I really love this image!

I really love this image!

Have you ever thought about recording new commentaries for your new Prequel edits? You originally didn’t do one for The Force Awakens until you did your third revision.
Okay, thanks, I’ll try revising the specifics of the cracking sound.
And if the fountain in the apartment is only in one or two of the front channels, I suppose it would be easy to introduce more gently. I’ll try it and see.
It’s an interesting idea for an edit of Episode III, but I think the scene worked well, even without the subtle sounds added.
Here’s a new version of this scene, with the music in much better shape. I used left and right channels to fill in the center whenever there is no dialogue or non-traffic foley, in order to only have one innocuous crossfade of the musical score. Sounds much better.

Wow! That sounds amazing!
I actually re-watched the ending of Revenge of the Sith, and I gotta say, John Williams’ score from Padmé’s funeral to Vader and Palpatine looking out over the Death Star is really well done, sounding very powerful and tragic. I was wondering if maybe you were going to adjust the music cue from the deleted scene with Yoda to the Star Destroyers in space. I do love the usage the used of Padmé surviving, but the transition from the scenes I just mentioned does feel a bit abrupt in Labyrinth of Evil. You could re-score the deleted scene of Yoda arriving on Dagobah, as it does sound like Yoda’s theme was thrown onto the scene for the DVD release of Episode III.
I gotta admit, the test clip of Anakin viewing the clones firing down on the Jedi is starting to grow on me in a pretty good way.
Where and who would exactly be saying “General Skywalker” in an edit of Episode III? It would seem a bit obvious that it’s added in if it’s a clone that says it. Temuera Morrison plays the clones in the movies, but Dee Bradley Baker voices them in the shows. The reason why adding Qui-Gon’s line into Hal’s edit worked is because of the placement, context, and that it actually was Liam Neeson’s voice too.
However, IDGAF about The Clone Wars, so there’ll be no “General Skywalker” or anything like that. (It’s just soooo ugly to watch.)
I understand what you mean, I’m not a huge fan of the animation style in The Clone Wars or Rebels myself either. The Clone Wars was also a very hit or miss show to myself as well.
Do you think that if you decided to use this, you’d have someone talented with visual effects add Anakin’s scar to the other side of his face?
Hmmm, try this one: https://vimeo.com/336120650
Pretty good, I’d say, Hal.
Here’s another attempt, with score from the soundtrack used to roughly sync with Anakin’s shot without getting unwanted sound effects.

I actually thought this attempt was even better. It flows much more nicely. Do you think that if you decided to use this, you’d have someone talented with visual effects add Anakin’s scar to the other side of his face?
Does Rey have deeper feelings for Finn? I thought that was a bit of a jealous look on her face when she saw him tending to Rose. What does she do with the Jedi Encyclopedia set? Is she going to try and turn Kylo away from the dark side again? Is her mental connection with him still strong with Snoke out of the picture? Is Snoke really truly dead?
Rey notwithstanding, how does the Rebellion rebuild when they’re down to one ship and so few people? Where the heck has Lando been all this time? Has Poe matured into a proper leader?
How does the First Order fare under Kylo’s leadership? Do Hux and others really ally themselves with him or are they looking to seize power at the right moment?
And most importantly of all, is the Falcon still infested with Porgs? A Wookiee’s got to eat. 😛
I believe that the trilogy has always had a story line between Rey and Kylo Ren. She wants him to turn back, but after he still doesn’t trust the Resistance and the Jedi, she leaves him. Her closing the Falcon’s door on him was a way of saying that he needs to find out where he truly belongs by himself. Only the, she will come out to him if he decides to come back to the Light.
Whatever happens to Rian Johnson’s trilogy, would everyone here like the idea of him directing the trilogy that Benioff and Weiss are producing and working on?
I think the shots should be flipped for dramatic effect if possible.
Yoda
Padme
Troopers
AnakinIt builds up the line from C3P0 telling Padme that Anakin came back to the temple. We think maybe he might have a change of heart only to be reminded of his darkness.
JEDIT: I can’t remember if LOE has the shot of Anakin marching up to the temple.
It did have the march sequence.
^ Fair; I posted a clip because I wasn’t sold on it myself. I finessed the audio to be fairly smooth, but the pacing of such a short two shots feels abrupt, even for ROTS.
I totally agree with you, still an interesting idea for people making their own edits of Revenge of the Sith.
Here’s a test of the idea for showing a closeup of Anakin looking over the slaughter in the Temple. Please take a careful listen to the audio if you can, and let me know what you think.

It’s an interesting concept and idea, but I don’t necessarily think it flows that great, and it does feel more like a fan edit.
Everyone has their own opinions, but I’m honestly starting to wonder if the effect and quality of the prequels put a bad taste in fans’ mouths for any future/modern Star Wars content.
Nah, it’s not the prequels fault, I believe. Those films have flaws in different departments. In a lot of ways the PT and ST are two sides of the same coin, where that coin is the OT. Both trilogies capture some of the good parts of the OT, but also miss essential elements in my view. While I think the PT has deeper valleys than the ST, I also feel the PT brought more new elements to the table, and greatly expanded the universe and its lore, while the ST thusfar seems stuck in the past, recycling too much of the OT to really be considered a new story. Additionally, the PT is part of one bigger story, whereas the ST in my view has struggled to supply reasons for its own existence in terms of the larger narrative beyond some entertainment values, and franchise extension. This will be TROS biggest challenge imo, supplying those connections, and bringing the nine part story full circle, such that the ST will not end up being merely an appendix to Lucas’ six film saga.
I still think the sequel trilogy is far superior than the prequels.

