Hello Everyone!!!!!

I have just signed up to here after reading all these posts on Highlander 2 and thought I'd chip in my experiences of this film.

When I first saw this film I hadnt seen the first one so was not aware of the "highlander Legend" so took it at face value and actually enjoyed it. Having now seen all of the films I can understand people frustration about it. Looking back I reckon it would be a good B movie if the highlander aspects of it were removed and just played as a sci fi / action film.

My first experience of Highlander 2 was a bootleg of the now legendary workprint on VHS back in the early 90's. It ran like the Quickening version but had all the extra footage including the "fairytale ending", going above the shield, brenda's death etc and ran over 100 minutes. Then I saw the official version of the Quickening released here in the uk and thought "hang on a minute...theres sh*tloads missing".

To make things worse i have possessed the workprint TWICE and i so wish now i had kept at least one of them. I even scoured through my mums loft recently in a vain hope of finding it.....But im sorry to say....no joy!!!!! If anyone has a copy of this i would happily pay good money for it!!!!!!

So since learning of the different versions i have tried to get hold of as many as possible. So far i have 3. The Quickening version, The renegade version and the new "special edition". So when i came across this thread my ears pricked up and i became very excited. So I am certainly looking forward to seeing these new versions and adding them to my collection so i have been checking in everyday to see the progress. Also i look forward to chatting to some of you about this.

Bring them on!!!!!!!

Nightblade FV

Thanks for the kind words. And like I said, forget the workprint we restored that 100 minute version also. In order to create the extended Zesit version we had to restore the American Cut and the British workprint 100 min version. Also, we had to make master trasfers correcting aspect ratios, color correct, paint out scratches, rotoscope, audio filter/ cleaning, and do some major cleaning with the video. The result will be amazing atleast to us!! ;-), This is why it took over a year and almost a half to complete.

The DVD's are finshed!

I am going to upload them somewhere very shortly!

The Special Zeist Edition will be first becuase it's single layer, followed by the DL Extended Zeist in a few days after that!

Sorry! We want to make sure there are no problems with the release when you download them somewhere!

Special Zeist Ediion will be the one everyone will want to see (thats interested) It combines the several versions to create an updated Zeist Edition of the Special Edition. Allin glourious 2:35.1

Soon! Sorry for the hours away before, we had problems with the menu and decided to go just wth a static menu on the Special Zeist Edition. But, the Extended Zeist is full on DL with tons of extras that we promised, so don't wory!!

We re just happy to be done with Highlander II after more than a year, lookng forward to getting on with the next project.

David Lynch's - DUNE - The Third Stage Edition (Released)
Time
This project has been put on hold for anyone that was interested.
We are trying to get the best versions available to do this.

We are working on completion of another project that was put on hold earlier. The project that we are working onis a little less time consuming and frankly we needed a break after the Halloween 5, Highlander II restorations and edits and DVDs, geesh!!!!! (which took over a year to complete)

Status: DUNE: TBA
but it will happen

Close Encounters - edit? (Released)
Time
I recorded a version of of TCM years ago, it has a guy at the start of the film stating that/ "this is for the first time shown the original version restored of the 1977 classic, Close Encounters"

Now is this the original "original" or the criterion originalwith the small special edition scene and with special edition effects? Is there anyone that can tell me how I can tell the difference?

Thanks

Thanks! Wow that was a cool song ;-)

The Extended Zeist Edition is finally done and ready for release.
Final specs shortly!
We are now working on finishing The Special Zeist Edition which shouldn't take to long.

I am not sure where it will be released, possibly demonoid? Not to sure if it is going to get released at fanedit.org at this point.

But I assure you it will get released somewhere!

No, like I said, I got my first copy of the Encore Waterworld on DVD from you.

The copy I'm circulating now I got from a different trade, not sourced from you.

I was trying to say that my source Tape is a better source then the one I sent you, I didn't know much about tranfers back then, and yes it was a good trade, I got a lot form you. Thanks ;-)

Wow, I had no idea you did a special effects job & extended it (i'd assume you used the greenscreen footage from the SE DVD?)
This is even better! (It will be branchable as well yes?)

The deleted scenes we cleaned up and put back together.

The deleted scenes wil have no seemless branching option.

We did a rough cut which inlcuded the restored delete scenes and all of the cannes footage outtakes. However, it just doesn't work and we had no idea where some of the footage went. We tried to use the script but as you know Highlander was sort of a work in progress, they shot scenes as they went on.

So in this extended version we used only the released material, not the deleted footage. Most of the deleted footage was outtakes that made no sense anyway's. There is one scene in the delted scenes secion I wanted to restore to this DVD but we decided not to (it was the scenes regarding that his thought have turned to Zeist and his friend Rameriz), watch the deleted scenes section on the SE DVD to see what I am saying. I thought that scene added some much needed clarification to the movie, but this is not really a fan cut.

Peace

still cannot wait to see this 'kind of magic'!

also, this one will have the fairytale ending correct? Its going to have an option for watching it with it? I personally love the fairytale one, so i'm naturally really happy to have it either way.

Yes! It has the fairytale ending as an option (seemless branching)

And in the supplements section it has the restored Extended Fairytale ending with effects we created just for this version.

I hope you enjoy!

Info: FanFiltration Update {I'm not dead YET} - new projects...
Time
Thank god your alive!

If it wasn't for you my friend and the sound work you did on Highlander II we wouldn't have been able to have the Restored Early Highlander II cut done so soon! (BTW!! you have a credit on the Early Cut release for your work)

Fanfiltration is truely a class act. He took the time out of his busy schedule a year and a half ago to help with the Highlander project.

Again, without he, the Highalnder cut would have taken longer complete it.

This guy knows what he's doing!

Hey! Fanfiltration? someday I might get that press kit, eey! wink!

Thanks again,

Peace my friend!!

ASH is right on top of things!!!! I don't know why it is refered to as the French theatrical, it's the French DVD released version of the American cut, not the actuall theatrical released version. The French TFI company was not that smart!
However, it's the only way you'lll see the American widescreen of the film ( small postitive, lol!)

Thanks ASH!!!

BTW!! You'll like the restored early version we finsished last year, it may bring back memories.

This project seems awesome. I was wondering if the two theatrical versions (The American and British) are available anywhere.

Thanks in advance

The theatrical French version is hard to find and has a flawed soundtrack mix (which we have fixed) It was released by TFI, I think Amazon France had it but no longer carries it!
The Fullscreen version of the American release is widely available on amazon.com (but I don't recommend it, it is has horrible color, picute, sound and just about everything else!)
The full unrated R-18 British Cut is not available, only in bootlegs my friend! Thus is the reason parts of this extended edit are in fullscreen. Trust us, we would have loved to have a wdescreen 2:35.1 British Cut.

I think a few people in this thread have the french theatrical.
We had to restore all of them first to make this version, this is the reason why this has taken over a year to complete. You can't just piece a film together without all the elements being similar in quality.

Thanks again for the questions and interest. ;-)

Trust me I am excited about this release.

We did create a rough cut that has all the deleted scenes from the SE DVD included in this version but it just didn't work. Deleted scenes are cut for a reason, lol! You'll see this version uses elements that all have been released on film or DVD. Yes, in different forms or versions (ie: British Cut, Jap Cut, etc.) but all released in some form over the years.
