So, this is how the DVDs are going to look...

I can't access MF.com from work either. Anyway, the clips I uploaded over there are in xVid format and look better than they probably are in the real world. One thing that you can't see from the Star Wars clips is the telecine wobble, which is quite distracting. There's a lot of grain, and many, many film artefacts.

Is the telecine wobble worse than on the LDs? It shouldn't be.

Poll: Do You Think the OUT will be Released Again in '07?
Time
I think they will be released in the 2007 set, and I think we'll see anamorphic versions this time.

I think this whole "bonus material" crap is a test, and the way Lynne Hale's response is so carefully worded ("The 1993 Laserdisc masters represented the best source for providing the original versions as DVD bonus material"), leads me to believe that they will have new transfers done of the OOT as non-bonus material .

These DVDs will sell very well, and George Lucas is too greedy not to cash-in on selling us the OOT all over again, and he can't do that without new anamorphic transfers. His cash-cow is running out of milk and he doesn't have a whole hell of a lot left to sell us.

Selectable crawl on new DVD? Or just the old one?

But the earlier editions were made from totally different film transfers. A brand-new transfer was done just for the DC set (and later re-used for the Faces set). No previous editions used that transfer.

The Blob!

I saw that too- I never noticed it before either. When you look at still-frames like that, there are going to be a lot of flaws you see that just aren't noticeable when the image is moving.

Sometimes, I think it's just better not to look at those at all.

There's a whole thread about the changes, BTW here.
