We really need someone like Roger Ebert though. He once called Disney out on their practice of cropping Snow White and other pre-widescreen classics to fit modern theater screens, and they listened. Subsequent reissues were pillarboxed.

Has he ever weighed in on the special editions? I can't recall if he ever reviewed them...
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I sent an email to Roger Ebert once, several years ago (about something unrelated to SW) but I got a reply.

I don't recall if I ever sent him an email about the SW debacle, but I know I sent one to Leonard Maltin about it- he replied but seemed resigned to the idea that George only does what he wants to do, blah, blah, so I don't think he'd be of any help.

A lot of people seem to like dark_Jedi's burns of the g-force script, though I have very serious reservations about them for their detail and grain removal and would not recommend them for this reason.

I think if you watched them in their entirety you would be pleasantly surprised. AFAIK G-force was very cautious/conservative with any grain removal (even on the older scripts).

Do you like having that music there?  I think the scene is improved by it--otherwise something just isn't quite right.  The music adds emotional resonance, and I don't know why they decided to get rid of it, but I'd understand if some folks didn't want it there, since no 'real' version of the movie had it.
I definitely like having it as an option, since the music was composed for that scene. I guess I'm more used to the scene without it of course, but I like having the choice of which version to listen to.

but fixing the music-editing mistakes in ESB would be great. That would be my one suggestion.

I have no experience in audio editing, so if you have a link to this audio already done I could add it.

Sorry! I was thinking about the music that was added to the Ben/Luke conversation in ROTJ, and forgot that someone else (hairy_hen?) did that.

So you are not interested in hairy_hens new 70mm mix, or the 5.1 upmix of hairys new mix?

also give me ideas for all 3, or I could just keep them the same as what they are already.

As I said several posts back, I love what you did with the audio for all of these, but fixing the music-editing mistakes in ESB would be great. That would be my one suggestion.

Just wanted to let anyone know who's interested that I am doing a version 3 of all 3 films, and want to know what audio files people would be interested in having included.

I am ditching the subs because I have no idea why they turned red on me, or how to change them back to what they are supposed to be, so ditching subs altogether.

I'm actually thrilled with what you did with the audio on the current versions- but fixing the music cues on Empire would be great.

What other changes are you considering? (besides making the yellow subs white?) Will you be using a newer version of G-force's script?

G-Force's script obviously is cleaner looking, but IMO it's too clean. It looks like video from some of the shots I've seen, I don't feel like I am watching a film from the 1970s..
This may be a silly question, but does that mean you haven't seen G-Force's SW in it's entirety? (either Dark_Jedi's version or some other version that used one of G-Force's scripts?)

I'm a female (most everyone here already knew this, though). ;-)

Alright... let's hear your side now.  What's it like being the Star Wars girl?

Am I the only one? I thought there were a few more lurking around here. ;-)

My experiences here have been very positive- this is really the only place I express my SW fanaticism since I don't go to conventions or anything like that. I don't know that many other SW fans in 'real life'. My nephew is a big fan, and he's actually the one that sort of got me started (he's 8 years younger than me- and his birthday is May 25th!) I used to work with some guys who liked SW as well, and we'd have fun sometimes testing each others SW knowledge with trivia, etc.
