Info Wanted: Digitally Remastered Original Trilogy preservation set?!?! (on ebay)
Time
"I played around with upmixing a surround 2.0 track into 5.1 but had problems with the rear channels, basically it involves putting the 2.0 through WinDVD's Dolby Pro-Logic audio processing to end up with 6 mono audio tracks (except the sub track is empty, easy to create though from the 2.0 source) which you then mux into an AC3 file, the problem I had was that I couldn't get it to do Pro-Logic II where the rear surround channels are different, I was getting Pro-Logic I results where the rear channels are identical - my A/V reciever does Pro-Logic II upmixing better anyway so at that point I gave up trying to create 5.1 from 2.0. "

That's almost what I did, except that I used Graphedit to split up the 2.0 into 6 channels, precisely because it *did* do Pro-Logic II decoding. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on it.

"Anyway, I think this is an awesome project and I am definitely interested in it. I may even abandon my own project because I don't have the money to buy additional equipment right now."

As I've told a few other people via PM, don't give up your own project. You can learn some valuable stuff in the process, regardless of the quality. I still like to look at my previous version, even though it'll be sorely overshadowed by this new transfer.

"Dual Layer Discs for Superb Picture and Quality"

Considering the number of extras he's got on each disc, that's not likely. It's kinda funny, since less than 15 minutes ago, Rikter and I were saying that the only good use of a DL disc at this point in time is to put a film and extras on each disc.

And digitally remastered, my butt. Digitally tweaked, perhaps, but that's about it.

I'm curious to know how he made his 5.1 soundtrack. I seriously doubt he put any of the work into it that I did.

Eh, at least he picked the artwork that I like the best.

Things you DID NOT like about Episode III
Time
Don't you mean "Gringo"?

"1. Why would Palpatine tell Vader he killed Padme? I just don't understand that."

As Palps said earlier, his anger focuses his power. Didn't you notice Palps smiling during this scene?

"I still think it would have been better if Padme had lived on so Leia could remember her."

I think it would have worked better if Padme had at least looked at Leia, instead of Luke.

"Cutting this line would have made it true that Anakin killed Padme."

In the film, it didn't matter if it were true - simply that Anakin believed it.

"#5) The voices of the battle droids and the Nemoidian in on Greivous' ship. Could they have been any less frightening?"

Agreed. They are battle droids, not protocol droids.

"Also, I was under the impression that the oil was spewing forth from the battle droid when R2 cut into it, and R2 Just used the shocker established in RotJ to ignite it."

Wrong on both counts. Note the "Oil slick arm compartment" on the upper right-hand side, and R2 most assuredly launched his rockets to ignite it.

FOX issuing takedown notices to Sith downloaders

"These people aren't victims ... they're criminals on a scale so large that they can make their own laws. Lucas certainly isn't a victim of downloading ... his movie is doing gangbusters! It's like feeling bad for the Sheriff of Nottingham while Little John gets slapped with a $5000 fine plus legal expenses."

And they have personally oppressed you........how? My desire to put the OOT on DVD stems from the fact that Lucas doesn't see fit to do so, but I don't turn this into a ridiculous scenario of oppression. I think we're a step away from calling Godwin's law here.

Download, or don't download, but don't give such one-sided "end of the world" reasoning to validate it. Lucas is no more the Sheriff of Nottingham than you are Robin Hood.

"or the grocery store is just greedy."

LOL
