.....the colour balance is tilted slightly to the red spectrum, making people look like they have bad sunburns at times.

That's not surprising, considering that the laserdiscs have a slight reddish cast as well. I'm curious to know how the DVDs look in direct comparison to the LDs.

I think they will be released in the 2007 set, and I think we'll see anamorphic versions this time.

I think this whole "bonus material" crap is a test, and the way Lynne Hale's response is so carefully worded ("The 1993 Laserdisc masters represented the best source for providing the original versions as DVD bonus material"), leads me to believe that they will have new transfers done of the OOT as non-bonus material .

These DVDs will sell very well, and George Lucas is too greedy not to cash-in on selling us the OOT all over again, and he can't do that without new anamorphic transfers. His cash-cow is running out of milk and he doesn't have a whole hell of a lot left to sell us.

Yes, the new DVDs will have the original soundtrack (or, at least the soundtrack that was done for the 1993 laserdisc set) but the 1997 Special Edition soundtrack changes will be gone.

I don't understand why they did that- if they were going to commit to the "no-'episode IV' crawl", why didn't they use the vintage logos for the discs?

Yeah, I didn't notice that back in 1997, but one of my eagle-eye friends did. I assumed they would fix that for the DVD- but I guess not.

I don't like that they used Jedi footage in ESB- it wasn't necessary and it just doesn't fit......and yes I noticed how many of the shots on Hoth were 'blue', there's quite a few scenes on dagobah that look blue as well.

I also don't care for the way they did the new Emperor scene- the makeup doesn't look right.

It just looks like they messed with the brightness/black level to get rid of the garbage mattes, and lost much of the starfield in the process.

Fixed the swapped surrounds in the rear channels, too.

I think they're going to have the same tin here in the US.
Hmmm....what are 'bonus features and content?' Is that in addition to what's already on the DVDs, or is it something exclusive to the tin set?

I saw that too- I never noticed it before either. When you look at still-frames like that, there are going to be a lot of flaws you see that just aren't noticeable when the image is moving.

Sometimes, I think it's just better not to look at those at all.

Yeah, I remember my Aunt in Connecticut had the Luke glass- but I'm pretty sure it said Burger King on it. I grew up in Nevada in the 1970's, but I don't remember any Burger Chefs out there either.

That's cool. I've seen those SW posters, and the glasses that came out as well. They had the same designs on them as the posters. I don't recall ever seeing the ESB posters- they look nice. I've never seen a Burger Chef restaurant, though.
