"All my life, I'd thought that, "I can't stay with you," meant, "I have to leave." But instead, it means, "My ship can't keep up with your ship anymore," and that makes a lot more sense. It also makes Luke's line, "You can't do any more good back there," make more sense."
He still could have fallen back, and taken out a Tie from behind. It's not like they followed him out of the trench. Hell, Vader probably thought it was done on purpose to draw fighters away (which, I might add, worked later in ROTJ.)
"As for Wedge replacing Han in the trench attack, I'm all for it. It's always bothered me how Solo, unprovoked, fires on Vader. It makes him seem like a murdering pirate instead of the patient, tolerant, friendly hero that he is."
LOL...shooting from behind, I might add. Hell, he even enjoyed shooting down the Tie. Such a brigand!
"You're no better than the people who come to this board and ruffle our feathers."
Although I completely understand what Cable X-1 feels like doing, I have to agree with this sentiment. I hope the irony of Kev posting right after that post isn't lost on anybody.
Cable X-1, prove you are far better than folks like JediRandy, who have so much hatred for the "other side" (in this case, bashers), that he can't help but follow those he hates across the internet. Believe me, I went through my own "get all my usernames banned" from TF.n, and now I'm happy just to let them wallow in their own filth.
"while it is company policy (AOL is well known for not letting (giving people a hard time) people cancel their account) if that is an accurate transcript he took it way to far. Company policy or not, there's gotta be some point where you're just like, 'ok, sorry you're not happy with our service. we regret that we can't make it better for you, thank you. we will cancel your account' or something along those lines. and the reps need to use their head more in those situations."
Uh, yeah. This went on for well over 20 minutes, and I've heard portions that weren't on the regular news channel (not quite the whole thing, though), but from what I heard, this sales rep had serious issues. He was not interested in keeping the dude's business. He was taking it personally, and just trying to keep the customer going. It was a power play, pure and simple.
Even if it was ours (I'm in no mood to download a 700MB(?) file which is probably bogus), I don't think our timecoded version had any corrections, anyways. Worst case, it's a low-res, downconverted, uncorrected DivX version with timecode. Good luck making a decent transfer from that. LOL!
Personally, I know I was rather distracted watching the "timecoded" release of ROTS, and that was nowhere near as bad as this, so I won't lose sleep over it.
"Leia gets shot down while making a run for it in the opening of A New Hope (it was only a stunner shot but it probably still gave her a headache) and then in Return of the Jedi Leia gets shot in the arm during the Endor battle. Although Han, Luke, Chewbacca, and even Lando take some abuse, they never get shot by the Storm Troopers. "
It's all about payback. They are gunning for her because, as you all should well know, she's the only main character in the SW films that doesn't miss what she's aiming at.
We're just not big on the SE on principle, and correcting the DC scenes to be accurate amongst themselves (frame-by-frame and scene-by-scene) will be time consuming enough in and of itself. Doing so between different releases/transfers is just a whole 'nother headache that we don't want to consider right now.
Keep in mind, also. Luke's focus - even from ANH - was on his father. Even if the PT was done as it should have been, Luke may not have had visions of his mother simply because he didn't think much of her.
I miss Howard. I was this close to buying a bootleg DVD on Ebay yesterday. Hell, I almost grabbed a copy of Damnation Alley because I was reminded of it in this forum, too.
[EDIT] It just occurred to me...since so many people on this website would have no problem owning a P&S version of one of the worst films ever, maybe that's why Lucas thought he could get away with an old-school transfer of the OOT.
"6 seconds", despite its name, is actually going to be a very long download. People looking for flash and pizazz are probably going to be disappointed. I seriously doubt that even the most interested fans will watch it more than once. Nonetheless, it's a great way to look over my shoulder and watch the correction process of a single 6-second scene from beginning to end (which took longer around 15 minutes.) I added music to make it a little more interesting, but the process itself takes place in a very quiet office (save for the many fans of my two computers.) Sometimes, you may not even be able to see exactly what I'm fixing, because I'm looking at pin-prick sized glitches, or very faint "splotches", and the camera is too far back to show you what I'm doing.
No, though the biggest reason for not doing this is that we would need captures of those LDs as well, and that may not be an easy thing to get, since it is not our LD player.
The Xwing series was great. I just finished Final Prophecy, but I can't find my hardbound Unifying Force that I bought a year ago, so I guess I'll have to rebuy it (the paperback, that is. )
"You do realize that this pretty much describes, like, 90% of all filmmakers ever."
As much as I like M. Knight's films, I will say that it's kinda...i dunno...disappointing to know that I have to wait until the end of the film for everything to click into place (assuming I haven't figured it out already). Not that I don't like his twists, but the wait for the twist has become predictable, if that makes any sense. One of the reasons I really liked The Village was that there was so much going on in terms of character development and cinematography, that I was distracted from the "how is this going to end" mindset. I'm also a big fan of all the main characters in that film, so that certainly helped.
Damn, that was pretty good. A lot of subtle stuff there. BTW, Lobot's eyes weren't the only ones that were "altered".
The only flaw I saw/heard - the "bang" of Han's carbonite as it hit the floor was off. Other than that, I was really into this. Hell, the scenes with Lando looking at the casing were pretty cool.
