I hate to keep belaboring this question but where would you find such an HDTV version?

On a HD channel on tv? 😉 Recordings are all over the interwebs, google and you shall find.

To be fair, the release of 2011 BDs essentially erased the 2004 HD from the public interwebs. Pirates don’t generally care about anything but the latest, which is problematic for preservationists.

There far from erased from Rutracker and Usenet.

OK then, so maybe not all over, but still available from here and there.

Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

Harmy, now that you’ve finally found some time to start tinkering with Jedi 2.0; will you try to take up ESB 2.5 as well, or is it on definite hold untill Jedi is finished? Those last screens posted in this thread looked very promising!

And was there ever a comprehensive to-do list posted for 2.5? As life goes on, and one tends to forget stuff, I had to take myself a trip back in time reading lots of old posts in this thread. I realized that I deleted v2.0 because 2.5 was just around the corner at one moment. Something about frames messing with audio-sync and typos in the credits. Then I assume it went out of hand as more 35mm footage was made available.

You havn’t forgotten that floor panel aboard the Executor that was lightened in the SE, I hope? 😉 Just realized that I’ve been a member for almost 9 years, and spotting that floor panel is still my greatest(only?!) contribution in the preservation/reconstruction of the OT…

As always, keep up the good work!

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

I seem to recall that tiny lightbulbs where used inside Palpatines hood to make his eyes glow. The lightsbulbs themselves would be visible by accident as he was moving his head and was therefore covered by a black traveling matte.

Probably they were much less apparent in theaters compared to home-video formats.

Can't remember if I ever saw a screengrab of it in Team -1's thread though..

Keep up the good work Harmy!

well who said fixing problems affects the true story of starwars? i wasnt saying add stuff i was only suggesting to maybe fix certain things in the original movie eventually. lets face it theres lots of incorrect problems with the visuals in the original trilogy.

You can't fix stuff in the original movie because then it wouldn't be the original anymore. Period.

Btw, are there also correct problems besides those incorrect problems..?

Just had another look at the comparison gallery:

https://plus.google.com/photos/109609428403596349302/albums/6044645069501365185/6044645222210889458?pid=6044645222210889458&oid=109609428403596349302

I noticed that the middle "tile" beneath Vader was darker in the gout.

May have been discussed before, if so I apologize :P

Of all the GOUT upscales the ones that stick out like sore thumb for me are the unzoomed shots of the Falcon's cockpit, pretty sure those are priority number 1 as far as 35mm scans go for you.

I must admit that i havn't seen these scenes in motion yet, but was it that bad? Thought it looked very seamless in the pics a least.

We will work something out with Harmy once we get more details about our prints, and also when he figures out what sections.

Most likely:

--------------

- Lapti Nek dance scene
- Sarlacc pit
- Ending sequence

Team Negative1

And the original Rancor-compositing with those lovely matte-lines i hope! ;)
