STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

My only issue with the extended TIE sequence was the EMPIRE march music being used. You have some fast paced Williams music going on, and then the slower march kicks in and then merges back with the faster paced music... making it sound a bit clunky.

I could see some of those helping Ady with EMPIRE:R helping to recreate a newer version with either a new score to match/synch with William's faster paced music, or the scene being timed with William's ANH score.

And I'd still prefer the DS blowing up in mid-shot then seeing Tarkin scratching his chin looking pensive.

I'm not crazy about re-using Yavin.... If the Empire wanted to reuse the Death Star, it would make sense for them to tow the remains to a a more secure location of Endor where they could put up a shield generator to protect it instead of keeping things put in a place the Rebels are already familiar with.

Unless it was a trap.

To be fair, I WAS just joking. It's Shaw's ghost.....already decided, ages ago. But if you want MY opinion on the best way to end ROTJ....it would be to have Luke see the ghosts at the funeral pyre instead of at the party. They smile at him, fade away, and then Han & Leia come looking for Luke....no dialogue, the music does the talking, but we clearly see that Luke tells them he has to go, and can't join them at the party, they shake hands/hug....he walks over to his X-Wing and Han & Leia go back to the party and the films ends as it does now.

I think this would have strengthened the idea that the "Returning Jedi" wasn't Luke....but THE JEDI....the order, not the individual....and Luke is off to go make that happen. Unfortunately I think Lucas had had his fill and wanted a nice unambiguous ending.

I know this should be in the JEDI WISH LIST thread, but here's an idea:

Why not have no ghosts at all?

There is nothing saying that you couldn't edit it so you start at the party, Leia goes to look for Luke, cut away with her looking pensive, cut to Luke roasting Vader's body and camera moves up to show the X-wings dropping fireworks... but instead of the shot stopping, it continues to pan up and move towards the stars, where you then edit/fade/montage into the galaxy celebration scenes.

I like this idea.. if you ARE going to have so many references to ANH, then why not make it a bit more logical? In fact, would it be conceivable to show a few ewoks on the picture fringe in the shot after the Falcon lands on Yavin 4 and you see the gang in front of the South American temple? Again, you'd only see them at a distance and in that one shot (say somewhere on the left of the screen, or possibly in the foreground moving branches aside/out of the way of the camera akin to some of the shots in SASQUATCH: THE LEGEND OF BIGFOOT), but it would be enough so when you get to JEDI:R, it would imply that the ewoks ARE familair with the rebels, as they kept an eye on them while they were staying there 4 to 6 some odd years prior.

It would also give some more motivation for the Empire, as they are not only repairing "Tarkin's folly", but have been scouring Endor for rebel secrets they may have left behind in the years since ANH. You can add a mission for the rebels in JEDI in that they have to destroy what is left of their old base, to make absolutely sure the Empire has nothing to salvage.

I still like the idea of rebels that have long infiltrated the Empire, as both stormtroopers and officers, and could be both on the DS and on the ground.

Your pictures prove that the scanner is to the side of the cockpit and he then turns to face forward. The curvature of the window shows that the audience is viewing from the rear of the cockpit looking directly forward.

I think the only (minor) issue I would see is that the windshield curvature would need to be deleted, as Boba should be sitting out in the cockpit, ie the walls of the ship would be behind him:

When the AT-AT fires at the sheild generator at "full power", it would be fitting to see the AT-AT's fire-power having to be charged up momentarily before it fired on the rebels power generator.

Perhaps, with an electronic static charge with the cannons when it cocks its rear leg out, before destroying the generator as another option. But hopefully just making the shots of the laser-blast more amplfied(larger), compared to the usual AT-AT fire power.

That would be pretty cool. One could add a second of Vermithrax's power up sound FX (at 3:55).

I could also see the shield generator going up the way the Spice Factory goes up in the trailer (at 1:36) where you see the shockwave move through the snow (or sand in this case).

Info: The Matrix - with original theatrical color timing?
Time

Just to let you guys know, someone has created an altered color timed version of THE MATRIX on TehParadox.com:

KingKong650's regraded THE MATRIX

Technical Specs:

Name: Regraded The Matrix

Size: 16.9 GB

Video: 1920x804 H264 23.976

Audio Track 1: DTS-HD 5.1 Cinema (Theater) Audio

Audio Track 2: Dolby 6 Channel AC3

Subtitle Track 1: English Subtitles

Subtitle Track 2: Spanish Subtitles

Thank you everybody for all the feedback on the 8GB regraded release of The Matrix, I have been really pleasantly surprised by the amount of positive feedback for this release. Many of you requested a 16GB regraded version of The Matrix so I'm very happy to oblige. :)

This 16GB release also includes an impressive DTS-HD audio track not included on the blu-ray that was put together by CapableMetal, Doombot and JetrellFo from originaltrilogy.com. Thank you guys for allowing me to include your great audio track with this release! Those of you (like myself) that felt the True HD and AC3 audio on the blu-ray lacked a bit of umph in the action sequences compared to what you remember from the cinema, especially the blows and impacts in fight scenes, will really enjoy this DTS-HD track.

