignore work?
Time

Jay, here's a suggestion for enhancement: there might be an occasion when you want to stop someone from sending you PMs, but still want to read their posts on the forum. This is not possible under the current setup - you have to ignore their posts if you want to select any other options.

TV's Frink said:

Sure, I suppose I could ignore someone and see what happens, but I don't like to be rude.

You could always ignore Ric Olie. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
