End of SE ROTJ...
Time
"The only reason GL needed to devise this whole 'retaining one's identity in the Force' BS is because he had the stupidity to show Qui-Gon's body after his death."

Actually, the only reason he needed this whole 'retaining one's identity in the Force' BS is because he killed off Obi-wan in ANH, and then wanted to bring him back in ESB.

"Prior to the PT, all Jedi were SUPPOSED to disappear when they died, Lucas just stuffed it up. No BS explanations required. Case closed."

Actually, prior to the PT, Lucas rewrote the events on ROTJ, stating that Anakin's body eventually disappeared from the armor, and Luke was dragging the empty armor on board.

"This would indicate that A) Not every Jedi knew the 'trick' yet"

The fact that we only see Obi-wan's ghost in ANH should be proof of that, not to mention Vader's insistence in ESB that Obi-wan could no longer help him.

"We shouldn't have to turn to books and other resources to find out stuff that we should've learned in the movie itself."

Agreed as well.

Well, a lot of cleaned-up scenes wouldn't benefit from that layout, because a good 90% of the fixes being made are tiny drop-outs. The resolution of each video would have to be significantly reduced to play both in their entirety on the screen. A splitscreen with each video talking up half the space would be much better.

Different scenes require different amounts of work. The Lars scenes are difficult because there's little bits of stuff amongst other little bits of stuff - some belong, some don't. Maybe I'll try to find my original clean up and put up a comparison shot.

Other shots are easier - the "committee" scene with Vader, Tarkin and all the Moffs has a couple of dropouts, but they are white against the black background of the chamber, making them easy to spot and fix. On the Faces set, the first scene of R2 in the Jawa valley and the gang overlooking Mos Eisley have rolling dropouts, meaning I have to track their downward movement on successive frames.

Now, the DC may not have these same problems, or may have them in different areas. I've not gone over this transfer frame by frame to the same length yet, so I'm just taking it as it comes, but one thing's for sure - these problems actually become more pronounced by the X0 player (meaning problems in the LD mastering become much more visible.) Ironically, while it makes them more visible, it also makes them easier to find.

I'd certainly like to have ANH well done by Christmas, but I make no promises.

Hayden Christensen wins Razzie for ROTS
Time
"In these and many other cases, the performances of the actors are taken completely out of their original context. The actors could be following their directions to a T, and be giving the performance of their life, but if the scene is later drastically altered to create a new, unintended scene, then the performances suffer at the whim of the director."

For the side angle shot of the mask lowering onto Anakin face, it was actually a composite since Hayden Christensen had already been photographed in Sydney separately a year earlier. - STAR WARS HOMING BEACON - 2006-03-16 - Issue #157

I rest my case.

A new chip that could end the HD-DVD / Blu-ray battle before it even begins?!?!

"leading many to suggest that the only manufacturers that will really get burned in the format war will be the companies that started it, Sony and Toshiba"

Good. Now maybe they'll hammer out a truly universal disc. This royalty crap gets old after awhile. It'll sell, guys - and there will be more than enough spoils to divy up later.

LOL..thanks, guys. I was sure everyone would laugh at me for even thinking about taking on this undertaking again.

There's another segment that we've been debating about showing. I call it "6 seconds", because that's how long the scene is, filmwise. Total correction time, however, is well over 15 minutes.

" I jsut saw X0 footage!!!!!!!!!!"

Well, through my camcorder. Future showings may be done with screen-cap software for easier viewing.

BTW, anybody like the music? Anybody recognize it?
