Editing with After Effects?

"If you just had a software version of it you must have downloaded it. Bad MeBeJedi, Bad!"

LOL, I know, I know. Everyone kept telling me how great it was, and I loaded it up to see what it could do, but to be honest, I just never tried to do anything with it. Vegas has done everything I've ever asked of it, so I really done need or feel like learning a whole new system. At this point, it'll just slow me down and keep me from finishing the stuff I need to get done (Silverwook, you and my older sister in Missouri are at the top of my list. )

Hell, I just found out that Vegas lets me make an AVI with an Alpha channel for transparency. That's going to make a lot of cool stuff much easier to do.

[EDIT] Is it just me, or are the ads on these pages context-sensitive? That's pretty slick!

Info: Matrix Universe - Question to the Crowd...

"Re-listen to the Architect's speech at the end of M2. You can almost see what I just said."

I get what you are saying, but it's a cheap plot device. Dreams within dreams within dreams (or realities within realities) gets old, and allows the writer to ignore rules that he has already established. The Matrix followed all its own rules. Everything was thrown out the window after that.

Besides, very few movies successfully use the dreams-within-dreams scenario. The Thirteenth Floor immediately comes to mind, but again - it follows established rules throughout the film. No cheats were used.

"I would like to see the agents at the end of the Matrix as a deep brown almost black silouhette with an orange outline like how the programs are represented in the sequels."

With all due respect, the first Matrix is perfect. I wouldn't touch it. Like the Prequels, the sequels should match the original film.

"The first Matrix will be untouched. I find it to be a nearly perfect movie."

LOL....I had already typed my response from the first page, and was pleased to see this on page two.

"The worst problem is that the second movie lacked any real subtext. The third at least attempted to incorporate religious allusions to the story like the original. The second is just a mindless thrill ride and little else."

Agreed. It was all setup.

Info: Matrix Universe - Question to the Crowd...

"Dunno, just show me the results."

LOL....not that I voted yet.

I started having issues with Reloaded when Neo apparently had powers outside the Matrix - i.e. stopping the Sentinels. If this was the case, what was the point with having the Matrix, itself? Having superpowers inside was easily explained, but now he was a mortal who was actually a God - big difference there. How on Earth was the Matrix able to create a God? This made no sense, and was completely unnecessary on top of that.

So to answer your question: I don't know, but I doubt it.

I am reminded of the main character in Dark City who developed the same powers as the aliens, but that's a very different scenario.

Anyways, the other issue I had was everyone asking each other questions, to which they apparently already had the answers, and yet nothing was ever made clear. This kind of internal, hidden logic really showed how little depth the films had in and of themselves, despite the use of archetypes.

"I wonder if it's an increased dynamic range that makes the LD sound so good?"

I think it was the effort that went into LD, considering what people were paying for the LD discs - $50-$80.

Think about the early DVDs that came out, and what was included on them. Hell, even today, things such as "interactive menus" and "subtitles" are still listed as "extras". Many DVDs simply had LD transfers put on them, or had the player default to the PCM soundtrack rather than AC3. Whereas LD was a cornucopia of film material, DVDs were catering to the "lowest common denominator".

I still recall how many people complained about "The Matrix" and "Phantom Menace" being in widescreen only.

"Laserdiscs aren't compressed AT ALL. That's what makes them sound great."

But the PCM might be remixed for the DVD, hence not of good quality.

That being said, when I watch my "Young Guns" DVD, the PCM soundtrack is much fuller and has better surround placement than the AC3 soundtrack.

"DVD mixes are often re-equalized so as not to stress feeble home theater setups."

And I don't know if this is done anymore (I don't have DTS), but many DTS/DD discs did not allow you to switch between the two audio tracks during the film, for fear of "spiking your speakers". Again, lowest common denominator.

"All we need is a copy of the DTS audio discs from the 97 film releases and we're in business."

Hayden Christensen wins Razzie for ROTS

And don't forget - Lucas deliberately picked unknowns who could act for the OT (for the main roles, at least). For the PT, he picked very famous people, and toned them down.

"Case in point he looked like a joke in "Shattered Glass" opposite Peter Sarsgaard who probaly is the best actor right now."

How fair is this? You put him up against an actor whom you say is the best, and then say "see how bad he is!"? Now, I'm not a huge HC fan, but that's a rather biased comparison to put anyone in, though for the record - I thought he did a great job in "My Life as a House". If he had been able to show that level of anger earlier on in AOTC, I think Anakin's character would have been much more believable, tragic, and........well, "dark" - as he should have been.

EW's 25 Worst Sequels Ever Made
Time
"That and 4698 put me offically back on the top ten"

That much closer to bumping AWK off the list. May sugarplums dance in your head for that.

"Does Men In Black 2/II deserve to be on the worst sequels list?"

Yes. They didn't even try. That movie was a tired rehash of the best jokes of the original, and it succeeded in not making them funny the second time around.