Here are some words from JetrellFo about what went into creating this DTS-HD track:

"The DTS audio you are about to experience with The Matrix is actual Cinema (Theater) audio that comes from the DTS discs used when the movie plays. It has been adjusted for home use with as little processing as possible to keep the quality intact. A lot of Blu-ray audio has been remixed or remastered and I've heard plenty of reports saying that they wished it was how they heard it in the theater because that is where it made the impact on them.

What we did was to take the reels of audio from the CD's and edit out the cueing pulse material so the audio could be stitched back together to sync with the theatrical version of the movie. We wanted to preserve that "moving going" experience for the home. You can find DTS whitepapers on line that explain how it is used in the theater.

Thanks to DoomBot for taking on the editing/synching tasks and thanks to our own "Yoda", CapableMetal for his expertise and advice. Without these 2, this project would have been for naught and died slowly. I am including the MediaInfo on this audio file so folks have an idea of what they'll be hearing. Please enjoy and leave us feedback on your home experience with this audio.

Format : DTS
Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems
Format profile : MA / Core
File size : 2.11 GiB

After the sequels came out, the original matrix film had a strong green tint added to the whole film that wasn't there with the original release, so it would match up with the very green look of the sequels. I have removed this additional strong green tint added to the new Matrix transfer, making the film's colour palette far more balanced overall. I have also reduced the contrast to reduce blown out highlights and crushed blacks on the blu-ray transfer to match up better with the image dynamics of the original dvd release of The Matrix, giving the film a more 'filmic' quality.

I hope you enjoy what I've done here with this release. Here are some comparisons below:

The walking tree seeds was just EU nonsense.....in McQuarrie's painting they are clearly arachnids or spider-like animals of some sort.

While I agree it does 'sound' like EU stuff... IMO McQuarrie's painting heavily suggests a relationship beteen the spiders and the trees, one is white, one is brown but they are the same shape, same size, same texture (Especially the knobly abdomen).

Also keep in mind that most creatures, specifically insects, tend to evolve according to their surroundings.

Ady: sorry to hear about what happened with the camera. I don't know if this will help, but there is a guy named Bill Handel who may be able to help. I would suggest shooting him an email and see if he has any legal advice.

I would suggest Google file. I have a friend by the name of RIG over on TehP who uploads MGM-HD UK movies for me (as I'm located in the US). He usually ups his RAR files on Google File, and those things load up FAST. I can usually download a 4.37gb movie within a few hours using Google.

There are a few places it could fit in the background:

(1) when R2 is looking into Yoda's hut while it's raining

(2) when Luke is moving about on the vines (or more specifically after he comes back down to the ground)

(3) when Luke approaches and enters the tree

The main thing is giving the impression that even the trees can get up and uproot themselves, ie EVERYthing on Dagobah is alive, squirming and moving.

Very cool dark_jedi , so is the source for the uncut a hdtv capture?

Probably but I also have the rare OOP recalled DVD of this as well and You_Too did a fantastic job of upscaling it, but we will see, either way this BD will be uncut when we are done with it.

Didn't you get the MGM-HD UK rip I sent you? That is completely uncut and in true 720p HD. I don't know how much better you can get than that when it comes to the unedited version of SWAMP THING.

Well, there's nothing saying that if anything is added, it's just when the Falcon is coming back (ie similar to the background stuff in The Last Battle in ANH:R, you just show the TIEs above the city fighting with cloud cars and other ships trying to escape, with smoke coming from where the city on top is being pummeled).

Hell, at least show a plethora of ships in the distance all around the upper area of the frame showing the mass evacuation. ANYthing to add some life and show what Lando gave an order for.

In response to the above image, I had always assumed that the threat of the Empire meant taking over Cloud City, not necessarily destroying it. Think Martial Law, not Mass Execution. Though it could be argued that the Empire WOULD do a mass slaughter, in this case I just thought it would lead to the lockdown of Cloud City more than anything, with the only certain fear of death being put upon the main characters, though that also isn't guaranteed since the capture of a high ranking rebellion leader like Leia would be worth the effort, even if it wasn't very effective in ANH.

If I were to add anything to the shot of Cloud City as the Falcon fled, it would be a Star Destroyer arriving to blockade and (offscreen) drop Stormtroopers off. But I do think seeing random ships evacuating in the background is already enough.

Well, the idea would be to keep it relatively small. I wouldn't want to see "mass destruction" per se so much as TIEs shooting down the pod cars attacking them as they cover ships fleeing the city I would at least show the engine lights of multiple ships leaving the city, and maybe show the lights going out as the city is abandoned/deserted.