.
Taking advice from Mark Hamill, I see.
There’s going to be a V6! The impetus for this is the presence, to whatever figurative or literal degree, of Palpatine in Episode IX. Whether he’s found a way to ‘cheat death’ or it’s just a mirage, I think its worth including a bit of dialogue that hints at his interest in immortality in Episode III.
Changes for V6, planned and under consideration:
Reinstate “to create life” and “to cheat death…”
Move ‘plot to destroy the Jedi’ deleted scene to before Anakin coming in after missing a briefing
See about augmenting or removing Chewbacca
See about removing the droids from the birth of the twins
Consider reinstating Palpatine prompting Anakin to kill Dooku (still shortened; no “dew it”) (LOE, perhaps even moreso than ROTS, has a throughline of Palpatine manipulating Anakin and him suggesting Anakin kill Dooku is in keeping with this)
Really try to reincorporate some Yoda lines about failure, maybe even dialogue from Rebels
In order to do anything further about Chewbacca, I would need some visual FX help. It had been determined previously that it would be extremely difficult to remove his bandolier. I wonder if a second bandolier could be added, to imply its a different wookiee. Most of Chewbacca’s shots have been removed, though a few remain. Luckily (?) his face looks nothing like the Chewbacca of the OT and ST.
This one should be much easier, but I would love to have someone assist by removing R2 and 3PO from the birthing of the twins (and shot of them leaving the ship to follow Padme to the medical center). This would avoid R2 and Yoda’s only onscreen meeting before ESB.
I will attempt what I can to extend the scene with Yoda and Qui-Gon, but there’s really only one shot to work with. If anything else can be contrived visually to extend the scene plausibly, I would welcome ideas or FX shots. (Rear shot of Yoda with asteroids floating in the background?)
The dialogue for the scene could go something like this:Y: “Failed, I have.”
Q: “Yoda, my old friend… Do you feel responsible? Forgive yourself.”
Y: [Dialogue about him being too blind to see things or that he failed the Jedi.]
Q: “Come to Dagobah. You must complete what I could not.”
It sounds like a cool update, but wouldn’t it be best to start work on it after The Rise of Skywalker is released. We still don’t know exactly what Palpatine’s role in IX will be yet.
How many people here are going to see The Rise of Skywalker once it comes out in cinemas? Do you think excitement may build upon you this upcoming holiday season?
(I was too young when the OT originally came out to have seen them in theaters, but I saw the remasters in theaters).
I was actually born a few weeks before The Phantom Menace was first released.

I don’t necessarily understand why most fans believe Rogue One is the best piece of content from the new era of Star Wars. Is it because it’s a direct prequel to A New Hope and that it’s set during the classic Galactic Civil War? I personally thought Rogue One was good, but it had some issues (I won’t discuss them here, since this thread is about The Rise of Skywalker). I actually thought both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were better than Rogue One, and especially Solo.
These are my rankings for the films overall.
These are the quotes from George Lucas on the sequel trilogy.
I might be digging too deep into this but it’s kinda funny when you think this way… just for the record, I don’t think there’s any blood between Lucas and Disney, I think he might not enjoy the current direction Star Wars is going, but he isn’t salty about it. If Disney approached him for Episode 9 he’ll help motivate them… towards his perferred direction.
THE FORCE AWAKENS:
“I think the fans are going to love it. It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for.”Could be interpreted as fan service. It is very much what the fans want, although not necessarily what he wants. From Lucas’s perspective, the OT was his story but was blocked and altered by studio execs and producers. George Lucas expected the fans would love his unblocked vision of a PT, but was wrong, and now has come to believe the fans are looking for more of the OT. We can all agree TFA has many similarities to the ST (for better or worse I won’t get into), therefore, Lucas was correct in his analysis. This was what the fans were looking for.
THE LAST JEDI:
He thought it was “beautifully made.”Indeed, The Last Jedi was beautiful. Best cinematography of any SW movie. Concerning the storytelling… that is up in the air, but Lucas at no point mentions it. Therefore his analysis is (once again) perfectly accurate- even if at first glance we think it translates into “I love it”.
C’mon even if you hate TLJ, that’s beautifully made.
I actually love The Last Jedi, and the sequel trilogy overall. I think it’s an amazing entry to the Star Wars saga and just great overall. I also don’t necessarily think that Lucas isn’t happy with Disney. Not necessarily with them refusing his story treatments, though.

I’d be surprised if Lucas didn’t do some second unit stuff as he did on ESB and ROTJ, only it’s been kept secret.
I wouldn’t really believe it all that much, considering that he bad mouthed the sequel trilogy around the time The Force Awakens came out, because Disney turned down his plans for VII, VIII and IX.
