So, maybe I'll be the only one- but I don't care, I'm doing it anyway. It would be better if we all did it, though. "Hanging onto" your bootlegs isn't going to do any good. We need to make a statement here- thousands of unwanted SE discs pouring into the LFL offices!
You can write F**K YOU, GEORGE! on your DVDs with a sharpie if you like.
Who's with me?!
BTW, I've just re-sent all of my protest emails to Jim Ward, John Singh and Lynne Hale, and I'm going to forward them to Roger Ebert (who may still be in the hospital) and Leonard Maltin as well.

video being, relating to, or used in the transmission or reception of the television image.
Don't DVD players transmit a television image? I guess their lawyers didn't have a dictionary. LOL!

That's interesting...I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

*ahem* Did they pass this button out there? "Bonus Feature", eh?

I love this part:
KURTZ: .....I just don't like changing whatever a film is like when it's finished – good, bad, or indifferent, that's the way it was it released and the way the audience perceives it. To keep fiddling with it, long after the fact... Jean Renoir said in a documentary interview that we did with him when we were all film students, that something that he learned from his father was that, for an artist, the most important thing is to know when you're done, and leave it. Of course for a painter, it's absolutely crucial, because you put too much extra paint on and you've ruined the painting. With a filmmaker, you have a certain amount of recourse and you can change it again, but the principle is still the same – to know when you're done, and when it's over, and when it's finished – and you walk away. It's critical, because you can be like Kubrick, and you can work on it forever, and it's still not going to get any better.
IGNFF: At least one can say Kubrick didn't go back 25 years later and add a scene to Dr. Strangelove.
KURTZ: No, he didn't; or 2001, or any of those early films. He at least accepted that they were finished, and that was it.
IGNFF: And wouldn't allow others to tinker with them, either.
KURTZ: No.

LOL! That's a riot- I noticed the Rancor matte lines as well.

You can STILL see through the cockpit in ESB? I thought they fixed that. They made such a big deal out of it.
That's a very interesting site, BTW. I've only seen one other site that shows the subtle "censoring" of the laser blast impacts on their intended victims. I have to say I prefer the Jabba from the 1997 SE, to the one on the 2004 DVD- he looks horrible! (IMO) I also prefer the colors of the binary sunset from the OOT than from the '97 or '04 versions.
There will never again be a "definitive" version of these films as long as GL is alive. As computer effects improve, the films will be updated every 5 or 10 years. Enough is enough already.

Apart from the idiotic censorships of Tom and Jerry, there is also the situation of the producers of shows like Northern Exposure and Quantum Leap whod don't want to buy the original music. We'll probably never see proper release of those. The recent Justice League season 2 set was released in widescreen after a massive letter writing campaign, but not anamorphic. After complaints, future sets will be 16:9. Why can't I just watch things the way the they were originally presented in high quality on DVD? Is that too much to ask?

That sucks about NE - that show used great music! I remember the one where they used the Lindsey Buckingham track ("D.W. Suite" - I think it was called)

Sucks about AG too!

I have two reels of each movie, but they're all labelled pretty similar. Ken Films, Selected scenes, 17 minutes, Colour Sound, Super 8. The Star Wars have the codes F-64 and F48 on them, ESB F-63 and F-64. Dows anyone know if they contain the smae footage?

I know that there were 2 different Ken Films Super-8 versions of ESB, each having different scenes (talking about the long versions- not the short). I think there were also 2 different versions of Star Wars.

Besides, during a Daily Planet meeting, Perry White even says 'is that a new suit?' and tells his Fashion editor to get on the story, which I thought was a nice touch. At least in this film we actually see Clark remove his clothes to reveal the suit ubderneath, instead of just 'fading' into it like in the old movies.
I thought Superman looked pretty damn cool in this film.

There were a few shots in the original Chris Reeve films that show him removing his clothes, revealing his costume underneath.
The new costume does look like the 'bad' Superman costume from Superman III, though!

They didn't change the Spiderman costume, did they?
I noticed in the new "Spidey 3" trailer that they're using that black and white costume (for Spidey's "alter") that they came up with about 20 years ago when they tried to change Spidey's "look" for the comic book. It didn't last very long. LOL.