DON'T YOU DARE USE LOGIC AND REASON IN THIS THREAD. AND DON'T YOU DARE TELL US WHAT NOT TO WORRY ABOUT. WHY AM I SHOUTING.

But you're not shouting.. you're just writing in larger letters.

I think the only thing I would like to see with the Vadergram is just lighting up the base underneath him to show that it's a functioning holographic projector. I'm fine with the Vader image itself, especially knowing (1) it will be in motion and (2) we only see it for a few seconds, though even as a kid (on repeated viewings) I just wondered where the holo-image came from, as nothing in the frame is "turned on".

Regardless, don't ever let the comments get you down, Ady. In the end, it's just comments on something you are working on to suit yourself, which you are sharing with us.

I think - along the lines of Bingowings - we should probably see some kind of glow from the machine itself. It hardly needs to be a radical effect. Even just a blue glow or something. Like this:

If Ady goes with this idea or something similar one other thing to note is that the metal curved plate seen off to the left (actually it's a base plate) is the same texture as the four squares so the plate underneath should be differentiated in texture if this idea or something based on this is done.

as this also is an illusion breaker

or vice versa on texture... Basically the four squares need to feel unique.

Um... why? Muddy's mod negates the entire point of this suggestion (by darkening it), which is to show HOW this is a holographic device (as all holographic devices in STAR WARS give a glow or project from something). There is no need to change the texture of the 4 square panels, as this is STAR WARS technology.. it only has to look cool and functional enough that we get the idea as to how it works, much less that it simply does.

The only real change I could see is getting rid of those 2 small bumps on the lower left of the 3rd square (and make it uniform with the square on the right side). Well, that and Vader looks like Cotton Hill.

I always figured that Vader was on his kneeling holo circle that he was on when speaking to the Emperor (ie Veers is projected in much the same way when speaking to Vader). Thinking about that, it looks like Vader is on one knee, as you can only see his left foot, which can only be bent at the knee due to how short the distance between his foot and his hip is:

Talking storm troopers are more dangerous

As promised I did a mock-up of some storm trooper dialogue put in to stop the storm troopers in Empire Strikes Back from being mute.

Ideally some new lines of dialogue would be better but to show you what I mean and to keep some continuity I thought it was a good idea so I did it. I am not suggesting anything should be done of this nature for revisited but I would really like to see them talk again, and if they did in revisited well it would be great this video is a window to what could be perhaps.

weather or not you like it or hate it as a mock up, is not the point it's that at least for me they don't say a word and and I like some of it myself and am unsure also on some of what I did but it's more a demonstration than 100% solid suggestion.

Enjoy and discuss if you like, the link is below

password = blast them

Just checked it out and I loved it. Now what makes this so great is that it would be easy to add an alternate audio track with or without the stormtrooper comments. I can go either way, as the silent troopers was the way EMPIRE always was.. but this added a bit of life to it too (I even loved the "do you know what's going on?" moment, as you know that's what one of them would say).

I say when EMPIRE:R comes out, Ronster, go ahead and create a modified audio track with the stormtrooper audio. One can then use MKVmerge to add it to their existing E:R and have the choice.

I think the only ST comment I would take out would be the ones prepping Han for torture (they would probably keep quiet for no other reason than to just not do anything that could get Vader's attention), as well as the "right" response at 2:25 after the first trooper says "Follow me!" (even that line I could see taken out, as the trooper already said "load your weapons", thus they're all alerted and already know what they need to do).

Also consider using audio modulation to maybe make some of the ST voices a bit lower, just to vary the audio responses.

So given all the fresh ideas in the thread lately, I though I'd throw a few of my own out there. I'm sure adywan would consider at least a few of these, and I think they'd really enhandce the ESB:R experience.

When Han and Chewie confront the Probe Droid on Hoth, it's really unlikely that the droid would miss Han so badly, and that Han would hide like a coward rather than firing back. Why not have the droid fire at both of them at the same time, and they could both fire back (but miss due to the extreme cold). Then Luke could ride up on his Taun Taun and slice the droid with his laser sword.

No, no, no. If anything should be changed, it should be making the probe droid shoot first. We all know Han doesn't shoot first:

Anyway when CSP0 get's blasted by a storm trooper off screen...

I wonder if the original or special edition dialogue will be used... But the main point i wanted to raise was it actually does not sound like a storm trooper...

I think the sole reason the voice is so different from the way Stormtroopers sounded in ANH is simply because the audience would automatically know who it was. While we could still figure out it must be someone bad, you don't know the motivation behind it, thus making the reveal of Darth and Boba a shock (especially to those of us younger than 14 years old).

Maybe it doesn't matter as much now, since we know who it is.. but I could go either way (with keeping the original gruff voice, or something akin to the Stormtrooper higher pitched and modulated voice in ANH).
