That's probably real.....the guy in the background on the left is trying to yell something.

As to the runner seeing her....he's probably totally focused on the finish line - "in the zone", so to speak. These guys practice the "perfect run" over and over for several years.

[EDIT]

I'll bet I knew what he was thinking when he saw her, though: http://www.digitalend.com/pics/forumpics/asian_baby01.jpg

Remember what Lucas said about the OOT not existing....?

Just had the following reply from the British Film Institute regarding their copies of the original version of Star Wars:

"Thanks for your message about the STAR WARS films that has been passed over to us in the BFI's Curatorial Unit.

I certainly agree with you that the original versions of the STAR WARS films are as worthy of preservation as the altered reissues that came later. Indeed, the BFI's National Film and Television Archive is permanently preserving prints of all three of the films as they originally appeared, and also holds video material that reflects these original versions.

I am unaware of any plans to screen these prints currently, but I hope you are assured that these versions are secure for the future.

I hope that this information proves useful to you."

So they are "currently preserving prints" - this is heartening news indeed. At least someone/group is doing this as Lucasfilm obviously have their hands tied by Mr Lucas himself. A shame these preserved films will most likely never be allowed a screening, but at least a professional body is engaged in the preservation of the original trilogy!! :-)

Cheers,

- John

LOL....keep talking it up, Lucas.

"However, and this may be strange yet bizarre idea, nothing is to stop people from taking their projectors and showing it to say private party I think, not a con. In fact I think we should go for a national screening day, a con of any sort would raise the hackles of LFL. Unless we do something that is completely unannouned and spontaneous and unadvertisd during the middle of an existing con like Dragon Con."

Agreed.

"A 35mm print is a different deal- since 35mm prints have never been sold by LFL, they are all still the property of LFL and if you own one- it's stolen, so you're breaking the law simply by possessing it."

Perhaps a good reaason why Lucas has such a hard-on for digital distribution.

"And yes, movie theaters rent movie prints, then are supposed to return them when they're finished with them."

Same goes for the big cardboard displays. LFL expects those back as well (as do other studios.)

"In the Criterion version, not to mention the Special Edition and the eventual Director's Cut "Collector's Edition," the audience doesn't see Roy creating a model train set mountain before they see him sculpt a mashed-potato mountain.
Anyone who saw the film in '77 recalls the joke being that Roy simply can't stop sculpting that mountain. In the revised versions, including the Criterion, the mashed potatoes is the first thing Roy is seen sculpting."

My parents always missed this scene when CE3K was shown on TV. They loved watching him pull up dirt, trees and fencing from the neighbor's yards. LOL!

"why does this guy remind me of OCP's rants when the news first broke?"

This isn't even close. That was a record-breaker.

"I think Duel is available in Europe. Heheh, if you have a region-free player, I think you can get it through Amazon UK. Maybe."

It's available in the US. Is there a different version here?

"What? I'm totaly confused"

I got it.

"If Luca$hFilm will allow private screenings of the OOT......where the OOT could be shown on the big screen and you could have guests, seminars, etc.?"

You've just stated the opposite of what you would want, and no, LFL won't allow it. They've denied such showings of privately held prints many, many times.

Update: Blade Runner Dvd

All of which were taken from the same master, correct? I think that, with him back in the chair, they'll do one to put "from James Cameron, director the action-packed Hollywood Blockbuster _____ ______." Fox knows an anamorphic release would sell. I'm sure that we'll see one eventually. But maybe I'm wrong.

Cameron has overseen each transfer. He prefers the non-anamorphic (though not because it's non-anamorphic.)

"In any case, Ingo Sucks (who is Ingo, anyway, and why does he suck?), you would have a much better reception here if you actually contributed some content to the forums that didn't consist of asking for stuff."

While starting new threads for such material does get a little annoying, not everyone on these boards has the ability to create OT material. Some people are simply fans who want the old OT. I wonder if we'll see more or less of such folk after the '06 DVDs come out.

Since there's nothing to really indicate who should be notified for copies (such as Rikter), it's not that easy to figure out unless you post here for awhile, and not all SW fans are long on patience.

[EDIT]

(BTW, Ingo. You should contact Rikter.)
